COVID-19 RULES & DECLARATION 2021 EXHIBIT NUMBERS WILL BE EMAILED ON Monday 11th Jan CATALOGUE WILL BE EMAILED THE MORNING OF THE SHOW The committee would like to welcome you to the first all Breeds Championship Show for 2021. This has been a huge learning curve for all of us trying to negotiate the ever-changing rules surrounding COVID requirements and we ask that you please read the below information and help make the day a success. • If you have even mild symptoms please do not attend - stay at home and get tested. • Be familiar with the COVID Education – Exhibitors, Competitors and Members and COVID Education - Physical Examination of a Dog sections of the Dogs Victoria COVID-19 Update Hub at https://dogsvictoria.org.au/members • Ensure that you bring everything you need for the day, avoid shared surfaces such a pooper scoopers, taps etc, be prepared with enough water for you and your dogs and a supply of poo bags, your own pen or marker and paper • There will be limited supply of COVID Safe food and coffee available nearby as part of the Agricultural show, please ensure you wear your mask if social distancing cannot be maintained whilst in line. The local shops and cafés are very close by, a list is in the catalogue • The dog shop will not be attending. • Maintain Social Distancing of 1.5 metres. This includes 1.5 metres between gazebos. Please follow this strictly as you set up as it will be enforced, a measuring stick will be there and COVID Marshalls will be present at each ring for advice, you will be required to move if set up too closely. Do not set up gazebo’s in the “Officials Only” area in the ring plan as they will be removed. • If you are sharing a gazebo with someone that does not reside at your address you must follow the strict density limits of 1 person per 4sqm, a 3m x 3m gazebo is 9sqm therefore can be shared by 2 people that do not reside together. 19 INFORMATION • You must carry a mask at all times and wear it whenever necessary eg: in assembly areas and - any time you cannot maintain a distance of 1.5m, if you are handling in more than one ring you must wear your mask as you move between rings. • Exhibitors must enter the ring via the entrance and depart via the exit maintaining physical distancing at all times. • Ring equipment shall be regularly sanitised during the event. • Remember to print or write out your exhibit numbers, and that the online catalogue will be sent to all exhibitors free early on the morning. Printed catalogues will not be available. • Gate will be open at 7am, due to COVID we are limiting time on the grounds. When you arrive, COVID all cars will pass through a checkpoint. If your car number plate and attendees are as already notified to show manager online nothing further is necessary, and this is the quickest way in. However, if there are differences on the day you will need to register attendees at the checkpoint by either using the QR code available around the show by your mobile phone or handing in a “contact tracing attendees record” form previously downloaded and filled in from the COVID Update Hub of the DV website, or signing the attendance list. • Please leave the show once your dogs have been eliminated to make room for following groups and to limit time on the grounds. Above all please be patient and understanding and ask questions of your COVID Marshalls and Officials if you are unsure…we are depending on you the exhibitors to help us make the day a success and ensure future shows can be held. Remember that the workers are all volunteers and we absolutely cannot afford any breach of the rules as this will impact not only on Dogs Victoria but also on the Lang Lang AP&H Society. Any mistakes could mean that future shows may suffer further restrictions or even be cancelled, so please follow any instructions from the stewards and marshalls without objection and with good grace. UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA Los Angeles Reading RuPaul’s Drag Race: Queer Memory, Camp Capitalism, and RuPaul’s Drag Empire A dissertation submitted in partial satisfaction of the requirements for the degree Doctor of Philosophy in Culture and Performance by Carl Douglas Schottmiller 2017 © Copyright by Carl Douglas Schottmiller 2017 ABSTRACT OF THE DISSERTATION Reading RuPaul’s Drag Race: Queer Memory, Camp Capitalism, and RuPaul’s Drag Empire by Carl Douglas Schottmiller Doctor of Philosophy in Culture and Performance University of California, Los Angeles, 2017 Professor David H Gere, Chair This dissertation undertakes an interdisciplinary study of the competitive reality television show RuPaul’s Drag Race, drawing upon approaches and perspectives from LGBT Studies, Media Studies, Gender Studies, Cultural Studies, and Performance Studies. Hosted by veteran drag performer RuPaul, Drag Race features drag queen entertainers vying for the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” Since premiering in 2009, the show has become a queer cultural phenomenon that successfully commodifies and markets Camp and drag performance to television audiences at heretofore unprecedented levels. Over its nine seasons, the show has provided more than 100 drag queen artists with a platform to showcase their talents, and the Drag Race franchise has expanded to include multiple television series and interactive live events. The RuPaul’s Drag Race phenomenon provides researchers with invaluable opportunities not only to consider the function of drag in the 21st Century, but also to explore the cultural and economic ramifications of this reality television franchise. ii While most scholars analyze RuPaul’s Drag Race primarily through content analysis of the aired television episodes, this dissertation combines content analysis with ethnography in order to connect the television show to tangible practices among fans and effects within drag communities.

  • Entrepreneurial 'Insta-Drag': an Analysis Of
MAKINGS, 2021 Volume 2 Issue 1 ISSN 2752-3861 (Online) makingsjournal.com Entrepreneurial ‘Insta-Drag’: An Analysis of Nottingham Based Drag Performers’ Social Media Profiles Zack Ditch1 PhD Researcher, School of Arts and Humanities, Nottingham Trent University, NG11 8NS, England Email: [email protected] Abstract Drag has proven to be a subject of particular interest in the fields of gender and queer studies, with recent debates exploring the neoliberalisation, globalisation, and deradicalization of the art form. This is usually attributed to the success of the reality TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race and further research identifies that neoliberal notions of self- branding and competition have infiltrated drag due to this reality tv phenomenon and the heightened visibility of drag. Yet, most of these studies explore drag in the United States, leaving a gap that fails to explore drag cultures in other national contexts, their relation to neoliberalism, and notions of drag-related entrepreneurialism to engage the creative industry. Where current literature exploring UK-based drag does exist, there is a heavy focus on metropolitan cities such as London, underrepresenting smaller regional queer communities in mid-sized cities, like Nottingham. Surprisingly, little work utilises Instagram as a valuable resource even though it provides drag performers a platform of self-expression, branding and competition in facilitating a networked access to images, posts, captions, bios, and engagement-rates of these queer communities. Analyses of drag performer Instagram profiles might then reflect and develop work surrounding the entrepreneurial attitudes of drag performers. This paper seeks to occupy these blindspots within drag-based research by using an alternative approach that engages with 20 Instagram Profiles of Nottingham-based drag performers through a triangulation of data analysis methods.
