This week we got some more details on just what this deal entails and how the developer, Red Oak Ridge, LLC, decided that it would be in their best interests to sell the land at fair market value to be put into conservation. From the beginning, it seemed to us that Red Oak was following the letter of the law as they pursued what would obviously be a huge addition to the population of the town of New Durham. They did whatever was asked of them by the planning board and answered all the questions that were brought forth by concerned residents of town, including those from the Merrymeeting Lake Association, who were against the develop- ment from the start.
