Marriage Book Index, 1837-1920 Lake County, Indiana Marriage Book Index, 1837‐1920 Lake County, Indiana This index was developed from marriage license books located in Lake County, Indiana, spanning 1837 to 1920. Both groom and bride indexes will provide the following information: the book number, page number, a license number, application number, groom and bride’s name, age (if given), a second spelling (if given), and the marrying official. We have added the church name (if given) in the notes columns and whether there was consent by a parent or nearest relative. Requests for copies of the original marriage application and license can be made by contacting the Lake County, Indiana, Clerk’s Office using the form at the following website (Note that the Clerk's Office asks that you send no more than three requests at one time): http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~innwigs/Archives/MarriageLicCopies.pdf © 2009 ‐ Northwest Indiana Genealogical Society Northwest Indiana Genealogical Society Marriage Book Index, 1837-1920 Brides Lake County, Indiana Surname Begins with V Bk# Pg# Lic # Appl Rec Groom's L Name G 2nd Sp Groom's F Name Groom's Age Bride's L Name B 2nd Sp Bride's F Name Bride's Age Appl Date Return Date Marr Date Marrying Official Title Clerk Misc Notes 017 431 018852 033 BRABER Joseph A. • Index to the Case Files of the AJDC Emigration Service, Prague Office, 1945-1950
Index to the Case Files of the AJDC Emigration Service, Prague Office, 1945-1950 This index provides the names of clients served by the AJDC Emigration Service in Czechoslovakia in the years immediately following the end of World War II. It represents the contents of boxes 1-191 of the AJDC Prague Office Collection, held at the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, Prague. The JDC Archives received a set of digital files of this collection in 2019 via the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum with the Institute’s agreement. The index was created thanks to a group of JDC Archives Indexing Project volunteers and staff. Users of this index are encouraged to try alternate spellings for names (e.g., Ackerman/Ackermann; Lowy/Loewy; Schwartz/Schwarz/Swarc/Swarz). Note that women’s surnames may or may not include the suffix -ova. The “find” feature (PC: ctrl+F; Mac: command+F) may be used to search for names listed in the Additional Name(s) column that may be separated from their alphabetical order. As case files contain private personal information, they are not open to the public. However, family members may request copies of the documents via our online Request Information form. • 2016 Annual Report | 1
HEARTLAND ALLIANCE 2016 ANNUAL REPORT | 1 EQUITY. OPPORTUNITY. FOR ALL. 2016 HEARTLAND ALLIANCE ANNUAL REPORT — JULY 2015-JUNE 2016 HEARTLAND ALLIANCE 2016 ANNUAL REPORT | 1 EQUITY AND OPPORTUNITY. FOR ALL. At Heartland Alliance, these are more than mere words. We believe that everyone in our society benefits when people are able to exit poverty, heal from trauma, and achieve stability; secure their rights; and shape policies that respond to their needs. We recognize that persistent disparities – in safety, health, housing, education, economic opportunity, and justice – keep millions of people throughout the country and across the world from participating, prospering, and reaching their full potential. Every day, Heartland Alliance addresses these disparities through direct service, research, and policy change. Thanks to our public and private investors, our community-based partners, and many volunteers, we have directly helped 400,000 individuals and impacted the lives of more than 7 million people worldwide in 2016. On the following pages, you will see just a glimpse of the positive impact Heartland Alliance has had on the lives of so many individuals. Despite these successes, violence is getting in the way. It is disrupting lives, getting in the way of reaching our full potential as a society, and hurting all of us. Heartland Alliance remains as committed as ever to drawing on our deep expertise in healing and justice to address pervasive violence so that we can move more fully toward equity and opportunity for all. To achieve that vision, we need partners and advocates whose sights are set beyond the nearest horizon. We need investors who embrace experimentation to produce better outcomes.

  • Protection of Deep Sea Habitat Off California's Coast Needed
Agenda Item H.8.b Supplemental Public Comment 7 September 2015 Protection of deep sea habitat off California’s coast needed now By Brian Tissot Imagine an area nearly as large as the state of California, a frontier of largely unexplored terrain known to harbor forms of life hundreds or even thousands of years old. A place where the number of species is so high it rivals the diversity of coral reefs but remains an ecological enigma. Welcome to the deep sea, a huge area off the California coast more than 11,000-feet deep that is extremely valuable ecologically and currently unprotected. On Tuesday, the Pacific Fishery Management Council is scheduled to consider establishing precautionary protection of this deep-water habitat along the West Coast. Because of this area’s uniqueness, vulnerability and lack of protection I’ve joined more than 100 marine scientists encouraging the council to do just that. Here’s why: These deep sea habitats are huge and mostly unexplored. These untouched, unprotected areas of seafloor comprise a surprisingly large area of American territory off our coast – roughly 40 percent of all U.S. territory out to 200 miles from the California shore. Even though we know very little about this area as exploring it is extremely costly and difficult, we do know this: The more we look, the more we discover. Using remotely operated submersibles, scientists have documented ecologically important habitat that sustains marine life and indirectly human life. Ancient deep sea corals and sponges are extremely long-lived and serve as “ecosystem engineers” because they create habitat that myriad species of fish and invertebrates need to survive.
