Welcome Booklet Àrea de Comunicació i Relacions Institucionals Agenda Hello! Welcoming words Catalonia, a sporting nation The hosting cities Main sporting facilities When is going to happen? Match Schedule and Planning Moving around! Maps Keep in touch! Social Networks International Referees National Teams Youth Tournament Introducing Catalan Sponsors Hello! Welcoming Words Bernard Barral (FIBat President) During this year 2017, Ivory Coast and Benin have joined FIBaT, thus rising up the number of affiliated nations to 22. The International tamburello is close to be developed in every continent. Besides, the number of clubs wanting to participate in the European Cups is also rising. The 2nd World Championship have been organized by Catalonia, after Italy hosted the last edition back in 2013. Up to twelve countries will take part in this tournament, aiming to take over the trophies of World Champions won by Italy, both in men and women. This sporting event will be a great competition and celebration of tamburello, as our Catalan friends know how to achieve it. The political situation will not disturb the desire of our athletes to give the best version of themselves on the playing court. I wish everyone good luck and hope that the matches would be fair and of the highest level. I would like to thank the cities of Vilanova and Vilafranca, Catalan tamburello clubs, the Catalan Federation and the Consell Català de l’Esport. Welcome to Catalonia, I am looking forward to see you all at the Awards Ceremony that will be celebrated Sunday evening and will reveal who will win the World Championship.

  • 38 CHAPTER IV CONCLUSION Spain's Constitutional Court Vetoed
CHAPTER IV CONCLUSION Spain's Constitutional Court vetoed 14 of its demands, and independence fighters argued that the attenuated act did not satisfy the region regarding the independence level that it desired. It will be a big blow for the Spanish government if they let Catalonia separate from them because of much consideration regarding Catalonia position for Spain and also regarding FC Barcelona one of its successful club in Spain surface. Football in Catalonia is one of the things that is progressing on the mainland of Spain, FC Barcelona itself is one of the most significant contributors to domestic cup trophies won by Spain so far, outside Barcelona domestic competition is also successful in European competitions and world cup between clubs. This condition would undoubtedly be detrimental to Spain if Catalonia really could break away from them. 90% of the referendum voters believe that their lives will be more prosperous if they succeed in freeing themselves from Spain. They thought that their wealth was taken away by Spain. Independence is felt to be very far from expectations because Spain itself is unlikely to allow Catalonia to break away for a solid reason given the critical position of Catalonia in Spain and the shadow of FIFA sanctions if Spain fails to solve their football problems. The Spanish government will block any attempt of the referendum because it will be dangerous for them regarding their position in FIFA. It will breach FIFA statute about the failure to control their internal football because football should be arranged between FIFA and the Federation of the country.

  • Bajar El Documento En
Panel 1: Narratives in National Identity Raúl Moreno Almendral: “Self-narratives, Experience and Memory in Nation- building: a Research Framework Proposal for National Identities” This paper outlines some of the theoretical and methodological problems I am dealing with while conducting my PhD research about national identities from an individual perspective. My main concern is how individuals craft their national identities and how the experience they have during their lives, in many cases traumatic, affect this identity building. As “imagined communities” nations are the outcome of complex social processes full of contentious matters that have influence but at the same time get influence from nation building. Group, time and space are the three basic pillars on which nations are imagined. The problem is that the traditional social science problem of inducing social structural conclusions from aggregations of particular and fragmented data leads to biases and misleading conclusions in how groupality, time and space perceptions work for creating identity and otherness. My goal is using self-narratives as historical sources for an individual agency-based approach to nation-building, in order to make a reassessment of social and personal factors with a nation-from-below methodology, as well as to see how apparently non-national conflicts canalize individuals’ perceptions of nation and condition what role the nation has in their lives. In the first part of my paper I would resume criticism on traditional approaches, which treat nations as historical actors and legitimate objects of historical research. In the second part, I would bring out some ideas about how we can go beyond the current stalemate in top-bottom frameworks, and how we can deal with the specific problems of self-narratives as sources, such as personal interest, memory issues and cognitive bias.

  • El Humor Televisivo Como Productor De Fronteras
http://dx.doi.org/10.7592/EJHR2014.2.3.martinesgarcia European Journal of Humour Research 2 (3) 42–65 www.europeanjournalofhumour.org Television humour and preferred meanings in the Catalan identity debate Luisa Martínez-García Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain Abstract This article analyses a sports-related satirical-parody television series as a generator of preferred meanings that may be associated with an ideological context of a stateless nation such as Catalonia, where the symbolic aspect is fundamental to the imaginary-building process. In this case, the research focuses on identifying whether representations of difference exist in the humorous content of the television series and, if they do, how they are represented and whether they propose imaginary boundaries. Through a quantitative and qualitative analysis in a satirical-parody television series about sports-related news, this study shows that humour generates symbolic boundaries between two spaces. While one of the spaces is in close proximity to the context in which the series is produced and broadcast – Catalonia–, the other encompasses the rest of Spain. In the same direction, humorous audiovisual text contains preferred and also dominant meanings, and these are expressed by how characters valuate other characters, situations, contexts, etc. The nature of the valuations proposes meanings that express the idea of a positive “us” and a negative “them”. Television humour acts as a cultural agent that proposes preferred meanings to the subject, and such meanings become part of the subject’s identity process. Keywords: television series; ideology; Catalan nationalism; fiction; humour and preferred meanings. 1. Introduction This article analyses how a television satirical-parody series proposes dominant or preferred meanings and creates representations of difference in a context within which the national discourse is present in nearly all of the subject’s day-to-day spheres.
