Reboot Comment Formatting APPENDIX D ZIP City Comments - Coachella Valley Understand and work with you on neighborhood & public transit. I am a Cathedral retired transit official from Portland, Oregon. I was the Director of 92234 City Operations for bus and rail. Perhaps I can offer help and insight on any issues you may have from and ADA perspective. Cathedral We still have no real public transit to get people to get people. Money goes 92234 City to the South side--what about the north side? Cathedral VA doesn't provide sufficient transportation to caller's doctor. What 92234 City options does he have for transportation to doctor for veterans? Cathedral 92234 Oh good! Another moneypit. City Transit riders in Coachella need a bench, shade, and lighting. There are 92236 Coachella new routes but no shade and no seats. The City should have a main stop with misters. Transit connectivity has gotten better. make palm springs repair conditions that aggravate flooding on gene autry Desert Hot 92240 east of the 10 fwy and indian cyn north and south into desert hot springs Springs when there is disastrous flooding due to rain overrun onto passage ways. Desert Hot Why don't we have commuter rail traffic to all points west--we have a rail 92241 Springs line why don't we use it? A portion of Thousand Palms Canyon Rd near the Coachella Valley Preserve has been widen that includes bike lanes and a new layer of asphalt. This should be the standard for this entire short but important North/South route. It's heavily traveled and fed on the north by Dillon Rd Desert Hot 92241 and on the south by Ramon/ Washington Street. I'm hoping that the Springs Thousand Palm Canyon Road could be improved to the level that stretches a mile or so before and after the entrance to the Preserve. This would drastically improve safety for bikes traffic, pedestrians and cars. Any chance? Desert Hot worst road is VARNER Road at the end of Mountain View and Date Palm 92241 Springs in Coachella Valley - declined email address Desert Hot 92240 CAN SHE CALL THIS # TO FIND OUT ROAD CLOSURES? Springs 92203 Indio Find an easier way to get to Cal State San Bernardino and UCR. 92201 Indio How about having a beach train during the summer starting in Indio? Page 1 I am in support of rail/train transportation from Indio to Los Angeles, with a possible stop in the Long Beach area. I remember as a child riding the train from Indio to Yuma, AZ and when I moved to Indio two years ago, I was 92203 Indio sadden to see there were no more passenger trains leaving from Indio going toward AZ or Los Angeles. I believe many residents of the Coachella Valley would use the train for areas outside of the valley. I have been reading about a passenger train coming to our valley for many 92201 Indio years now. Economically, environmentally, and personally this needs to happen. Please don’t drop the ball on this, get it done. Thank You! Van Buren and 48th road is a mess. Divet in the road. Put a light at 49th 92201 Indio and Van Buren but four-way stop at 48th. Indio or Coachella? Just before Dylan. wondering if there will be more bus transportation in Indio--no Sun Line 92203 Indio transportation here but there should be. Suggestion: Worked for Greyhound for a long time. Says many people 92201 Indio were coming to Indio/Palm Springs via Greyhound bus. Suggests increased transit to this area. Says they would fill a bus every hour or t Suggestion: Amtrak platform in Indio or Palm Desert. Concerned that a 92201 Indio platform in Indio would be congested, in Palm Desert concerns about land use. On highways there are not four-way stops. On state highways four-way 92203 Indio stops should be allowed, especially in agricultural areas. Saw a fatal accident over the weekend in Blythe. 92201 Indio heavy traffic on Jackson and Avenue 50--will there be new signals? Dillon Road between Landfill Rd and Berdoo Canyon Rd has numerous 92201 Indio large potholes causing traffic issues. Bicycle shops in Riverside are for middle class people because the prices are too high and poor people just don't bother going to a bicycle shop. If 92201 Indio you provide a place where the poor can get their bicycles repaired and maintain then they would be more people riding their bicycles. Page 2 I am one of thousands of seniors that are retired and living in Indio and other areas of the Coachella Valley. Our children and grandchildren live in and around LA. We miss public transportation that we can rely upon to visit our families as well as attend the various cultural, theater and myriad of events in LA. Now, we have to drive 2-3 hours from the desert to LA. I live alone, and I do not feel comfortable driving all that way alone. I would N/A Indio love to participate in helping to get a train or reliable bus routes into LA. I want to be able to attend events and visit my children without the worry of having to stay overnight. My children do not have another bedroom for me and it is not comfortable for me on the couch. I would love to attend the theater and go back home. There are so many reasons to have public transportation into LA. Please let me know if you need me to help with this project. the erection of a platform in Indio would be big boom to Train travel. A stop down ij Indio so much more accessible. Train travel outside commute 92201 Indio in L.A., S.F. is near non existent out West. Do be able to go by Train further West that getting on freeway...YES!! 92203 Indio Improve public transportation for ALL citizens! 92201 Indio What's a good idea just do it Let's build one like the train to nowhere! Spend billions and complete a 92203 Indio tenth of it! 92201 Indio Spend the money on our roads not this crap How about not letting drunk and crazy people on the sun bus. You have no 92203 Indio idea how many times they had to stop the bus because someone peed or started a fight. 92253 La Quinta Commuter train from Coachella Valley to Riverside or San Bernardino Avenue 52 between Jefferson and Washington in La Quinta. Too many N/A La Quinta patches, pipe lays, etc. Do they have plans to repave the road completely? 92247 La Quinta I would like to see rail travel in and out of the Coachella. 92253 La Quinta That would be Ubers, SunBus and Greyhound, or buy a scooter. Oh no, Riverside County getting into this scam. No way, we will see 92253 La Quinta perpetual property tax increases and assessments for another boondoggle. Build a CV link and don't let Indian Wells & Rancho Mirage skip out 92253 La Quinta because their cities are dangerous for pedestrians. actual bike lanes Page 3 If you can waste millions of dollars on the "Benoit Booddoggle" you certainly do not need an additional tax. Just downgrade the CVLink by removing the street legal golf carts from the project, and let it be a simple bike path. Measure A funds were sold to the public as road building and repair funds, not a recreational project. A project that has consistently lied 92211 Palm Desert to the public. Palm Desert has said the CVLink will be on current city bike paths; none of these bike paths can/will support the width that would be required for for and aft lanes for bike, two directional lanes for pedestrians, and street legal golf cart lanes. Stop trying to scalp the voters so some unknown special interest can get rich We need more rail going to Riverside and Los Angeles. We already have 92260 Palm Desert the rail ROW. Let's put some passenger trains on those lines. Holiday traffic makes it impossible to get around. The I-10 gets backed up 92260 Palm Desert a lot during the holidays. We have a great public transit system, but it pollutes our air. We need 92260 Palm Desert more CNG buses. Comuter Trains need dedicated rail. Trains need to stop at airports. 15s gong from 7 lanes at 91 to 3 lanes at el cerrito is to short of a distance for 92260 Palm Desert the lane reduction. Road Lanes and design under 15 at onterio and el cerrito not sufficient. It would be nice to have a light rail system to connect different parts of the 92260 Palm Desert region. A train to LA would also be great! My son needs a better option to get from the desert to LA. We need rail 92260 Palm Desert service here. Why does it take a long time for projects to move forward and be 92260 Palm Desert completed. We need to cut down the amount of time it takes for projects to be approved and completed! The region needs more public transportation that is seemless to use. One 92260 Palm Desert pass to access several modes would be great. The area needs more street lights for pedestrians. As i drive my car, it 92260 Palm Desert doesn't appear it's friendly to other modes of transportation. 92260 Palm Desert We need more trains to get around in the region. We need light rail in the desert. Economically disadvantaged people have a 92260 Palm Desert hard time getting to medical appoints.

  • See It Big! Action Features More Than 30 Action Movie Favorites on the Big
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ‘SEE IT BIG! ACTION’ FEATURES MORE THAN 30 ACTION MOVIE FAVORITES ON THE BIG SCREEN April 19–July 7, 2019 Astoria, New York, April 16, 2019—Museum of the Moving Image presents See It Big! Action, a major screening series featuring more than 30 action films, from April 19 through July 7, 2019. Programmed by Curator of Film Eric Hynes and Reverse Shot editors Jeff Reichert and Michael Koresky, the series opens with cinematic swashbucklers and continues with movies from around the world featuring white- knuckle chase sequences and thrilling stuntwork. It highlights work from some of the form's greatest practitioners, including John Woo, Michael Mann, Steven Spielberg, Akira Kurosawa, Kathryn Bigelow, Jackie Chan, and much more. As the curators note, “In a sense, all movies are ’action’ movies; cinema is movement and light, after all. Since nearly the very beginning, spectacle and stunt work have been essential parts of the form. There is nothing quite like watching physical feats, pulse-pounding drama, and epic confrontations on a large screen alongside other astonished moviegoers. See It Big! Action offers up some of our favorites of the genre.” In all, 32 films will be shown, many of them in 35mm prints. Among the highlights are two classic Technicolor swashbucklers, Michael Curtiz’s The Adventures of Robin Hood and Jacques Tourneur’s Anne of the Indies (April 20); Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai (April 21); back-to-back screenings of Mad Max: Fury Road and Aliens on Mother’s Day (May 12); all six Mission: Impossible films

  • Abandoning the Girl Show Ghetto: Introducing and Incorporating Care Ethics to Girls' Animation
AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Adam C. Hughes for the degree of Master of Arts in Applied Ethics presented on July 15, 2013 Title: Abandoning the Girl's Show Ghetto: Introducing and Incorporating Care Ethics to Girls' Animation Abstract approved: Flora L. Leibowitz In regards to animation created and aimed at them, girls are largely underserved and underrepresented. This underrepresentation leads to decreased socio-cultural capital in adulthood and a feeling of sacrificed childhood. Although there is a common consensus in entertainment toward girls as a potentially deficient audience, philosophy and applied ethics open up routes for an alternative explanation of why cartoons directed at young girls might not succeed. These alternative explanations are fueled by an ethical contract wherein producers and content creators respect and understand their audience in return for the privilege of entertaining. ©Copyright by Adam C. When Jay and Silent Bob discover that Hollywood is rebooting an old movie based on them, the clueless duo embark on another cross-country mission to stop it all over again! 1 CAST & CREW BIOGRAPHIES: KEVIN SMITH (Silent Bob, Director / Writer) Kevin Smith has been saying silly cinematic shit since his first film Clerks, released way back in 1994. He had a heart attack and almost died last year but survived solely so he could direct his magnum opus, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. A polygamist, he’s married to both his wife Jen and podcasting. JASON MEWES (Jay) Jason Mewes most recently made his directorial debut on MADNESS IN THE METHOD, which was released in August 2019. With cult-fans following his controversial antics, Mewes has captured audiences with his rebellious banter against his unspoken other half and longtime friend, Kevin Smith. Since the beginning of the duo’s offbeat work together, Mewes and Smith have continued to build on their beloved character-driven roles from the Jay and Silent Bob series. It’s been over a decade since fans last saw the duo in live- action, but they’re back along with a star-studded cast in the upcoming comedy film, JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT.

Gordon Emslie Dean of the Graduate College ii ACKNOWLEDGMENTS I would like to express my appreciation to several people for their support, friendship, guidance, and instruction while I have been working toward my PhD. From the English department faculty, I would like to thank Dr. Robert Mayer, whose “Theories of the Novel” seminar has proven instrumental to both the development of The Getaway Girl and the accompanying critical introduction. Dr. Elizabeth Grubgeld wisely recommended I include Elizabeth Bowen’s The House in Paris as part of my modernism reading list. Without my knowledge of that novel, I am not sure how I would have approached The Getaway Girl’s major structural revisions. I have also appreciated the efforts of Dr. William Decker and Dr. Merrall Price, both of whom, in their role as Graduate Program Director, have generously acted as my advocate on multiple occasions. In addition, I appreciate Jon Billman’s willingness to take the daunting role of adviser for an out-of-state student he had never met. Thank you to all the members of my committee—Prof.
