Work Programme providers have the discretion to mandate participants to a work placement which must be of community benefit.

Work Programme participants may also undertake a similar work experience activity on a voluntary basis, however, on this basis the placement does not need to be of a community benefit and can be with any business where the individual can gain valuable experience in a structured work place environment, improve their CVs and marketability to potential employers.

We commissioned the information you seek from our providers. We have been looking into how we can comply with your request, and exploring whether this, or elements of it can be done within the appropriate limit for central Government, set by regulations at £600. This represents the estimated cost of one person spending 3½ working days in determining whether the Department holds the information, and locating, retrieving and extracting it.

Within the appropriate limit we are able to provide the information you seek about work placements and work experience for four Contract Package Areas. Please find the information. DWP does not hold the names of placement hosts; we are reliant on our providers for the accuracy of this information.

If you have any queries about this letter please contact me quoting the reference number above.

Yours sincerely,
