Issue #4~September 27, 2004 MEETING MINUTES OF 9/23/04 *Guest Speaker: Dr. Larry Hilgert Dr. Hilgert will be discussing the School Psychology program at VSU. The session is on September 30, 2004 (Thursday) at 5:00pm in the Seminar Room at the Psyc.Office Building. *VSU Football Game Excursion We are going as a group to the VSU vs. Delta State game on October 2nd(Saturday). Meet at the UC Fountain at 12:00pm; game starts at 1:00pm. Afterwards, we will go to eat at Loco�s Pub&Deli. *Volunteer Opportunity Join us by participating in the Alzheimer Association�s "Memory Walk" on October 16, 2004 (Saturday). Issue #5~October 4, 2004 MEETING MINUTES OF 9/30/04 *Faculty vs. Student Softball Game Re-Scheduled!!! The softball game has been scheduled for October 22, 2004 (Saturday) at the VSU girls� softball field. Warm-up is at 3:30pm, and the game will start at 4:00pm. Also, we are grilling out. The sign-up list is located on the Psyc. Club bulletin boards in the PCB and in the POB (next to the Breakroom). *Psyc. Club T-Shirts On Sale! Check out the design on the Psyc. Club bulletin boards. The cost of a t-shirt is only $10.00. First, get a "Pre-pay Slip" from the bulletin board and fill it out. Then, give the slip and your to the secretary in the Psyc. Office Building. The deadline to buy a shirt is October 8, 2004 (Friday). *Volunteer Opportunity Join us by participating in the Alzheimer Association�s "Memory Walk" on October 16, 2004 (Saturday). Issue #6~October 8, 2004 MEETING MINUTES OF 10/7/04 *Guest Speaker: Dr. Kevin Colwell Dr. Colwell is an assistant professor at VSU, and his area is forensic clinical psychology. He is speaking on October 14, 2004 (Thursday) at 5:00pm in the Seminar Room of the POB. *Deadline to Buy a T-Shirt Has Been Extended Check out the design on the Psyc. Club bulletin boards. The cost of a t-shirt is only $10.00. First, get a "Pre-pay Slip" from the bulletin board and fill it out. Then, give the slip and your money to the secretary in the POB. Please sign if you plan on playing or just eating and hanging out. *Memory Walk Volunteers Several members participated in the Alzheimer Association�s Memory Walk this past Saturday. A thanks of appreciation goes out to Billy Berrian, Christina Crump, Kelly Land, Michael Land, Keisha Molden, Stephanie Perna, Dominick Perna, Shari Pierce, Will Snyder, Dana Snyder, and Amy Van. In addition, Will and Dana Snyder raised the second highest donation amount out of all Memory Walk participants. *Volunteer Opportunities "National Make a Difference Day" is on October 23, 2004 (Saturday); we are going to the local food bank to volunteer. Issue #8~October 25, 2004 MEETING MINUTES OF 10/21/04 *T-Shirts Are In! The Psychology Club t-shirts are in. Stop by the front desk to pick up your order. *Haunted House Excursion On October 30, 2004 (Saturday), we are going to Moody�s haunted house. The cost per person is $3.00. Everybody is welcomed to come. We are meeting at the Psyc.Dept at 9:00pm. Afterwards, we are going to Waffle House! *Students Win Softball Game! The score was 15 to 12, Students�it was definitely an intense but fun game! *Upcoming Events The 12th Annual Conference on Applied Psychology is on November 6, 2004 (Saturday). The club is helping out the day before and the day of the conference. Also, we have plans for a game night at Dr.Wiley�s, a movie night, and the annual Thanksgiving "dinner." Issue #9~November 1, 2004 MEETING MINUTES OF 10/28/04 *Guest Speaker: Dr. Deborah Briihl Dr. Briihl will be discussing the GRE and graduate school related topics on November 4, 2004 (Thursday) at 5:00pm in the Seminar Room. *12th Annual Conference on Applied Psychology The conference is this Saturday, November 6, 2004 at the Regional Center for Continuing Education. Cost for attendance is $5.00 for students and senior citizens, and $20.00 for faculty and professionals.

*Game Night at Dr. Wiley�s! Join us on November 6, 2004 (Saturday) at 7:00pm at the Wileys� for a night of games and fun! Please sign up on the lists located in the PCB and POB. *Upcoming Events The club is helping out the day before and the day of the conference. Also, we are planning a (bake sale) and a holiday food drive. The annual Thanksgiving "dinner" will take place the Friday before Thanksgiving Break. Issue #10~November 8, 2004 MEETING MINUTES OF 11/4/04 *Holiday Food Drive The Psychology Club is holding a food drive until December 1, 2004 for America�s Second Harvest of South GA Food Bank. Please donate nonperishable food items only. The boxes are located in the front entrance of the Psyc.Office Building and in front of the PCB. Thank you! *Bake Sale We are holding a 2-day bake sale on campus to raise funds. If you would like to volunteer to bring baked goods, please email us. The sale will occur after Thanksgiving Break. There will be more information to come. *Thanksgiving "Dinner" This event typically takes place on the Friday before Thanksgiving break. First, faculty, staff, and students bring a dish, dessert, or drinks to the Break Room. Then, around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, everyone digs in! More information will be posted.

Issue #12~February 1, 2005 MEETING MINUTES OF 1/31/05 *New Meeting Time Welcome back to a new semester! The meeting time for this semester is every Monday at 3:30pm in the Psychology Office Building�s Seminar Room. *New Officer Congratulations to our newly elected Vice President, Gregg Pinera! *Tsunami Relief Fundraiser Raffle. We are raising money to donate to the American Red Cross Tsunami Relief. We are selling raffles tickets for $3.00 each. Prizes include gift certificates from Outback Steakhouse, Longhorn, Texas Roadhouse, and Red Lobster. The deadline to buy a raffle ticket is February 14, 2005 (Monday), and we will be drawing for prizes on the same day at the Psyc.Club Meeting. If you would like to purchase a ticket, ask the secretary at the front desk of the POB. If you would like to help sell tickets, contact us at [email protected]. Thanks for helping out for a really great cause! *Upcoming Events The Chili Cook-off 2005 is set for February 18th at 12pm in the POB�s Breakroom. Issue #13~February 15, 2005 MEETING MINUTES OF 2/14/05 *Annual Chili Cook-off 2005 The Chili Cook-off is this Friday (February 18th) at 12pm in the POB�s Breakroom. If you would like to submit your chili into the contest, contact us [email protected]. Also, bring your chili to the Breakroom before noon. If you just want to come eat some great chili, bring $1.00 and an empty stomach for all the chili you can eat. *Results from Tsunami Relief Fundraiser Raffle The grand total of money raised was $329.00! Thank you for supporting the club and this great cause! We will contact all the lucky winners. *Upcoming Events There are several projects in the works. First, there will be a guest speaker from Career Services soon. Also, we are planning another Student vs. Faculty Softball game. Plus, the Annual Progressive Dinner is coming up. Furthermore, other ideas on the drawing board include a paintball war, laser tag, or a canoe trip. Join us at the meetings to give your input! Issue #14~February 22, 2005 MEETING MINUTES OF 2/21/05 *Annual Chili Cook-off 2005 Winners Congratulations to the winners! 1st-Dr. John Hummel 2nd-Bernard Wortman 3rd-Dr. Jim Reffel *Guest Speaker Crystal Goode, a career counselor from VSU Career Services, will be speaking at the next Psyc.Club meeting (Feb.28th) on Monday at 3:30pm in the POB�s Seminar Room. She will discuss how to write resumes, interviewing skills, and her personal experience of the VSU masters clinical program. *Upcoming Events First, the Annual Progressive Dinner is coming up in March. Next, we are planning another Student vs. Faculty Softball game in April. Furthermore, a paintball war between faculty and students is in the works. As of now, dates are tentative. More to come soon! Issue #16~August 18, 2005 MEETING MINUTES OF 8/18/05 *Elections With the beginning of a new semester, a proposal to hold official elections for officers has been tabled. Currently, Greg (vice President) and Will (treasurer) are the only incumbents. All positions are up for re-election, and nominations and voting will be held at the next meeting. *Established Meeting times The majority consensus of members present was that 12:30pm on Thursdays is the best time for club meetings. *The Happening Valdosta State will be hosting its annual showcase "The Happening" on Thursday August 25th at the palms "quad." A few volunteers are needed to man the booth. Those interested please contact Greg or Will. Please stop by on Thursday to show your support.
