TRAPEZE ARTIST Champion Australian 3YO TRAPEZE ARTIST Champion Australian 3YO RETIRES TO WIDDEN IN 2019 “He’s an awesome colt. When he gets into rhythm and let’s rip there isn’t a sprinter in Australia that can go with him.” Gerald Ryan, Trainer – AS A 3YO TRAPEZE ARTIST DOMINATED THE BEST WFA SPRINTERS IN AUSTRALIA WINNING THE $2.5M T.J. SMITH STAKES – I am delighted to announce the Champion Australian 3YO colt of his generation TRAPEZE ARTIST will be retiring to Widden at the end of this racing season. The success of the Widden Stallions has been unrivalled in recent years – in particular the number of Champion First or Second season sires that we have launched, namely Sebring, Northern Meteor, Stratum, Nicconi, Star Witness and Zoustar. Like Trapeze Artist, these are colts that at some point in their 2 or 3YO career dominated their generation. Aside from his electric speed, there is several factors that appealed to us with Trapeze Artist, most notably he: • Smashed Black Caviar’s Race Record in the Gr.1 T.J. Smith Stakes 1200m as a 3YO, defeating Redzel, English, Le Romain, Brave Smash, Global Glamour, In Her Time etc. • Set new track record in the Gr.1 All Aged Stakes 1400m becoming the first 3YO in history to win the prestigious Gr.1 WFA double. • Set a new track record when winning the Gr.1 Canterbury Stakes 1300m at Randwick. • Set record winning margin of 4.5 lengths in the Gr.1 Golden Rose 1400m defeating Merchant Navy, Pariah and Menari. • The official Champion Australian 3YO of his generation and Timeform’s highest rated (126) . • Group winning, Group 1 placed 2YO • Winner of over $5.5m in prizemoney and the highest ever rated horse by current champion sire, SNITZEL. This horse is a record-breaking machine! Additionally, Trapeze Artist will retire as the equal highest ever Timeform rated entire from the whole Redoute’s Choice sireline. One only has to look at the leading and most commercial stallions we have in Australia and it is actually quite simple; Australian speed and Group 1 precocity are the two dominant pre-requisites in the making of a champion stallion and we look forward to supporting Trapeze Artist all the way to that level. We hope you can join us. Best wishes, Antony Thompson SMASHED BLACK CAVIAR’S RACE RECORD in the GR.1 T.J. SMITH STAKES easily defeating Redzel, English, Le Romain, Brave Smash, Global Glamour and In Her Time (1.08.29) Set new TRACK RECORD in the GR.1 ALL AGED STAKES and became the first 3YO in history to win the prestigious Gr.1 WFA double Set new TRACK RECORD in the GR.1 CANTERBURY STAKES at Randwick Dominant, 4.5 LENGTH WINNER OF THE GR.1 GOLDEN ROSE (a record winning margin for the race) defeating Merchant Navy, Pariah and Menari The official CHAMPION AUSTRALIAN 3YO of his generation and Timeform’s highest rated (126) GROUP WINNING, GROUP 1 PLACED 2YO Winner of over $5.2m in prizemoney and the HIGHEST EVER RATED horse by current champion sire, SNITZEL “The Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings, released on Thursday in Europe, recognised Champion Australian 3YO Trapeze Artist as the highest rated sprinter in the world after his race-record win in the $2.5m T.J. Smith Stakes Gr.1.” Racing.com, 11/05/2018 RACE RECORD 19-7-1-3 | $5,543,750 1st T.J. He won his first General Sires’ Premiership in 2017 with all-time record Australian earnings of $16.2 million, joining Danehill and Redoute’s Choice to complete Australia’s only three-generation sequence of Champion Sires. The 2YO and 3YO Sires’ categories belonged to him too and he headed all three lists by Winners, Stakeswinners and Stakes Wins. Snitzel’s 2016/17 tally of 26 Australian stakeswinners equalled Danehill’s record and his tally of 35 juvenile winners is a new mark. By the end of the 2017/18 season, Snitzel had already broken his own earnings record, this time with progeny earnings of over $29 million and again with a phenomenal 26 individual stakes winners. The Australian Racing Board assumes no responsibility for any such inaccuracies, errors or omissions in this publication or in other documents referred to within the publication. We would appreciate being notified of any errors that are discovered. 2 FForewordoreword The Australian Racing Board is pleased to introduce the third edition of The Australian Racing Fact Book, our annual reference guide to the Australian thoroughbred racing industry. In a few years we will celebrate the bicentenary of racing in Australia. In the almost 200 years since its beginnings, a three day meeting held in Hyde Park in 1810, Australian racing has become not only one of this nation's best loved sports but also a major component of the economy. By 2001 thoroughbred racing has grown to become an industry that generates a gross economic impact of $7.74 billion, and provides work, directly and indirectly, for 249,000 people. When you bear this in mind it is only to be expected that there is keen interest, from both within the industry and more generally, in records relating to the health and performance of the Australian thoroughbred racing industry. Our intention in producing the Fact Book is to meet this demand by assembling a range of useful facts and figures as a handy guide to any person seeking information on major aspects of the industry.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16, 2021 SILVER GLEAMS WITH BROODMARE DISPERSAL ADDED TO FASIG JULY; ADDITIONAL ENTRIES TO BE HARD SPUN POLISH ACCEPTED Fasig-Tipton has added a breeding stock section to its upcoming July sales in Lexington, Kentucky. The company will offer 18 mares as part of the Far From Over/Fountain of Youth Dispersal. All will be consigned by Stuart Morris.
