A glorious history has made Widden Stud into one of the most re- spected Australian thoroughbred stud farms in the world, but when the yearling sale season is upon us, buyers are really only interested in results. The 2016 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale on February 6, 7 and 8 in Syd- ney is a source of great opportunity for the canny investor and past Widden Stud drafts have yielded more than their share of success. One of the early horses to put champion trainer Chris Waller on the map was his 2008 AJC Doncaster Handicap winner Triple Honour, plucked from the Widden draft at Inglis Classic for $50,000. Popular trainer Tim Martin tasted Group I success with his Inglis Classic Widden purchase Typhoon Zed, while Mark Kavanagh won over $3.2 million with his multiple Group I winner Whobegotyou, a modest $19,500 purchase for his owner Lawrence Eales.
