He is nine months old and his high-pitched wailing is wearing their patience thinner by the night. And this when he was actually supposed to be repairing his parents' troubled relationship. Instead of sleep, or sleeping with each other, Livia and Marco now get up every night, get dressed, and climb into their rattling old Golf, the motor noise of which is the only thing that calms Tim. One night the inconceivable occurs. A petty criminal rocker and his date pinch the car – and with it the child. Tim may be able to sleep on in peace but his parents are racked by fear and anxiety. This is the start of a mad hunt through the night marked by screams, silence, high speeds, sharp braking and changes of direction. Will the day indeed bring about a new direction for Livia, Marco and Tim? PRESS NOTE Director Christoph Schaub's fast paced and intelligent film, LULLABY RIDE, tells the story of a couple who, upon having their car stolen with their small child inside, find themselves in a wild chase through the night. The story is witty and exciting by turns, and bears the unmistakable style of best-selling author Martin Suter. Cooperation between author Martin Suter, director Christoph Schaub, and producer Marcel Hoehn already yielded a both wonderful and successful cinematic experience in JULIA'S DISAPPEARANCE, which garnered the audience award at the Locarno Film Festival in 2009. With Alexandra Maria Lara and Sebastian Blomberg as the exhausted parents, and Carol Schuler and Georg Friedrich as the unwitting child abductors, LULLABY RIDE boasts an impressive cast. LULLABY RIDE was filmed on location in Switzerland and Germany in autumn 2011, and produced by Marcel Hoehn of T&C Film (JULIA’S DISAPPEARANCE, THE SWISSMAKERS) in cooperation with Stefan Arndt of X Filme Creative Pool (THE WHITE RIBBON, THREE), Swiss Radio and Television SRF, Teleclub and ARD Degeto. © 2012 LULLABY RIDE (OV: NACHTLÄRM) - T&C Film 2 CAST Livia Alexandra Maria Lara Marco Sebastian Blomberg Jorge Georg Friedrich Claire Carol Schuler Baby Tim Tiziano Jähde Mercedes driver Andreas Matti Jeep driver Ingo Ospelt CREW Director Christoph Schaub Script Martin Suter Producer Marcel Hoehn, T&C Film AG Co-Producer Stefan Arndt, X Filme Creative Pool GmbH Cinematography Nikolai von Graevenitz Sound Patrick Becker Editing Marina Wernli Music Peter Scherrer Set Design Susanne Jauch Costume Design Dorothee Schmid Make-up Barbara Grundmann Casting Simone Bär, Corinna Glaus In co-production with Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen SRF / SRG SSR ARD Degeto Teleclub With the support of Swiss Federal Office of Culture (FDHA), Switzerland Zürcher Filmstiftung DFFF – Deutscher Filmförderfonds Filmfernsehfonds Bayern Suissimage Succès Cinéma Succès Zürich FFA – Filmförderungsanstalt, Germany © 2012 LULLABY RIDE (OV: NACHTLÄRM) - T&C Film 3 SYNOPSIS LIVIA and MARCO are a stressed couple with a small problem. Its name is TIM, and despite his tender age of nine months, he has managed to bring his progenitors into great disarray. Particularly by night, when his screaming fits rob Marco and Livia of both sleep and all hope of physical proximity. It is thus on the evening in question: Marco has just commenced his first successful seduction attempt in an eternity when Tim begins to scream and will not stop. His irritated parents place Tim in the car and drive off. It is not until they are on the motorway and have reached Tim's preferred speed of 130 km/h that the baby calms down and falls asleep. His parents bicker on until Livia announces, she wants to visit the next service station. The decision to stop at the service station has fatal consequences: there Marco and Livia run into a car-owner who has parked his Mercedes at the service station, as well as CLAIRE and JORGE, who have stolen a motorcycle. As Livia visits the service station toilet, Marco decides to get some cigarettes and leaves Tim alone in the car for a moment. When Livia and Marco return, their car has disappeared – as has Tim. Without hesitating, Marco and Livia climb into the car-owner's Mercedes and screech off to chase their Golf. Claire and Jorge, who have stolen the Golf, do not initially notice that they've got a “stowaway” on board, since Tim's asleep and they are in good spirits. Marco and Livia, on the other hand, argue away again until they are interrupted by a phone call. The excited car-owner is calling them. Marco and Livia explain the situation and he acts understanding and claims that he will inform the police. In fact he acquires a map and eyes Jorge and Claire's motorbike with interest. This is the start of what, for all concerned, proves to be a turbulent journey through the night. While Claire and Jorge have to deal with the troublesome situation of now being the brand-new parents of a cry-baby, Marco and Livia are suffering the tension of chasing after their child. While they are at it the car-owner, who disguises himself as a policeman and turns out to be a criminal, sends them off on countless wild-goose chases. Once Marco and Livia have snookered the car-owner, they manage, with Claire's assistance, to finally recover their child. They return home relieved and delighted. Their marriage seems to be saved and they'll be able to afford a “Baby-sleeper” from now on – if they still need one at all. © 2012 LULLABY RIDE (OV: NACHTLÄRM) - T&C Film 4 ALEXANDRA MARIA LARA as Livia Alexandra Maria Lara was born 1978 in Bucharest. European International Journal of Science and Technology ISSN: 2304-9693 www.eijst.org.uk AESTHETICS OF STRUCTURAL FUNCTIONALISM: A CASE STUDY OF SANTIAGO CALATRAVA’S ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNS OMALE Reuben Peters 1 and Momoh Victor 2 1,2 Department of Architecture, School of Environmental Technology, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo state, Nigeria Email: [email protected] 1 and [email protected] 2 Abstract After building projects have been completed and inhabited by either Clients or Users of the buildings, such buildings begin to exist on their own with little or no information about the designer who conceived the idea behind the designs. This phenomenon leaves interested lay public and young architects curious about whom the designer is. This study aims at showcasing the design style of famous architect, Santiago Calatrava – a Spanish born architect of the post-modernist movement, whose architectural projects can best be described as awesome and breathtaking masterpieces. He is a neofuturist architect, a structural engineer, a sculptor and a painter. This work also studied his early life as a young architect and his inspirations for innovation and creativity which was motivated by his love for biology and anatomy. Lessons where drawn from the life and times of this great architect with many laurels, among which is the AIA gold medal and the IstructE gold medal. Some of his popular projects include; Milwaukee art museum, Wisconsin, U.S.A, the Queen Sofia palace for the arts, auditorio de Tenerife in Canary, Spain and the turning torso building in Malmo, Sweden, just to mention a few among many.

In those bridges, Calatrava exploits the phenomenon of torsion of the deck to create a certain longitudinal asymmetry. This asymmetry enables the designer to include original features like a big balcony one side of the bridge, "to emphasize the position of the bridge in relationship to the city around it, or the direction of the water, or even the position of the sun. It permits to sensitize the bridge itself, as a phenomenon set into the surrounding landscape" (Conversation with Students, Calatrava). Actually an inclined arch stabilized by steel arms or hangers generates the sufficient torsion defying equilibrium rules.

Paul Cooke Der Untergang (2004): Victims, Perpetrators and the Continuing Fascination of Fascism This chapter examines the controversy surrounding Hirschbiegel and Eichinger’s 2004 film about the last days of Hitler. It suggests that the image of the war and the National Socialist regime it presents is highly reminiscent of films from the immediate post-war period, a time when the representation of the Germans as ‘victims’ was commonplace. At the same time the film tries to accommodate the agenda of the New German Cinema, which looked to hold the nation accountable for its complicity with Hitler. Finally, I suggest that a key intention behind the film would seem not to be to engage with debates about whether Germans were ‘victims’ or ‘perpetrators’, but to present an image of the past that can capitalise the ‘authenticity’ offered by its German-speaking cast. Introduction In recent years German cinema has provoked a level of international interest it has rarely achieved in the post-war period. For example, if one takes the Oscars as a measure of international success, since unification German films have been nominated six times in the category of ‘Best Foreign Language Film’. This compares with nine nominations for German films in the previous forty years.1 Initially, the current success of German films abroad seemed to coincide with a shift in the interests of filmmakers. Key figures in the New German Cinema of the 1960s and 1970s – the last time that German film had made an impact on the international cinematic scene – including Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Alexander Kluge and Wim Wenders, had attempted to provoke German society with their challenging works, intent upon forcing the older generation to face up to the legacy of National Socialism.

ABSTRACT Spanish town are a keen experimenter in the field of contemporary architecture, having clearly recogni- zed the key importance of high-quality architecture as a factor promoting cultural and urban development. The construction of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao in 1997 demonstrates that outstanding architecture can also make a lasting contribution to a city’s economic development. But other instances have demonstred quite the reverse.
