FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: NEWS Texas League announces Postseason All-Star Team

FORT WORTH, Texas (Aug. 28, 2019) – Player of the Year Dylan Carlson (Springfield) and of the Year Darren Mc- Caughan () highlight the 16 players named to the Texas League’s Postseason All-Star Team announced Wednes- day by TL President Tim Purpura. The awards were voted on by the league’s managers, staff and media.

The team is comprised of eight position players and eight . Joining Carlson, an outfielder, among the position players are: catcher (Amarillo), first baseman (Arkansas), second baseman Ivan Castillo (Amaril- lo), third baseman Abraham Toro (Corpus Christi), shortstop Gavin Lux (Tulsa), outfielder Edward Olivares (Amarillo) and outfielder (Arkansas).

In addition to McCaughan, the pitching staff also includes: Lake Bachar (Amarillo), Emmanuel Clase (Frisco), (Arkansas), Brian Howard (Midland), Dustin May (Tulsa), (Arkansas) and Art Warren (Arkansas).

Seven of the eight Texas League teams were represented on the list, led by Arkansas with six members, including four pitchers and two position players. Other clubs with more than one representative are Amarillo (four) and Tulsa (two). The North Division received nine All-Star nods, while seven honorees came from the South.

Eleven of the players are 23 years of age or younger. The group also includes five former first-round picks in the MLB Draft (Carlson, Dunn, Lux, Sheffield and White) and six players who have already made their MLB debuts (Clase, Fraley, May, Sheffield, Toro and Torrens).

The Texas League’s awards announcements will continue Thursday with the Manager of the Year and Coach of the Year awards. Next Tuesday, the Sports Turf Manager of the Year, Best Visiting Team Hotel, Best Visiting Clubhouse, Best -Um pire Hotel and Best Locker Room awards will be revealed.

Texas League Postseason All-Stars Catcher - Luis Torrens, (Padres) Age: 23; Signed: Free Agent (2013) • Has played in 93 games, batting .292 with 13 home runs and 59 RBIs. • Ranks 3rd in the TL in both slugging percentage (.476) and OPS (.839), and 5th in OBP (.363) and batting average. • Starter for South in 2019 All-Star Game.

First Base - Evan White, (Mariners) Age: 23; Drafted: Round 1 (2017) • Is listed among the league’s top 5 in both slugging percentage (4th, .473) and OPS (5th, .818). • Starter for North in 2019 All-Star Game. • No. 72 overall prospect on MLB Pipeline and No. 4 in Mariners’ system. • SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game participant. Second Base - Ivan Castillo, Amarillo Sod Poodles (Padres) Age: 24; Signed: Free Agent (2012) • Has 129 hits, including 40 extra-base hits, in 100 games. • Leads the league in batting average (.312), while ranking 5th in both hits (129) and slugging percentage (.459). • Starter for South in 2019 All-Star Game.

Third Base - Abraham Toro, (Astros) Age: 22; Drafted: Round 5 (2016) • Tops the league in OPS (.906), and ranks 2nd in batting average (.306), OBP (.393) and slugging percentage (.513). • Had 16 home runs and 70 RBIs prior his promotion to Triple-A Round Rock, and has also made his MLB debut. • Starter for South in 2019 All-Star Game. • No. 6 prospect in Astros’ system.

Shortstop - Gavin Lux, (Dodgers) Age: 21; Drafted: Round 1 (2016) • Batted .313 with 13 homers, 37 RBIs and an .890 OPS in 64 games prior to being promoted to Triple-A City. • No. 10 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline and No. 1 in Dodgers’ system. • Starter for North in 2019 All-Star Game. • SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game participant.

Outfield - Dylan Carlson, (Cardinals) Age: 20; Drafted: Round 1 (2016) • Leads the league in home runs (21), total bases (216) and slugging percentage (.518) and is 2nd in OPS (.882). • Starter for North in 2019 All-Star Game. • No. 50 overall prospect on MLB Pipeline and No. 2 in Cardinals’ system was promoted to Triple-A Memphis. • SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game participant and Texas League Player of the Year.

Outfield - Edward Olivares, Amarillo Sod Poodles (Padres) Age: 23; Signed: Free Agent (2015) • Leads the league in runs (83), and is 2nd in both RBIs (74) and total bases (213). • Ranks 3rd in both stolen bases (33) and hits (133), and is 4th in home runs (17). • Starter for South in 2019 All-Star Game. • No. 18 prospect in Padres’ system.

Outfield - Jake Fraley, Arkansas Travelers (Mariners) Age: 24; Drafted: Round CBB (2016) • Member of North team in 2019 All-Star Game. • Played in 61 games, batting .313 with an OPS of .925 and 11 home runs, 47 RBIs, 40 runs and 16 stolen bases. • No. 8 prospect in Mariners’ system and has made his MLB debut.

Pitcher - Lake Bachar, Amarillo Sod Poodles (Padres) Age: 24; Drafted: Round 5 (2016) • Is tied for the league league in wins (8) and is 4th in (121) and 5th in ERA (3.70). • Is 8-4 overall in 23 games (18 starts) while striking out a batter per inning.

Pitcher - Emmanuel Clase, Frisco RoughRiders (Rangers) Age: 21; Signed: Free Agent (2015) • Member of South roster in 2019 All-Star Game. • Has 11 saves, which ranks 3rd in the league, and a 3.35 ERA with 39 strikeouts in 33 appearances (37.2 innings). • Earned a call-up to the Major Leagues in August. Pitcher - Justin Dunn, Arkansas Travelers (Mariners) Age: 23; Drafted: Round 1 (2016 • Leads the league in strikeouts (153) and WHIP (1.18) and is tied for 1st in wins (8) in 24 starts. • Member of North roster in 2019 All-Star Game. • No. 75 overall prospect on MLB Pipeline and No. 5 in Mariners’ system. • SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game participant.

Pitcher - Justus Sheffield, Arkansas Travelers (Mariners) Age: 23; Drafted: Round 1 (2014) • Was 5-3 with a 2.19 ERA in 12 games before earning promotions to Triple-A Tacoma and MLB’s . • Limited hitters to a .218 batting average and had 85 strikeouts in 78 innings of work. • No. 9 prospect in Mariners’ system.
