Lloyd pitched into the eighth inning Friday night as the Amarillo Sod Poodles defeated the ‘Hounds, 6-2, in Game 3 of the Texas League South Division Championship Series at Security Bank Ballpark. The game was also a case of “opportunities seized” and “opportunities missed” in a pivotal seventh inning. The Sod Poodles took a 2-1 lead into the stretch inning in a pitcher’s duel between Lloyd and RockHounds starter Brian Howard. Both clubs put their fi rst three batters on base in the seventh, but Amarillo scored three times and the ‘Hounds just once. Amarillo’s “hat trick” came on an RBI double from Brad Zunica and back-to-back run-producing singles from Buddy Reed and Taylor Trammell, building the lead to 5-1. The ‘Hounds loaded the bases with no outs in the home half of the frame on consecutive singles from Tyler S Ramirez, Edwin Diaz, and Greg Deichmann, but scored just once (on a bases-loaded walk to Chase Calabuig). Luis Torrens added a solo home run to the short porch in right fi eld in the eighth to produce the fi nal margin. NORTH DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES TULSA DRILLERS VS.
