“Do You Wanna Stay in Your Little Room?” SOCIETY OF JEWISH SCIENCE THE CENTER FOR APPLIED JUDAISM tuesday, December 6, 2016 – 7:00pm “Do You Wanna Stay in Your Little Room?” An Interactive Work in Progress titled: 'Whispering Hearts‟ Kim Kalesti Author, Visionary Artist, Illustrator, Music Composer, Singer Don Nelson LCSW - Discussion Facilitator Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016 - The Society of Jewish Science @7:00pm 109 East 39th Street, New York, New York 10016 A magical-musical thought provoking and emotional stirring event that touches all the senses. It can be described as a combination of philosophically framed poetry, accompanied by dream-like subliminal illustrations and haunting melodies. Bring your spirit of adventure and wonderment to enjoy Kim Kalesti's inspiring music, poetry, and visions. The working title of 'Whispering Hearts‟ evolved out of Kim's October event called „Thoughts Are Seeds‟. It‟s based upon the idea that we all have internal wants and needs that are looking for expression and understanding. In the next event in December we will explore in multi-artistic ways how we all have a tendency to retreat into our internal space, sometimes isolating ourselves from others, including loved ones. The holidays are an ideal time to think about reconnecting. Hence the title: „Do You Wanna Come Out of Your Little Room?' This promises to be a fun, interactive and unique experience. About the Artist's Kim Kalesti: is a multi-dimensional artist. Prolific in her consistent ability to express her life experiences in her Philosophical Picture Book Series, The Book of Kimistry music and poems, illustrations and paintings, live performances and recordings. Her books are songs, while turning the page we listen to her unique vocal arrangements that accompany the vibrant colorful characters taking us on a journey to unravel layers of conscious and subconscious thoughts. "Kim's uncanny ability to capture the human desire in her books make for a multi-dimensional emotional experience". Here are some of the book/song titles in her Philosophical Picture Book Series: “Thoughts Are Seeds", “Gonna Take My Time”, “Don't Give Excuses for Absurd", and "Do You Wanna Stay In Your Little Room”? Don Nelson: LCSW - It makes perfect sense that the reading of "Thoughts Are Seeds" be coupled with group facilitator Don Nelson's sensibilities and experience as a practitioner of the study of behavior and mind, embracing all aspects of conscious and unconscious experience as well as thought. A multi-dimensional practitioner as a Licensed Psychotherapist, Psychoanalyst, Group Facilitator, Professional Speaker and Writer, Don promises to elevate the discussion. About the Venue: The Society of Jewish Science/The Center for Applied Judaism - Jewish Science is a Judaic spiritual movement comparable with the New Thought Movement. Rather than the paternal God figure encountered in Hebrew tradition, "Jewish Science views God as an Energy or Force penetrating the reality of the universe". The movement was institutionalized in 1922 with Rabbi Morris Lichtenstein's and his wife Tehilla's founding of the Society of Jewish Science. The teachings emphasize the role of affirmative prayer, "divine healing" and “Right thinking" as self help methods essential to a Jew's physical and spiritual health but does not rule out the importance of medical intervention - unlike Christian Science. Jewish Science also incorporates psychology, and concepts about practical spirituality. Today, the Society's "Home Center" and synagogue is located in midtown Manhattan, NY. The Society also maintains a chapter in Los Angeles, California and there are many study groups around the country which focus on each of the main texts of Jewish Science. Admission only $10.00 Books available to purchase $20.00 at event The event begins at 7:00pm until 8:30pm For additional Information contact: Terry Katz - Executive Director of The Society of Jewish Science 212-682-2626 http://thecenterforappliedjudaism.org email: [email protected] Kim Kalesti http://www.kimkalestimusic.com/ [email protected] Don Nelson, LCSW Licensed Psychotherapist, Psychoanalyst Professional Speaker/Author 212.677.0999 [email protected] www.challengetheleaderinside.com 109 E. 39th Street, NYC 10016 212-682-2626 .
