Hosting an event of this size and magnitude is no easy feat, and without the full support of the students, faculty and administration here at EWU we would have never pulled it off. What you will experience over these next two and a half days is the culmination of what started as a great idea in 2012 and has become a reality today because of the dedication and hard work of individuals from across the entire campus. It has truly been a team effort. Here at Eastern Washington University undergraduate research takes center stage each spring as we celebrate the work students and faculty have done together in our Student Research and Creative Works Symposium. This spring we are privileged to host some of the brightest and most talented young scholars this nation has to offer, and we congratulate you on everything you have accomplished so far. Undergraduate research is recognized as one of the ten High – Impact Educational Practices as laid out by the Association of American Colleges & Universities’ Liberal Education and America’s Promise (LEAP) initiative. One of the foremost benefits of undergraduate research is the mentoring relationship established between students and faculty. It is this relationship and the commitment of the faculty mentors that makes undergraduate research such an important part of student success. Thank you to the faculty for everything you do. We are excited you are here and hope you take full advantage of the opportunities to network with, and learn from the presentations of your fellow students and peers, here at NCUR 2015.
