PTO will host the 2019 Spring Fling

WHEN: Friday, March 8, 2019 TIME: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. COST: Students will buy tickets for $1 each and food items will range from 1-5 tickets

This is an opportunity for participating CHS clubs and organizations to raise money for their group.

A variety of food will be sold including Chick-fil-a, Raising Cane’s, sausages, candy, sodas and more! A few clubs will also be selling breakfast tacos that morning.

There will be inflatables for entertainment at no charge.

We will be pre-selling tickets Wednesday March 6 and Thursday March 7 at both lunches and in the morning before school.

Attention Senior Parents: This year’s local scholarship applications are now ready! Every year local individuals, civic groups, and businesses award scholarships to CHS students. These scholarships range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand and are for all sorts of requirements – technical school students, community service, college major. Not all of them require high GPAs. In order to be selected for many of these awards, a student must complete a brief application that can be found on the CHS counselor’s website under the scholarship tab at https://www.boerneisd.net/Page/2745.

You must complete and return the application to the CHS counseling office by Friday March 8th at 4:00.

 The Boerne Education Foundation would like to invite you to be a contributing sponsor for their annual fundraising event “Rock On Under the Stars” which will be held on March 30, 2019 at the Kendall County Youth Agriculture and Equestrian Center. It will be a fun time to help raise a lot of money for our BISD schools.

Barnes & Noble is holding a “My Favorite Teacher” Writing contest. Criteria is as follows:

• Students write an essay, poem, or thank-you letter • 500 words or less

Students will share how a teacher has influenced their life and why they appreciate and admire them.

The contest deadline dates is March 14, 2019. All entries must be submitted online only.

The student who wins the writing contest will receive a certificate and a $100.00 Barnes & Noble gift card.

Sorority Recruitment Opportunity

Boerne Samuel V. Champion High School PTO Spirit of Community Scholarship

DESCRIPTION The Boerne Samuel V. Champion High School PTO Spirit of Community Scholarship is awarded to a Champion High School senior who has demonstrated exceptional service to the community throughout his/her high school career. There are three awards of $1,000 available.

QUALIFICATIONS

The applicant must be a CHS senior in good standing. Academics, character, disciplinary referrals, and absences may be considered, among other things. The applicant must be enrolled in some form of post- secondary education, which may include career & technical school, community college, or a 4-year college to receive payment of the scholarship.

As this is a PTO scholarship, the parent of the applicant must be a paid PTO member.

Attention Seniors: Do you need help applying for college or completing Scholarship applications?

Mrs. Alamillo will be available beginning Wednesday, January 23 during WES (4-6:00 pm) to assist any Senior who needs help completing their college applications. Any Senior (regardless of who their counselor is) are welcome to stop by the Counseling office/Career Center to get his or her questions answered. All you will need to do is stop by the counseling office and sign up with Mrs. Vargas, so she knows how many seniors will be stopping by.
