Set back from the Bridgnorth Road, it is accessed through electrically controlled gates onto a tarmacadam drive that leads to a generous turning circle enclosing a decorative parterre. The property was built in 1936 by J R Woodisse, a renowned local builder for his personal use. His dedicated task to architectural perfection entailed constructing the property using traditional methods from original materials and timbers, some believed to date back to the Elizabethan era that had been rescued from older local properties. Indeed, it is believed that the name Long Knowle originates from a Wednesfield farm house that was dismantled in the 1930s. Long Knowle incorporates many traditional Tudor and Elizabethan features including, beautiful leaded mullioned windows, open fireplaces, oak floorboards, timber beams and panelling. The current vendors have enhanced the property during their ownership with high quality fittings to provide attractive, modern accommodation. A closed porch houses a great studded oak door which leads to a spacious and richly timbered hallway containing what is believed to be an Elizabethan balustrade staircase with a wainscoting rescued from the demolished old Wolverhampton Brick Kiln Street Methodist Church at the top of the stairs. The two main reception rooms lead off from the hallway: the double aspect living room features a magnificent inglenook fireplaces complete with ensconced seats and has doors which lead to an outside patio entertaining area; the dining room has an open fire and overlooks the rear garden. The large breakfast kitchen has a wide range of light units together with a Rangemaster Toleo XT cooker that includes a gas hob and electric ovens. There is also an integrated dishwasher and a Belfast sink which has a separate fitting for filtered water whilst a central island provides additional storage areas and a more informal seated dining area. Double doors lead out onto the outside entertaining area and charming gardens beyond. A cloakroom, utility room and storage area are all accessed off the breakfast kitchen. The first floor has four bedrooms (one ensuite) whilst another is currently used as an informal sitting room and features a fireplace. A well-appointed bathroom with a slipper bath, separate shower and his and her vanity units is also found on this floor. A staircase to the master bedroom suite leads to a generous bedroom with walk in wardrobes, a dressing room study and an ensuite. It also benefits from excellent storage areas all around which is often unusual for character properties. Outside the private gardens extend to approximately 0.7 acres and have been thoughtfully landscaped to provide year round interest and colour. At the rear of the garden is a secret treehouse that the current owners’ children have enjoyed throughout their childhood.
