Apensen , and ..We accompany asylum seekers with their questions and problems and help them to feel at home with us. We want to facilitate your integration and for that reach out our hands to you. When you come to seek asylum in , you often have a long and tiring journey behind you with a lot of suffering. Now you need to cope with everyday life in Germany which sometimes might be hard for you. You have to learn German, become familiar with a new social environment and establish contact with the citizens who live here. We want to enable you to rise to all of these challenges..

That is why we compiled the most important addresses and pieces of information for you.

German lessons

We offer German courses so that the German language can be learned immediately. Every Monday from 10.30 to 12.00 o’clock German courses are held in Apensen’s Town Hall. The retired teachers Henning Lohrengel and Uwe Lehmann give their very best to teach German in a friendly and lively way.

Playing Games and getting to know each other On Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. we meet for billiards, football tables and talking in the JUKUZ, Apensen’s youth and cultural centre.

Here you can meet people for simple board games or just a coffee or a tea in a friendly atmosphere. Just come along! Everyone is welcome! Charity Shop We have set up a charity shop for you. There you will find ladies’, - Gentlemen’s - and children's clothing, bicycles, small furniture and other Inventory. It's worth coming round. The charity shop is in Apensen,

Bicycle Workshop

If there are technical problems with the bikes, they can be repaired at Apensen high school . This is possible during school hours, every Monday from 11:30 to 15:20. Please contact Mr. Wübker. He repairs the bikes with some students and offers his assistance. You find these helpful people on the ground floor next to the equipment room.

During school holidays the bicycle workshop remains closed.

The bikes are the citizens' initiative fellow human beings and should be returned please the exodus from the property.

Presentation of the joint municipality Apensen consists of three communities with several villages. These include Apensen, Beckdorf and Sauensiek. Beckdorf includes the villages of Goldbeck and Nindorf. For us, the places Apensen, Beckdorf, Goldbeck and Sauensiek are important, because there are your accommodations for the next time. ! - 3 - Apensen is the largest village with a beautiful town hall, various shopping facilities, doctors and pharmacies, schools and kindergartens and –for some of the locals the most important point - the sports club TSV-Apensen. All asylum seekers from the aforementioned villages may participate for free in various sports on offer.

Apensen has got a railway station from where EVB trains go to or in the opposite direction to Bremerförde / Bremerhaven. From Buxtehude the S-Bahn either goes to or to .

Timetables are available everywhere.

There are also buses from Apensen, Beckdorf, Goldbeck and Sauensiek.

In Beckdorf there is a small Edeka market in Goldbecker Straße. You also find two small barber shops, a doctor, a kindergarten and a sports club. Goldbeck is only a smal village. Sauensiek has a bakery, an outdoor pool, an inn and a kindergarten.

Waste separation In the municipality there are four different trash cans. This means waste separation in different areas.

1. Brown bin: for compostable waste, ie vegetables, fruit leftovers, coffee filters, flowers, earth, shrubs and paper bags.

2. Paper bin: (big can with blue lid) for tissue handkerchiefs , newspapers and magazines and small cartons.

3. yellow bag or bin: plastic cups, cans, bags, plastic bottles (without deposit ! - 4 -

4. Domestic waste: include non-recyclable waste, such as vacuum cleaner bags, hygiene items, ash (cooled), discarded utensils, such as toothbrushes, kitchen bowls, markers and more.

5. In addition there are garbage containers for waste glass (bottles without glasses)

6. Old batteries are collected separately in a box and picked up by us.

Save heating costs and electricity. It would not just be very kind but also important to save energy. Therefore, we ask you

- to turn down the heating during ventilation of the rooms

to turn off the light when leaving the room.

Water The water from the tap can be taken for cooking and even for drinking. For baby food, the water must be boiled. It is clean. Here are some hints and addresses to find your way through the maze of German authorities more easily.
