Medical Care After Sexual Assault A Guide to Alberta Services Current as of July 29, 2020 The following handout contains information regarding medical services for people in Alberta who have experienced sexual assault, including: Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs), medical sexual assault exams, and general medical care and emotional support. If you do not see the name of where you live on this list go to the location closest to you, or contact 811 to learn about options closer to home. Accessing medical care and treatment is available even if there is no apparent injury. Most sexual assaults do not result in visible injuries. Accessing medical care can connect people who have been sexually assaulted to appropriate testing and referrals, such as to sexual assault centres, but it is a personal choice to decide to access medical services.
