JAMES N. WARREN, Principal

Education, as never before, is of the utmost importance in the life of every boy and girl today. It is an evident fact that no person is even considered for any responsible position unless he or she has a minimum of a high school .

Questions that are most commonly requested by all employers and colleges are:

1. Has the pupil attended school regularly? 2. Did the pupil get along well with fellow classmates and teachers? 3. Grades attained in high school? 4. Did the pupil graduate? 5. Number in the graduating class and the rank of the graduate?

It is the personal responsibility of each pupil and parent to see that the individual learns to the maximum ability. If there is a weakness in the home, it is usually detected in the child; the child may show his maladjustment to existing every day situations.

It is imperative that all parents check each grading period to note the progress of their children. If satisfactory progress is not noted, the teacher should be contacted immediately for an ap pointment. A child’s progress may be assisted by an analysis or discussion between the parent and the teacher. 3 Sc/toaC ^?&cvicL

At the close of the century I, Captain Video Roberts, returning to Earth after a successful expedition to Mars, decided to visit ray old home town, New Boston.

Upon my arrival, I went to my old hangout, "Joes, " which was now a cocktail lounge, managed by Joe Harr and Jack Ison. The featured attraction for the lounge was the fabulous Pat Bates. I was served dinner by the head waiter, Terrance Highfield.

Stopping by the old theater, which was now managed by Ray Lutz, I was fascinated by the new movie, "Bearded Lady, " starring Ron Spears. To my surprise Marvin Jenkins was the usher.

I then saw the old Alma Mater, which had expanded up Glenwood. Visiting, I was met by the new Principal, Raymond Drake. I learned from him most of the faculty consisted of very old classmates; John Hoover, Helen Barklow, Carl Jarvis, Nova McCleese, and Don Young. I was surprised to find Shirley Vaughn and Bonnie Adkins still searching for "Formosa" in Ohio.

I returned to my hotel which was owned by Harold Cullum. The elevator boy, Larry Hale, told me Collette Clark, Janice Lytten, and Donna Jamison had just opened a new nursery school. After an in teresting talk with Larry, I entered my room to find the maids, Donna Bell and Connie Hanners just leaving.

Picking up the newspaper, I read about the new singing sensation "Fats" Blevins. I also read about the coming Rose Bowl Game between Coach Messer's Lions and Coach Wolfe's Dragsters.

In the theatrical section I noticed Ralph Bussey was directing a new play, "Peeping Tom, " starring Tom Davis and Judy Griffin.

Leaving my hotel, I decided to view the town of old memories before returning to space. Greatly to my surprise I found Deacon Stidham still carryout boy at Emnetts, but he expected to be raised to cashier any day.

Hailing a cab, I was driven around town by John Horner, who was now owner of the Boston Cab Company. Ray Stanley, Watson Hughes, Gary Plummer, and Bob Martin were his drivers.

A loud noise took my attention and there was Rodney Stone, firechief, and his crew; James Mingus, Adam Walk, Bill Ruark, Don Porter and Frank Perkins.

Jack Harper was police chief; his deputies were; Martha Maple, Patty Mathis, Pat Ruhlman, and Mary Sowards. I asked him why the women deputies; he said that it built up the morale.

I also noticed a large beauty salon, managed by Pat Fetty and Tylitha Lewis. From them I learned about all the happily married people; Betty Sexton, Donna Staten, Bonita Webster, and Sandra Groh.

I learned of a new Hot-Rod Association consisting of Kay Clevenger, Janet Callender, Judy Martin, and Manless Daniels.

Returning to the hotel, I watched a television program, "Tugboat Annie, " starring Emily Sheridan. Shelby Travis and Alice Willis did commercials.

The next morning I left the old town of memories.

Before blasting off at Cape Canaveral, 1 received news of the election of my old friend, Bob Fox, to the presidency of the .

In the first game of the season Glenwood traveled to Wellston to meet a much bigger squad. The Tigers tried very hard but Weliston's size proved to be the main factor in their 36-6 win over New Boston.

In their first S. O. C. game the Tigers downed Wheelersburg 24-8. Fred Wolfe scored one touchdown while Ken Messer scored two and threw a pass to Richard Dunham for the other.

In their second S. O. C. game with Piketon the Tigers posted an overwhelming 54-6 victory. Steve Ross scored five touchdowns while Ken Messer, Fred Wolfe, and Junior Blevins scored one each.

None Dame took oyer the S. O. C. lead by downing an injured New Boston squad. The Tigers, with five regulars out with injuries, should be given credit for their terrific battle in their 8-0 defeat.

In a non-conference game, Glenwood matched South Point in touchdowns, but extra points proved to be the difference. Ken Messer scored two touchdowns and Fred Wolfe scored one in the 24-20 defeat.

Waverly dropped New Boston to third place by beating them 16-8 in our Homecoming. Ken Messer scored our lone touchdown in the losing cause. # New Boston quickly bounced back to down West 24-6. Steve Ross led the Tiger scoring attack with two touchdowns with Fred Wolfe scoring the other.

Glenwood played a better game than their 24-14 score indicated in their loss to Rock Hill, After a scoreless first half, Fred Wolfe matched the Red men’s first two touchdowns, but Tigers couldn't match their third, which came late in the final period.

New Boston came from behind with Steve Ross scoring a touchdown in the final quarter to give the Tigers a 6-6 tie with East.
