He has played a key role in both the architecture of Xen and formation of industry partnerships that led to the emergence of Xen as the leading open source virtualization technology. Ian was a member of faculty at the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory, where he led the Systems Research Group for over 7 years. He was a founder of XenSource, and is now VP for Advanced Products at Citrix. He also oversees emerging virtualization technologies relating to high-availability, disaster recovery, and enterprise security. He leads a small advanced development group based in Vancouver, Canada. Andrew is concurrently an Adjunct Professor in Computer Science at the University of British Columbia. At UBC he co-supervises a group of fantastic graduate students and works on novel approaches to building stable and secure computer systems. In addition to penning short autobiographies, Andrew enjoys running, cooking, vintage British automobiles, and spending time with his one-year-old son Ryan. Most recently, he and Ryan have been attempting to experimentally determine the answer to the age old question: “How many prunes are too many prunes?” Yoshiaki Tamura NTT Lab. Yoshi Tamura joined NTT in 2005. His areas of interest are Operating Systems, Virtualization and Fault-tolerant systems. Yoshi holds a MS in Computer Systems Engineering from Northeastern University. Iustin Pop Google, Switzerland Iustin Pop is a system administrator for Google Switzerland. He has worked in the virtualization group for the internal systems, mainly on the software and opensource efforts, for more than two years. 2 Ying Song Chinese Academy of Sciences Miss Ying Song is a Ph.D Student in Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. With main research interests in computer architecture, parallel and distributed computing, operating system and virtualization technology, her work thus far has covered topics such as: performance modeling, capacity flowing, green model. In particular, the traditional desktop application can execute in the remote virtual machines without re-architecture providing a personal desktop experience to users through remote display technologies. However, existing cloud desktop applications mainly achieve isolation environments using virtual machines (VMs), which cannot adequately support application-oriented collaborations between multiple users and VMs. In this paper, we propose a flexible collaboration approach, named CyberLiveApp, to enable live virtual desktop applications sharing based on a cloud and virtualization infrastructure. The CyberLiveApp supports secure application sharing and on-demand migration among multiple users or equipment. To support VM desktop sharing among multiple users, a secure access mechanism is developed to distinguish view privileges allowing window operation events to be tracked to compute hidden window areas in real time. A proxy-based window filtering mechanism is also proposed to deliver desktops to different users. To support application sharing and migration between VMs, we use the presentation streaming redirection mechanism and VM cloning service.
