The athletes and the Russian National and Cross-Country Ski Associations were duly notified of the disciplinary proceedings and further investigations by the IOC, and the implementation of provisional suspensions by FIS. Following this notification, the athletes appealed the provisional suspension. The FIS Doping Panel, after having heard Evgeniy Belov and Alexander Legkov, and the FIS, has decided today, 25 th January 2017 by majority not to reverse its initial decision, but to uphold the provisional suspensions of Evgeniy Belov and Alexander Legkov until further notice. As a result of the decisions, the above-mentioned athletes may not take part in any competitions or national team activities. The decisions of the FIS Doping Panel may be appealed exclusively to the Court of Arbitration for Sports in Lausanne (CAS) in accordance with the applicable provisions of CAS. The time to file an appeal to CAS is 21 days. The other four provisionally suspended athletes Julia Ivanova, Evgenia Shapovalova, Alexey Petukhov and Maxim Vylegzhanin have also filed appeals, which are currently in progress.

    PRESS RELEASE 7 March 2012 Vattenfall sponsors future Olympians In a unique collaboration, Vattenfall and the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOC) are working together to increase the number of medals in future Olympic Games. Today, Wednesday, Vattenfall and SOC presented the eight Olympic athletes and 33 promising talents who will be receiving sponsorship over the next few years. This is a unique partnership focusing on long- term commitment. “Our partnership unites the National Olympic Committees in all our core markets – Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands. Its starting-point is local collaboration in our core markets and it opens the way to a European platform,” says Elisabeth Ström, Head of Communications at Vattenfall. Vattenfall’s and SOC’s partnership includes Team Vattenfall which consists of eight athletes in winter and summer sports, and Olympic Talent Support Vattenfall, which supports 33 promising talents on their way to Olympic Games and World Cup medals. Thanks to Vattenfall’s sponsorship, young promising athletes are given the opportunity to devote themselves fully to their sport and develop into future Olympians. Two promising sportspeople – Johan Eurén, wrestling, and Therese Lundqvist, shooting – are included in the Vattenfall talent programme. Team Vattenfall includes Anette Norberg, curling, Anna Holmlund, ski cross, Frida Svensson, rowing, Rolf- Göran Bengtsson, equestrian, Fredrik Lööf, sailing, Lisa Nordén, triathlon, Charlotte Kalla, cross country skiing and André Myhrer, alpine skiing. “What Vattenfall is doing is unique. Nu väntar nästa stora mästerskap för Anna Hasselborg, Sara McManus, Agnes Knochenhauer, Sofia Mabergs, Jennie Wåhlin och coach Maria Prytz. VM i North Bay, Kanada startar idag lördag och med svensk premiärmatch mot Danmark. Curling.se träffade Agnes Knochenhauer några dagar innan avresan mot VM i Kanada – Vi har haft drygt två veckor hemma efter OS-guldet. Första veckan var det mycket media och andra uppdrag men även prioritet på att vila. Nu laddar vi batterierna med tid för våra familjer och genom att vara tillbaka i träning. När vi är på plats i Kanada blir det fullt fokus mot VM och det ska bli roligt att tävla igen, säger Agnes. Nyblivna olympiska mästare, favoriter och siktet inställt på medalj även i VM – Vi har ju ingen VM-medalj så det är inget snack om vad vi går för. Men som vanligt är det många tuffa lag att möta och viktigt att vi lyckas ställa om och fokusera, säger Agnes. Curling är en av världens snabbast växande vintersporter. Det återspeglas också i VM som fr.o.m i år utökas från 12 till 13 länder. Antalet speldagar är detsamma men nu väntar 12 matcher i grundserien och sedan två eller tre matcher i slutspelet. – Det är en riktigt lång turnering med många matcher så vi måste fortsätta med att vara noggranna och ha en bra planering för att hinna ladda om mellan alla matcher, säger Agnes.
