There is a red border that is reminiscent of the rim on the White House china that the Reagan’s used dur- ing his presidency. There are four gold stars which rep- resent Reagan’s years as our 40th President and his Four Pillars of Freedom. The ship on the seal is posi- tioned off the West coast, symbolizing both the home port of the ship and President Reagan’s two terms as governor of California. Three aircraft cut a path across the upper portion of the seal representing the three major military operations directed by Reagan during his presiden- cy: Grenada/1983, Libya/1986, and Iran/1988.
