ALTOONA’SFASTEST PROVIDER HAS GOTTEN EVEN FASTER: ATLANTIC BROADBAND’S ENHANCED INTERNET SPEEDS GO LIVE TODAY

Atlantic Broadband is More Than 30Times Faster thanCompetition Based on Independent Third Party Testing

ALTOONA, Pa. Dec. 3, 2013 – Atlantic Broadband , the nation's 13th largest cable operator, today announced its ongoing investment in its digital network has enabled it to launch even faster Internet service speeds for customers in Altoona, including surrounding communities such as Hollidaysburg, Roaring Spring, Martinsburg, Duncansville and Claysburg.

Effective today, Atlantic Broadband will nearly double its “Unleashed” Internet service speeds from 40Mbps to 75Mbps and raise the speed of its most popular “Express” Internet service from 20Mbps to 30Mbps (see chart below).

Service Current Speed New Speed

(Download / Upload) (Download / Upload)

Express 20 Mbps / 2 Mbps 30 Mbps / 3 Mbps

Unleashed 40 Mbps / 3 Mbps 75 Mbps/ 5 Mbps

These speeds are in stark contrast to what customers receive over DSL networks where the average Verizon DSL user receivesjust 2.5 Mbpsin Altoonaaccording to independent tests of Internet speed performance over the past 90 days conducted by Speedtest. *. The results of this study show that Atlantic Broadbandnow delivers download speeds that are more than 30 times faster than the average customer gets from competitive providers. For example, this would mean that downloading a 5GB HD movie would take roughly five hours with Verizon DSL versus under 10 minutes with Atlantic Broadband’s “Unleashed” Internet service and downloading 50 songs would take 14 minutes with DSL compared to under 30 seconds with Atlantic Broadband’s“Unleashed”service.

“Consumers’ appetite for speed is always increasing,” said Atlantic Broadband’s Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer, David Isenberg.“Only Atlantic Broadband has continually invested to upgrade the speed of our networks and we are committed to staying one step ahead of today’s active Internet user and manysteps ahead of our competition when it comes to delivering the best speeds.” A recentFCC report states that download speeds of at least 10Mbps lead to the best experience for basic web browsing todaywhile higherspeeds may providesignificant advantages in a multi-user household or where a consumer is using intensive applications such as streaming movies or video gaming.

Over 70% of Atlantic Broadband’s new customers are buying its faster “Express” or “Unleashed” Internet services. According to Isenberg,“the recent launch of the new Xbox One and PS4 gaming consoles, designed to take maximum advantage of broadband connections, highlight the growth in demand for faster speeds. As customers unwrap new gaming consoles or new tablet devices this holiday season we are here for them with a fast and reliable network to help them enjoy their new gifts.”

Atlantic Broadband will be rolling out its new “Express” and “Unleashed” Internet speeds to both new and existing customers. Existing customers of Atlantic Broadband’s “Express” and “Unleashed” Internet services will receive the faster speeds automatically as of December 3. New Internet customers may take advantage of special promotional rates or save even more when they choose a bundle that combines Internet, TV and Phone service.
