1) Tournament Information

2) Tournament Play and Team Information

2.7 GAME RULES OF CONDUCT

All games must be played in the spirit of the rules outlined in the RBI Administrative Handbook. Specifically, the following rules will be strictly enforced:

a) Smoking and/ or the use of tobacco products is prohibited at all games, practices, events, and in the hotel rooms (C5).

b) The use of alcoholic beverages and/ or drugs is prohibited at all games, practices, events and in the hotel room (C7).

c) No swearing, taunting or ethnic slurs will be tolerated (C2, C6, C13).

d) No gang signs, slogans or paraphernalia (WS-14).

e) No jewelry, except medical identification, is to be worn during games (G-27).

2.8 AWARDS

A team trophy will be presented to the team champions in each respective division (John Young Trophy-Junior Baseball, Trophy-Senior Baseball, Dolly Vardens Trophy-softball). Individual awards will be presented to all championship game participants.

3) Weather and Safety Information

3.1 IN THE EVENT OF RAIN OR OTHER WEATHER CONDITIONS:

a) If there is visible lighting or any lighting within a three-mile radius of any field, play will stop until the condition has cleared.

b) At the direction of tournament staff, teams will be directed from the field to the nearest shelter. Cleated shoes or spikes may not be permitted in sheltered locations.

c) In the event of an extended delay, if games have completed five (or 4 1/ 2 with the home team ahead), a completed game may be declared to keep the tournament on schedule. Such decision will be in Major League Baseball’s RBI World Series staff’s sole discretion.

d) If less than five innings were completed at the time of the delay, we will attempt to complete the game through (at least) five innings, and possibly delay the start of the following game. Subsequent games may be limited to five innings, and the evening activity schedule altered.

e) In accordance with RBI rules, any game not completed due to weather, darkness, power failure or otherwise, may be a suspended game and play may be resumed from the point of suspension; if inclement weather forces drastic schedule changes, teams may be scheduled to play three (3) games in one day, but such games will be limited to five (5) innings.

f) If the final game(s) of the day is (are) delayed, every attempt will be made to complete the game(s) by midnight.

g) In the event of an extended delay, alternate activities may be scheduled (e.g.: movies)

h) Any and all weather or schedule changes will be up to MLB’s sole discretion.

3.2 ATHLETIC TRAINING SERVICE FAST FACTS:

a) Athletic training services will be provided by the host, Jackie Robinson Training Complex.

b) Operating Hours Athletic trainers will arrive approximately one-half hour before competition, unless otherwise requested, and will depart one half hour after completion ends or when the last athlete has been attended to and departed.

c) Operations The athletic training staff will provide prevention, recognition, evaluation, and assessment of athletic injuries for participating players and coaches.

d) Athletic training services will be provided for all athletes, under the guidelines of a certified athletic trainer.

e) Direct assistance will be provided to the athlete when and if it becomes necessary for additional care.

f) Items included and not exclusive are: management taping, on-site recognition of injury, evaluation of injuries, heating pads and ice, stretching, muscle massage, and other matters which may arise at a particular event.

3.3 CONCUSSIONS

League representatives are strongly encouraged to educate themselves on protection of the health and safety of young athletes, including being fully familiar with approved protocol for dealing with actual or potential concussions in young athletes (see, for example, the Center for Disease Control website www.cdc.gov/ concussion/ ). Coaches should be fully familiar and comply with all applicable laws and regulations, both in its home state and in any state in which it plays games, including those relating to concussions in young athletes. See Florida’s Concussion Policy: Applicable law and procedures for Concussions Policy should be followed.

7) RBI Workout Day / Softball Skills Competition

For baseball, Major League Baseball, Baseball and Softball Development representatives will conduct Workout Day. The workout will consists of identification skill events. The following is a description of Workout Day:

7.1 MLB SCOUT TRYOUT WORKOUT DAY FORMAT

◊ Each team will select 5 players only to participate together, regardless of position ◊ Each player will be evaluated at their primary position (, infielder or ) ◊ All 5 selected players will the 60 yards dash in pairs by position and age ◊ will make two throws to third base and two throws to home plate. ◊ Infielders will make five throws to first base; two groundballs at them; one backhand, one forehand and one slow roller. ◊ will make three throws to third base. ◊ Catchers will make four throws to second base ◊ Each position player will take 4 swings during batting practice ◊ Due to the ongoing tournament, will not be evaluated on the workout day

7.2 SOFTBALL SKILLS COMPETITION

◊ Each team will have the opportunity to compete in three different categories. o Running: runners will run from home to first (warm-up), then home to home (official time) o Throwing: infield - from the SS position and outfield from the RF positions. Infield will take four ground balls throwing to 1st base, 1 warm-up throw followed by 3 official throws. Outfield will take four ground balls, 1 warm-up throw to third base, followed by 3 official throws to home. o Homerun Derby: Each hitter will get 10 hits to it out of the park. ◊ Each team will select the following: o Running: 2 top runners o Throwing: 1 infielder / 1 Outfielder o Homerun Derby: 2 top homerun hitters ◊ We will work on a team point system to determine the winners for each category. ◊ Winners will be announced during closing banquet.

RBI on-site public relations involve notifying the media of issues and/or events related to the RBI World Series. In order to get the information to the media, we will need your assistance.

Should you have any stories regarding a team, individual player, or anything newsworthy occurring at the tournament, please let us know. This story can be about something that occurred leading up to the World Series or anything of interest that may happen during the event.

All public relations efforts will be coordinated through Major League Baseball on-site PR staff during the entire event. We can be reached in person on the fields or in the office, which is located in Championship Hall at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex.

We will be updating local and national media daily with results and standings as well as any newsworthy stories we receive.

11) About Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI)

 Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) is a youth outreach program designed to: 1) Increase participation and interest in baseball and softball 2) Encourage academic participation and achievement 3) Increase number of talented athletes prepared to play in college and minor leagues 4) Promote greater inclusion of minorities into the mainstream of the game 5) Teach the value of teamwork

 RBI programs have been started in more than 200 cities worldwide, and annually provide nearly 150,000 boys and girls from the ages of five (5) to eighteen (18) the opportunity to play baseball and softball.

 MLB and its Clubs have designated more than $30 million worth of resources to the RBI program and all 30 Major League Baseball Clubs support RBI programs, and 24 directly operate or are actively involved in local programs.

 Since the inception of the RBI program in 1989, MLB Clubs have drafted more than 185 RBI participants, including eight players selected overall in 2019.

 The RBI program features educational and life skills components. Local RBI programs have the opportunity to conduct a variety of courses, including: o The RBI for RBI Scholarship program has provided over sixty $20,000 scholarships for college-bound high school seniors that participate in RBI programs
