A Voter can check to see if they’re on the Voters’ List & complete a paper form to be added to the list or correct their information. In-Person Voters’ List Revisions September 4 – October 19, 2018 Voters can visit any Markham Public Library branch during operating hours to complete a paper revision form. A Voter can complete a paper form to be added to the list or their information. Online Voters’ List Revisions September 4 – October 22, 2018 A Voter can go online to complete an online form to add/correct their information. ID Required to get on Voters’ List Update • Photo ID; & • Proof of Markham residency or non-residency eligibility Register to be Added • Photo ID; & • Proof of Markham residency or non-residency eligibility; & • Proof of Canadian Citizenship List of acceptable forms of ID found online Voter Information Packages Late September via mail OR via email afterwards In-Person ID Requirements Skip the line, vote online! Accessible Voting Options • Online Voting: eligible voters can use their own assistive devices from the comfort of their own home, office or anywhere with an internet connection • Voter Assistance Centres: Locations are fully accessible + election staff will be trained to assist voters Accessible Voting Options • Sip & Puff & Paddles: Voting equipment will be outfitted to enable voters to mark ballots independently • Magnifying Sheets: Assist voters with low vision • Pen Grips: Available in various sizes to assist in marking ballot • Audio Assistance: Audio ballot for visually impaired that allows for voter to control speed, volume & repeat selections Election Sign Enforcement • Candidates who wish to place signs on local or regional roads are required to obtain a Sign Permit from the City. • The City will not investigate reports of sign theft or damage - these concerns should be reported to the police. • There is a $25 service fee for each sign removed. • Candidates will be provided updates on the number of election signs removed on a weekly basis. 24 Election Sign Workshops The City is hosting Election Sign Workshops at the Markham Civic Centre at the following times: • Tuesday September 11, 2018 – 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM • Thursday September 13, 2018 – 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM 25 Paper Ballot Vote Tabulator Testing As outlined in the City of Markham’s Vote Counting Procedures, all Certified Candidates in the 2018 Markham Municipal Election will be notified when the paper ballot vote tabulators are being tested: • Sunday September 9, 2018 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM Markham Civic Centre – Canada Room 26 PIN Security Concerns by Voters Demo Online Ballot • Engage & educate voters to use online ballot • Relieve anxieties & concerns • Reduce # of voters who require assistance at Voter Assistance Centres (VAC) • Minimize lines at (VAC) QUESTIONS? 29 How did we do tonight?
