The No. 2 seed is playing for the fifth time at the event and 10th time overall in Shanghai, including Tennis Masters Cup appearances in 2002 and 2005-08. Federer’s opponent, qualifier Albert Ramos-Viñolas, is 0-15 against Top 10 opponents (2-35 in sets).
