With a little bit of help from an unexpected source and a fabulous pair of heels, Cindy realizes that she still has a chance at a happily ever after. I just finished this and I must say that it really was cute. There were certain moments that I was really drawn in and wanted to read more and more and more. Although it presents itself as a modern day Cinderella, it really isnt. The only similarities that there are, are that her name is Cindy Ella, and at the very very VERY end, someone makes themselves known as a godmother (of sorts). The only thing that makes them a godmother is that they take her to buy a dress and find a good pair of shoes to go with said dress. Thats it. Nothing else Cinderella-ish. That was kind of a let down. I was expecting something more. Like the other books that are modern retellings. Anyway though, it was a good book. It was cute, and had funny parts. I tend to read younger books (teen romance, paranormal romance, etc) so I thought this would be for the same type of audience. BUT, it seemed to be for even younger people. Im a 25 year old Female, so any younger, and it starts to get into childrens books. For the price, the book is not really too bad. Im still comfortable with saying I spent $8 on it and not regretting it. All in all, it was a decent read and worth it for something light, and not too time consuming. ALSO, it seems like A LOT of elements are very similar (if not identical) to the Cinderella Story films. For instance, in the book, one of Cindys best friends has a van that is always breaking down (and is called Goldie Hawn). Theyre lucky if it runs, let alone if the doors open. In Cinderella Story 2, the girls best friend has a big van named Pumpkin that always breaks down, falls apart, etc. One of the girls in the book also posts a giant poster (all over school) of Cindy from a year picture. Its apparently, completely humiliating. In Cinderella Story 2, they show the video of Mary, which is also humiliating. And in Cinderella Story 1, they show her emails (re-enacted as a play). Theres just some noticeable things in the book that make it seem like the idea is not original in the least. BUT, like I said earlier, it was a decent read and for the price you really cant go wrong. This year with the new superintendent, middle school reform is a priority issue. However, because Betsy Ross is an established magnet school it cannot share in the federal funds, which have been made available to start new magnet schools and to instigate middle school reform. So without the benefit of outside resources the faculty at Betsy Ross is being asked to devise new scheduling matrixes and to create new curriculums to more fully coordinate the arts classes with the academic classes. I plan to use the resources of the Yale New Haven Teachers Institute to create a folk tale curriculum that could be extended to involve the reading laboratory with the fifth and sixth grade English and drama departments. Such a curriculum would meet a zeal need. Towards this end the primary goals of this unit are to foster critical thinking skills, to sharpen writing skills, and to refine public speaking skills. These goals will be met by reading fairy tales, comparing fairy tales, writing fairy tales, and telling fairy tales. I chose to base this unit on three familiar fairy tales: “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Cinderella”, and “Jack and the Beanstalk”. The African story “Three Rival Brothers” plus two African-American stories “A Wolf and Little Daughter” and “Wiley, His Momma, and the Hairy Man” expand upon the basic theme of the heroes using their wits and seizing whatever opportunity to achieve happiness, to grow up or simply to stay alive.

    20 Caitlyn Daczyk, from Minneapolis, Minnesota, is currently a double major in Psychology and English at St. Norbert College. She is interested in old movies, and others have described her as witty, intelligent, and caring. She enjoys writing fairy tales, including her new fairy tale, which reveals what happens to Cinderella after she marries her prince. It turns out Prince Charming is not as charming as we thought. Allison Shackelton After Happily Ever After Caitlyn Daczyk What is supposed to happen happily ever after? Whatever happened to Cinderella and Prince Charming? The last thing I remember is they got married, shared a loving embrace, and that was the end. The problem is, “The End” never actually is the end; it’s some place between marriage and—in this case—divorce. In case you’ve forgotten how Prince Charming and Cinderella met, I will quickly give you the condensed version. Cinderella and Prince Charming met at a ball a couple of years ago. She was pretty, graceful on the dance floor, and had small feet. He was rich. Soon after their enchanted meeting, the two got married. You might be wondering why these two lovebirds are getting a divorce; lucky for you, I know exactly why—I am Cinderella’s divorce lawyer. A couple of months ago, Cindy (she prefers Cindy) sent me a letter requesting my help. I suppose this is the best place to start: To Whom It May Concern: My name is Cinderella Charming and I am in desperate need of a divorce lawyer. A couple of months ago, I began to get the sneaking suspicion that my husband, Prince Charming, was being unfaithful.
