E­ mail: [email protected] Les proliferacions de meduses i altres organismes components de l'anomenat plancton gela­ tinós són un fenomen natural tant en aigües costaneres com ocdmiques. L'augment d'observacions és un fet confirmat per la comunitat científica perque l'enregistrament d'eixams s'ha incrementat en els darrers anys (Mills, 2001; Purcell, 2005). Aquest fenomen ha creat un cert senyal d'alarma, perque causen importants problemes en algunés activitats economiques i en la gesti6 deIs recursos naturals. Alguns canvis en el clima global de la Terra i alteracions produi"des per l'activitat humana han intro­ dui"t una enorme incertesa en els ritmes deIs ecosistemes marins. Els oceans i especialment les zones costaneres estan alterats tant per la contaminació com per la sobrepesca. Gran part de 1'energia que abans circulava per les moles de peixos ara és processada per altres depredadors -especialment cnida­ ris i ctenofors- que omplen un espai en 1'espai trofic (Mills, 1995). Sobre la validez taxonómica de Trochoidea (Xerocrassa) cardonae (Hidalgo, 1867) (Gastropoda: Hygromiidae). Boll. Soco Hist. Nat. Balears, 44: SHNB 41-55. ISSN 0212-260X. Palma de Mallorca. El hallazgo de una población de Trochoidea (Xerocrassa) cardonae, ha permitido la revi­ sión de este taxon y su comparación con Trochoidea (Xerocrassa) nyeli (Mittre, 1844). Se han comparado la morfología y la morfometría de la concha, la genitalia, la morfo­ logía externa del animal y el hábitat de las dos especies. El carácter conquiológico que diferencia más claramente Trochoidea cardonae de Trochoidea nyeli es la presencia de unos pelos periostracales muy cortos en la concha. De les 30 espècies de gasteròpodes terrestres recents i pleistocèniques de l'Arxipèlag de Cabrera, només 6 han estat trobades en jaciments pre-humans; una d'aquestes desaparegué amb la darrera glaciació, i la majoria de les altres s'han diferenciat a nivell subespecífic en els diferents illots. Un llimac, una espècie no descrita de zonítid, i potser un vertigínid, es consideren també autòctons. Les altres 21 espècies han estat molt probablement introduïdes en diferents moments pels humans. Dues d'aquestes s'han extingit, una s'ha rarificat molt, i una altra sembla que no ha arribat a establir-se. Dos grans helícids es troben representats per exemplars gegantins, possiblement indicant diferen­ ciació local. La conservació dels elements autòctons requereix la preservació de la identitat de les diferents poblacions; així mateix, seria desitjable l'eliminació dels conreus, les rates, i les ovelles, per tal de permetre la recupe­ ració de la vegetació, i reduir la predació selectiva sobre alguns endemismes. THE LAND SNAILS AND SLUGS (MOLLUSCA: GASTROPODA). The land molluscan fauna of Cabrera appears to result from a dynamic process. Of the 30 terrestrial gastropod species found in the Cabrera Archipelago, only 6 have been found in pre-human sites.

PONS i José Ángel MARTÍN PRIETO Societat d’Història Natural de les Balears, carrer Margarida Xirgu 16 baixos, Palma de Mallorca, Grup de recerca BIOGEOMED, [email protected] Resum En aquest treball s’ha intentat actualitzar el catàleg dels endemismes faunístics de les Balears, recopilant les noves descripcions de tàxons des de 1996, any de la publicació del llibre Fauna endèmica de les Illes Balears (Pons i Palmer, 1996). S’han realitat incorporacions de tàxons amb descripcions anteriors a 1996 que no apareixen en dita obra. En total es comenten 119 tàxons endèmics en els quals es relaciona la localitat tipus, situació del material tipus i informació sobre la seva distribució coneguda. S’ha creat una taula base amb 727 entrades de localitats. Les zones amb major presència són l’illa de l’Aire, illa den Colom i quadrícula compartida de s’Albufera d’es Grau, amb la presència de 22 espècies. També en alguns casos també es fan comentaris sobre la distribució o taxonomia. S’eliminen de la fauna endèmica de Menorca tota una sèrie d’espècies. S’emfatitza sobre la importància del coneixement i la conservació d’invertebrats dins les polítiques europees i de la nostra comunitat. Paraules clau: endemismes faunístics, Illes Balears, conservació d’invertebrats. Els invertebrats terrestres endèmics de Menorca Conèixer la fauna endèmica de qualsevol territori és una tasca importantíssima per la seva conservació. Els ecosistemes insulars són els més fràgils pel que fa a la conservació d’aquests endemismes.

Abstract: Creoleon prolongaveruntus sp. nov. is described, figured from the island of Socotra (Yemen) and compared to Creoleon aegyptiacus (Rambur, 1842), Creoleon elegans Hölzel, 1968 and Creoleon mortifer (Walker, 1853). Keywords: ant-lion, new species, Socotra Introduction Socotra is one of the best preserved semi-arid tropical islands in the world, and char- acterized by a high diversity of plant and animal species as well as a high degree of endemism (Wranik 2003). The insect fauna of Socotra was recently summarized by Bezděk & Hájek (2018) in this paper one Creoleon species was included, namely: Creoleon mortifer (Walker, 1853). Based on the papers published by Whittington (2002) and Ábrahám (2010, 2011), they 13 Myrmeleontidae species enumerated and additionally 2 species indentified till genus level. At first, Kirby (1903) documented the occurrence of Creoleon species as Craegris mortifer (Walker, 1853) in the fauna of Socotra. Approximately half century later, Kimmins (1960) reported Craegris mortifer (Walker, 1853) from this island. Furthermore Whittington (2002) published additional faunistic data on this species. In two short publications (Ábrahám 2010, 2011) I described two new antlion species from this island and recorded further Myrmeleontidae species.
