Helloween – Sascha G. interviewt Sascha G. Martin Häusler Viele Fans „anspruchsvoller“ Musik, die Mitte der 1970er geboren sind, dürften in ihrer Jugend ihre ersten Erfahrungen mit Dreizehn-Minuten-Songs, virtuosen Performances und episch aufgebauten Kompositionen voller thematischer Wechsel und Entwicklungen mit den beiden „Keeper Of The Seven Keys“-Alben von Helloween gemacht haben. Metal-Alben, die weit mehr boten, als der Metal der späten Achtziger für gewöhnlich zu bieten hatte und konsequenterweise auch außerhalb des Spartenpublikums viele Fans gewannen – ähnlich wie fast zeitgleich Die Toten Hosen im Punkrock. Wo „die Hosen“ allerdings zum Unmut der Altfans beständig diesen Anspruch weiterverfolgten, verloren Helloween das Mainstream-Publikum bei Line-up-Wechseln und nach dem experimentellen (aber großartigen!) „Chameleon“-Album. Die folgende Rückkehr ins Metal-Genre hielt die Band am Leben, aber eine ganze Reihe Nachwuchsmetaller, die ihrerseits hörbar von Helloween beeinflusst waren, zog langsam an den Innovatoren vorbei. Doch Helloween haben sich in ihrer seit 2005 beständigen Besetzung mit großartigen Alben stetig ihren Platz zurückerkämpft, und als 2016 mit Kai Hansen und Michael Kiske die beiden Ex-Sänger der Band wieder zum festen Line-up stießen, fanden sich Helloween plötzlich genau da, wo sie 1989 gewesen waren: auf der Höhe einer Erfolgswelle. Nun erscheint das erste gemeinsame Album der siebenköpfigen Schlüsselmeister-Truppe – und Gitarrist Sascha Gerstner hat sich die Zeit genommen, Prog-Betreuer Sascha G. (nicht verwandt oder gar identisch), alles Wissenswerte zum „Helloween“-Album zu verraten. Die Rezension zum Album (#TotW auf BetreutesProggen.de i.d. KW24) findet Ihr übrigens genau hier! SUBTERRANEAN MASQUERADE - The Great Bazaar Cat # TAK002 Format: Limited eition Digibook / Vinyl Style: Symphonic Progmetal Artist Website: www.submasq.net www.facebook.com/submasq "Welcome to the carnival of the dysfunctional and the disturbed" Formed back in 1997 with an idea to mix progressive rock, doom metal and 70's-inspired psychedelic rock, Subterranean Masquerade creates music with that edge of extreme metal and the loose atmosphere of Pink Floyd and Iron butterfly. While admittedly not such a pioneering idea on its own, the vision of freeing metal music from genre boundaries, wrapped by grand production is what often make the band's music sound like a carnival of different colors and scents… a masquerade! Subterranean Masquerade's music first came into the world back in 2000 with a cover version of Peter Murphy's classic "Cut's you up". The cover, released as part of an 80's metal cover compilation album, was recorded with guest appearances by Tomas Lindberg of At the Gates, Kobi Farhi of Orphaned Land and produced by Dori Bar Or from Eternal Gray. The first official band release came in the form of a semi-acoustic two track EP (17 minutes long) entitled "Temporary Psychotic State", this recording featured Paul Khur of Novembers doom as the lead vocalist as well as JWW of Agalloch on bass guitar and Andy Winter from the band WINDS on some of the keys and synths. Released later that year by THE END RECORDS, the EP was received with highly positive reviews from media and fans alike. In the midst of working on a full length album, the band entered the studio to record a DEAD CAN DANCE cover track.

SPINSTER ECOLOGY: RETHINKING RELATION IN THE AMERICAN LITERARY ENVIRONMENT A Dissertation Presented to the Faculty of the Graduate School of Cornell University in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy by Sarah Elizabeth Ensor August 2012 © 2012 Sarah Elizabeth Ensor Sarah Elizabeth Ensor, Ph.D. Cornell University 2012 Spinster Ecology develops a practice of queer ecocriticism by articulating intersections between nineteenth-century American literature and twentieth-century environmental thought. Focusing on texts by Sarah Orne Jewett, Henry David Thoreau, and Rachel Carson in which attention to the natural world is interwoven with a particularly reticent form of social interaction, the dissertation argues for the relational capacity of interpersonal and environmental forces typically understood to preclude connection: distance and remoteness, absence and silence, backwardness and death. Rethinking these categories as relational helps both to identify and to remedy a theoretical impasse that currently divides queer theory from ecocriticism: namely, the fields’ conflicting stances toward (reproductive) futurity and toward the status of desire, pleasure, and limitation. Early attempts at queering ecocriticism have tended to emphasize non- normative uses of natural spaces or to trouble the conceptions of nature and “the natural” that undergird mainstream environmentalism. My project, by contrast, locates queer theory’s contribution to ecocriticism in questions of temporality, sociality, and tone. More specifically, I identify the spinster as a model for paradigms of relation, transmission, and inheritance that are indirect or askance. Taking heed of spinsterliness not only as a characterological or biographical phenomenon but also in its formal and stylistic instantiations, I argue, can help queer ecocriticism better engage literature.
