WELCOME FROM THE PRESIDENT Our weeklong Centennial Celebration, 100 Years/100 Events, is packed with activities. The celebration kicks off Sunday, September 20 at Crabtree Nature Center with Art in Nature. Events will take place throughout the County all week through Sunday, September 27, and culminate at Caldwell Woods with the largest tree hug in Cook County! This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for us all to celebrate one of the oldest and largest forest preserves in the nation. Thanks to our many partners and volunteers, there are activities for all ages, interests and skill sets. Activities range from organized events like fishing, archery, nature hikes and bird walks to simply taking a bike ride or jog on your own or with a friend. Staying true to the Forest Preserves’ mission of restoration, you can also learn how our dedicated stewards and volunteers clear invasive plants and help native species recover. The weeklong celebration not only marks this historic anniversary, it will form a life-long connection with nature and encourage more people to use the preserves regularly. Be sure to share the fun with your online networks by posting your photos and including #100events. See you in the preserves!
