3/1/2017 9:15:34 AM Our first-ever Grade 6 Music Evening

the event: On February 2nd, the Prep School Music Department hosted our inaugural Grade 6 Musicians Evening -- a novel and exciting idea created by the music department that would allow our youngest members of the programme to demonstrate their ability as both artists and teachers.

the concept: Our Grade 6 musicians would invite their parents to become the students while they became the teachers. They would perform for their parents and teach them how to play a few notes. They even provided their parents a report card to demonstrate their progress. Music Don’t worry, Parents, this was a “for learning” assessment! Competition: the evidence: As music teachers, we witnessed some incredible things happening. Parents were able to witness their children's knowledge and abilities. More importantly, they realized exactly what it Success takes to create sound from nothing. As many parents commented after the evening was over, “This was one of the hardest things I have ever had Our Prep, and Upper School Music programs to do, and my child does this every day”. In addition, the students gained entered the Humber College Next Generation a sense of pride that they were able to get their mothers or fathers to Jazz Festival and the Greater Toronto Kiwanis create sound and some even played "We Will Rock You" by Queen.
