Wednesday Bornholmer Street Based on true events, this film offers a comic look at the day the Berlin Wall came down. It is told from the point of view of 6 April the East German border guards at the Bornholmer St border checkpoint, who learn from a TV broadcast that East German. 2014. Germans are now free to pass the checkpoint without a visa. Panic sets in as their superiors repeatedly tell them that no 7.15pm decision has been made, and to stay calm. As the evening progresses, East Germans gather in increasing number, and 89 min. staying calm becomes impossible for the outnumbered guards.

Wednesday For the Term of His This landmark silent Australian film , partly shot on location at Port Arthur is based on the novel by Marcus 4 May Natural Life Clarke. It follows the story of a young aristocrat who was transported from England to Van Dieman's Land for a crime he did not commit. This film has been re-assembled from the remains of the original Australian print and 7.15pm Silent. 1927. 101min. an edited US print. It was the most expensive film ever made in its time. An Australian classic.

Wednesday Persona Ingmar Bergman's psychological drama brings two of his favourite actresses together, Liv Ullman and Bibi 1 June Andersson in this exploration of identity. Ullman plays an actress whose nervous breakdown drives her to Swedish. 1966. deliberately withdraw into speechlessness. As a result of this, it breaks down her nurse's confident personality 7.15pm (played by Andersson), where the actress creates a void by her silence, in which the nurse falls into by 82 min. speaking. Wednesday Breaker Morant Three Australian Army officers seconded to the Bushveldt Carabineers are court-marshalled for war crimes in 6 July South Africa during the Boer War. Director Peter Weir rallies a stellar Australian cast (, John English. 1980. Waters, , Chris Hayward) with British actor Edward Woodward in a gripping courtroom drama with 7.15pm exterior battle action to highlight themes of personal bravery and national loyalty. 102 min.

Wednesday The Jazz Singer Credited as the first sound feature, this film's enormous popularity revolutionised the American film industry. Al 3 August Jolson plays the son of a Jewish cantor who, much to his father's displeasure, rejects the family's singing English. 1927. tradition to follow a jazz singing career as a cabaret entertainer - a role that paralleled Jolson's own rise to 7.15pm fame. Wednesday The Wild Duck Henrik Ibsen's play about false self image and the complex secrets behind family relationships is given a 7 September Tasmanian setting in 1913 by director Henri Safran. Jeremy Irons plays a self-styled inventor with Liv Ullmann English. 1984. as his wife Gina. Gregory, returning after 16 years, is played by Arthur Dignam. John Meillon plays an irascible 7.15pm grandfather, Michael Pate the careless shooter of the wild duck, whose symbolism over-arches the entire story. 99 min. This charming production features intricate Interiors and exteriors, costumes, architecture, transport and design of the 1890s. Remarkable cinematography echoes the technical expertise of photography in that era. Wednesday The Leopard - Il Famous Italian director Luchino Visconti (Death in Vence, The Damned) brings Burt Lancaster and Caudia 5 October Gattopardo Cardinale to the adaptation of Lampedusa's novel set in the 1860's in Sicily. This period saw the making of modern Italy where there was the emergence of the bourgeoisie at the expense of the landed aristocracy. 7.15pm Italian/English. 1963. Visconti identifies himself with Don Fabrizio (The Leopard), the ageing patriach but it is his younger nephew 180 min. Tancredi who states "if everything is to remain the same, everything must change".

Wednesday Singin' in the Rain This much loved film ( openly claims that it is his favourite film) is imbued with eternal freshness. 2 November This is due in part to a vast amount of improvisation which took place in its making. It brings a suite of talent - English. 1952. Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O'Connor. Not only is this one of Hollywood's finest musicals it is also 7.15pm an intelligent and affectionate satire on the coming of synchronised sound and cleverly erases the distinction 102 min. between the narrative and the musical numbers. No easy feat yet masterfully executed.

Wednesday My Life as a Dog A coming of age story with uncommon depth and sensitivity. Set in 1950s Sweden, 12 year old Ingemar's 7 December father has deserted the family, and his mother is increasingly unable to cope because of illness. He is sent to Swedish. 1985. live with rural relatives where he experiences the contrast between the eccentricities of rural village life, and 7.15pm the harsh realities of city living. It is a poignant picture of youthful tenacity in the face of the challenges that life 101 min. throws him.
