    - Dante Spallanzani mat. 59152 - Nato a Sampierdarena (Ge) il 9 agosto 1907, abitava in Viale Lombardia 11. Arrestato l’11 marzo 1944. Deportato a Mauthausen, successivamente trasferito a Gusen e infine a Melk-Quarz. Deceduto a Melk, sottocampo di Mauthausen, il 31 gennaio 1945. Vive un’esperienza simile a quella del Panizza. Ha come compagno di sventura Carlo Annovazzi il capo reparto della mamma del Panizza (esperienza precedente) ed entrambi vengono arrestati la sera del sabato 11 marzo. Lo Spallan- zani abitava, con la moglie Bianca, la nipote Liliana e dal settembre 1943 anche con il fratello Gino, sistemato ‘roccambolescamente’ alla Caproni sot- traendolo alle nefaste conseguenze dell’8 settembre 1943 (era un militare di leva – classe 1920 - del genio). Gino, (mio pa- dre), era stato sul fronte francese (pochissimo, nel 1940) e in Albania/Yugoslavia/Grecia dal 1940 al 1943 e fu proprio nell’estate del 43 che si ammalò, gli venne l’itterizia e fu dunque rimpatriato e man- dato a Trieste>, (dopo una breve sosta a Gioia del Colle), in ospedale, ed è qui che si trovava ricoverato nella prima decade di settembre del 1943. La stragrande maggioranza dei militari ricoverati ‘fuggirono’ cercando di tornare a casa in abiti civili affrontando i relativi pericoli. Mio padre rimase in ospedale, preferendo scrivere a suo fratello Dante per chiedere come comportarsi. Lo zio Dante, già membro della lotta clandestina (nelle file del PCI), consapevole dei pericoli, immediatamente si attivò e con documenti falsificati lo prelevò (in pratica preparò una documentazione che affermava che suo fratello, tornitore specializzato, era dipendente della Caproni, azienda impegnata nello sforzo bellico).
