Lyon, listed as a Unesco World Heritage, is famous world wide for its typical French cuisine. LYON 1. ACCESS TO LYON 1.1. GETTING THERE Lyon is right in the heart of Europe, midway between London and Milan, Brussels and Marseille, Munich and Madrid. With Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport, France’s TGV, high-speed train links, and a network of major European motorways, Lyon and the Rhône area are at one of Europe’s major transport interchanges. 1.1.1. Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport The Lyon Airport, 25 km east of Lyon, is a key transport hub where air routes, high-speed TGV train and major European motorways all meet. One-way: 8.20 Euros – Return: 14.00 Euros 1.1.2 Paris Roissy-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport and TGV Train An other convenient way to reach Lyon is to arrive in Paris Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport and then use the high-speed train – TGV. The TGV station, located in Terminal 2 of Roissy-CDG airport provides for quick and easy connections between the train and the aircraft. Trains reach Lyon in 2 hours, every 1 hour. Train ticket and seat allocation have to be booked in advance. “Package” can provide you a travel discount coupon(s) for the French Railway organisation SNCF to obtain a discount of 20% during the Congress dates on a return ticket only. There are three Railway Stations in Lyon : Part-Dieu, Perrache, Lyon Saint-Exupéry. We recommend you to get off at Part-Dieu Station which the central down town Station. Part-Dieu Railway Station is about 15 minutes by public transport from the conference site. The poster sessions and other events will be held in the Forum, a 3000 m² area with many possible configurations. A business centre will be available in the forum with, photocopier, fax, Internet access (webmail only) and travel desk. 2.2. An identification badge will be provided upon registration at the IAEA Conference Desk at the Palais des Congrès. The badge is required for access to the conference area and for all social events. Registration times at the Conference Desk are the following: Sunday 13rd October 2002 from 16:00 to 20:00 Monday 14th October 2002 and the following days from 08:00 to 18:00 4. HOTEL ACCOMMODATION Block bookings have been made in various hotels in downtown Lyon from 12 to 20 October 2002 (see list of hotels overleaf). The map of Lyon indicates the location of these hotels, the Palais des Congrès and the TGV train station. You are urged to reserve your accommodation as soon as possible as October is usually a very busy period in Lyon. The deadline for receipt of room reservation is 2 August 2002. HOW TO BOOK A ROOM Reservation must be made through the attached reservation form only (see page 7) which has to be sent by fax or e-mail to “Package”. Refer to the above hotel list, then mention in order of preference, 4 hotels. Reservation cannot be processed without payment of the requested hotel deposit, which is two nights in advance of your first hotel choice. The remittance balance of your stay must be paid at your hotel in Lyon. Methods of payment in Euros : cheques, bank transfers, credit cards (VISA - EURO-MASTER CARD - DINERS) payable to “Package”. Once your request has been received and processed by “Package”, confirmation of your reservation will be sent to you by air mail with a receipt of payment, a brochure of your hotel and a practical information document.
