Star Wars: the Force Awakens Heroine Rey Debuts As Newest Wax Figure at Madame Tussauds London
STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS HEROINE REY DEBUTS AS NEWEST WAX FIGURE AT MADAME TUSSAUDS LONDON Tuesday August 9, 2016. Hot on the heels of her Teen Choice Award for Movie Breakout Star as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Daisy Ridley today received another much coveted accolade as her character joined a cast of heroes and villains in the epic Star Wars experience at Madame Tussauds London. Ridley’s character, Rey, is the eighteenth to be portrayed in the hugely popular attraction and stands proudly holding her staff, dressed in an exact replica of the tattered scavenger’s clothing she wears in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Her figure resides in a set depicting the trader’s tent in the lawless frontier desert world of Jakku and is featured alongside the skittish but loyal astromech droid, BB-8. Guests can step right into the recreated scene and summon up their inner rebels alongside the daring duo. "Since the Star Wars experience opened last May it has proved a massive hit with our guests," commented Edward Fuller, General Manager of Madame Tussauds London. He continued: "The intention was always to add new characters and scenes as the Star Wars story continues to evolve and we are delighted to welcome heroine, Rey, to the experience in the twelfth immersive set. The scenes we feature recreate some of the most powerful moments from the Star Wars universe and guests will recognise the trader’s tent on Jakku with its desert worn features." Rey's figure took a talented team of twenty artists four months to make. -

Shakespeare on Film, Video & Stage
William Shakespeare on Film, Video and Stage Titles in bold red font with an asterisk (*) represent the crème de la crème – first choice titles in each category. These are the titles you’ll probably want to explore first. Titles in bold black font are the second- tier – outstanding films that are the next level of artistry and craftsmanship. Once you have experienced the top tier, these are where you should go next. They may not represent the highest achievement in each genre, but they are definitely a cut above the rest. Finally, the titles which are in a regular black font constitute the rest of the films within the genre. I would be the first to admit that some of these may actually be worthy of being “ranked” more highly, but it is a ridiculously subjective matter. The Reel Truth: Women Aren’T Seen Or Heard an Automated Analysis of Gender Representation in Popular Films
The Reel Truth: Women Aren’t Seen or Heard An Automated Analysis of Gender Representation in Popular Films If she can see it, she can be it.™ “The GD -IQ is an extraordinary tool that gives us the power to uncover unconscious gender bias with a depth that had never been possible to date. Our hope is that we can use this technology to push the boundaries of how we identify the representation imbalance in media. Media that is more representative of our society not only fosters a more inclusive industry, but by increasing the number and diversity of female leaders and role models on screen, content creators are affecting the ambitions and career aspirations of young girls and young women everywhere. If she can see it, she can be it.” - Geena Davis The Geena Davis Inclusion Quotient (GD-IQ) is a ground breaking software tool developed by the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media at Mount Saint Mary’s University to analyze audio and video media content. Funded by Google.org and incorporating Google’s machine learning technology, and the University of Southern California’s audio-visual processing technologies, GD-IQ is the only software tool in existence with the ability to measure screen and speaking time through the use of automation. This revolutionary tool was co-developed by the Institute and led by Dr. Shrikanth (Shri) Narayanan and his team of researchers at the University of Southern California’s Signal Analysis and Interpretation Laboratory (SAIL), with additional analysis from Dr. Caroline Heldman. Previous studies find that female characters are vastly underrepresented in film, and this has not changed much in the last half a century.1 In this report, we use the GD-IQ to not only analyze gender representation but also analyze screen time and speaking time in the top 100 grossing films of 2014 and 2015. -
Floristic Quality Assessment Report
FLORISTIC QUALITY ASSESSMENT IN INDIANA: THE CONCEPT, USE, AND DEVELOPMENT OF COEFFICIENTS OF CONSERVATISM Tulip poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) the State tree of Indiana June 2004 Final Report for ARN A305-4-53 EPA Wetland Program Development Grant CD975586-01 Prepared by: Paul E. Rothrock, Ph.D. Taylor University Upland, IN 46989-1001 Introduction Since the early nineteenth century the Indiana landscape has undergone a massive transformation (Jackson 1997). In the pre-settlement period, Indiana was an almost unbroken blanket of forests, prairies, and wetlands. Much of the land was cleared, plowed, or drained for lumber, the raising of crops, and a range of urban and industrial activities. Indiana’s native biota is now restricted to relatively small and often isolated tracts across the State. This fragmentation and reduction of the State’s biological diversity has challenged Hoosiers to look carefully at how to monitor further changes within our remnant natural communities and how to effectively conserve and even restore many of these valuable places within our State. To meet this monitoring, conservation, and restoration challenge, one needs to develop a variety of appropriate analytical tools. Ideally these techniques should be simple to learn and apply, give consistent results between different observers, and be repeatable. Floristic Assessment, which includes metrics such as the Floristic Quality Index (FQI) and Mean C values, has gained wide acceptance among environmental scientists and decision-makers, land stewards, and restoration ecologists in Indiana’s neighboring states and regions: Illinois (Taft et al. 1997), Michigan (Herman et al. 1996), Missouri (Ladd 1996), and Wisconsin (Bernthal 2003) as well as northern Ohio (Andreas 1993) and southern Ontario (Oldham et al. -
