Ealham, Chris 946'.0811 ISBN — 10:1-873976-24-0 Paperback ISBN — 10:1-873976-25-9 Bound We do nol make war just for the sake of making war. Were our movement compelled to be encapsulated by one blunt adjective that adjective would not be "warlike", but "revolutionary". There is yet time lor us to express ourselves in the most readily understood form possible. Definite facts and definite ideas must be given their proper names. There must be an end to this mistake of double entendres which complicate the dictionary. And the fact is that frequently a play on words is followed up by the fait accompli. "War" has been so loudly trumpeted as a synonym for "revolution" that we have been induced to invest in this war with all of the bellicose happened with discipline in the proper sense. There have been comrades aplenty who, despite their bona fides, have flirted with the term and spoken to us of discipline while painting this in colours diametrically opposed to freedom. This, far from rendering discipline more humane, is a bestialisation of freedom. It is not so very long ago that an attempt was made in our circles to peddle a version of discipline implying order and responsibility comparable with anarchy. Such an endeavour always called to our minds the idea of "good government" or "tutelary authority", as opposed to despotic or blatantly authoritarian government. And just as it has not been possible to sort governments into good ones and bad ones — since in fact there are, rather, only bad ones and worse ones — we have come to learn with the passage of time that all discipline is a tributary of regimentation. We aver that all wars are inauspicious. Were it our belief that we are making a war, we should be the first to desert. The fact is that war never erupts to the advantage of those who inflict and We are not fighting here to advance anyone's private interests, though there will be no shortage of bigwigs who will seek to commandeer the fruits of our struggle and gamble on the ups and downs of our successes and our reverses, turning our rearguard into a stockjobbers' lot. Our fight is against privilege and not for the nation, a fight for liberty and not for the fatherland, a fight for anarchy and not for the Republic. We risk our lives for the collective good and not for a privileged caste. While one of us remains standing, the social revolution, which is the driving force behind our liberation movement, will never want for defenders and combatants, whether they use pen, fist, word or rifle. Wc do not make war; war is always made for the purposes of someone else, and fought out between the brethren who are poor in spirit. We make revolution for the benefit of all human beings and against the cliques who are hangovers from parasitism and seli-contrcdness. And as we are making revolution, not one square metre of reconquered ground must be subtracted from the process of transformation, despite the froglike croaking of those whose lack of spirit and mettle inclines them to dabble in the stagnant waters of politicking.' — Editorial from Acmcia (Lleida), 1936-7 Contents Glossary of organisations Cazorla affair. The Brief Summer of Anarchy: The Life and Death of Durruti - Hans Magnus Enzensberger Introduction: Funerals The coffin arrived in Barcelona late at night. It rained all day, and the cars in the funeral cortege were covered with mud. The black and red flag that draped the hearse was also filthy. At the anarchist headquarters, which had been the headquarters of the employers association before the war,1 preparations had already been underway since the previous day. The lobby had been transformed into a funeral chapel. Somehow, as if by magic, everything was finished in time. The decorations were simple, without pomp or artistic flourishes. Red and black tapestries covered the walls, a red and black canopy surmounted the coffin, and there were a few candelabras, and some flowers and wreaths: that was all. Over the side doors, through which the crowd of mourners would have to pass, signs were inscribed, in accordance with Spanish tradition, in bold letters reading: “Durruti bids you to enter”; and “Durruti bids you to leave”. A handful of militiamen guarded the coffin, with their rifles at rest. Then, the men who had accompanied the coffin from Madrid carried it to the anarchist headquarters. No one even thought about the fact that they would have to enlarge the doorway of the building for the coffin to be brought into the lobby, and the coffin-bearers had to squeeze through a narrow side door. It took some effort to clear a path through the crowd that had gathered in front of the building. From the galleries of the lobby, which had not been decorated, a few sightseers watched.

  • “Study for the Implementation of a Smart Micro-Grid in Talavera De La Reina”
ESCUELA TÉCNICA SUPERIOR DE INGENIERÍA (ICAI) Degree in Electromechanical Engineering “Study for the implementation of a smart micro-grid in Talavera de la Reina” Author: Francisco Javier de la Pinta Pillin Director: Julio Montes Ponce de León 2 Executive Summary: This project proposes the installation of a micro-grid in the city of Talavera de la Reina. The project will take advantage of local non-manageable resources such as wind, small-hydro or solar PV for electricity production purposes. This system requires a power backing source for moments when power demand or supply require it. In this case, the system will utilise waste products generated in the area of study, transforming them into hydrogen through a plasma gasification process. That hydrogen, that can be stored, will then feed fuel cells, producing the required energy providing a clean, fast and effective response to demand and supply changes. The installation of the micro-grid responds to the broad advantages that distributed generation offers compared to the traditional centralised grid. This configuration will reduce significantly transport losses, as generation will be carried out next to consumption areas. It will as well integrate renewables effectively, eliminating the so-called special regime, that is one of the main contributors to the current increased price of electricity in Spain. In addition, the micro-grid will also provide a cutting-edge solution to EU regulations in the matter of waste management, being able to power-up the micro-grid with waste products in a clean and efficient way. There are many micro-grid examples throughout the world: In the remote island of Ta´U for instance they have achieved energy independence through a combined generation of solar PV power plants and batteries, being able to operate for three days without sunlight.
