Accommodation at 3 star+ class hotel in Copenhagen, centrally located Day 2: COPENHAGEN - ODENSE Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from Copenhagen westward through farming countryside and small villages, some of which were founded by Vikings more than a thousand years ago. Upon arrival in Roskilde - until 1417, the capital of Denmark – we recommend a visit to the Viking Ship Museum, containing the remains of 5 Viking vessels which have been salvaged from the bed of Roskilde Fjord, where they were sunk more than a thousand years ago to prevent aggressive intruders gaining access to the town from the sea. After visiting the museum, a short drive to the Town Square, to visit the twin-spired Roskilde Cathedral. The construction of the cathedral was commenced during the 12th Century and additions have been made through the ages, in different architectural styles. The cathedral is the traditional burial place of Danish monarchs and contains more than 40 royal graves. -

Overseas Adventure Travel®
YOUR O.A.T. ADVENTURE TRAVEL PLANNING GUIDE® Fjord Cruise & Lapland: Norway, Finland & the Arctic 2022 Small Groups: 20-25 travelers—guaranteed! (average of 22) Overseas Adventure Travel ® The Leader in Personalized Small Group Adventures on the Road Less Traveled 1 Dear Traveler, For me, one of the joys of traveling is the careful planning that goes into an adventure—from the first spark of inspiration to hours spent poring over travel books about my dream destinations—and I can’t wait to see where my next journey will take me. I know you’re eager to explore the world, too, and our Fjord Cruise & Lapland itinerary described inside is an excellent way to start. As for Fjord Cruise & Lapland, thanks to your small group of 20-25 travelers (average 22) you can expect some unforgettable experiences. Here are a few that stood out for me: Gain insights into Sami and northern Lapland culture in Ivalo where a local guide will offer their perspective on the oppression of Europe’s last indigenous community during a visit to the Siida Museum. You’ll learn about the forced relocation of the Sami people in the 1800s and the challenges that face the community as they fight to preserve their time-honored customs. But the most moving stories of all are the ones you’ll hear directly from the local people. You’ll meet them, too, and hear their personal experiences when you visit the owners of a reindeer farm and learn about the important role they play in the Sami peoples’ daily lives. -
American Protestantism and the Kyrias School for Girls, Albania By
Of Women, Faith, and Nation: American Protestantism and the Kyrias School For Girls, Albania by Nevila Pahumi A dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (History) in the University of Michigan 2016 Doctoral Committee: Professor Pamela Ballinger, Co-Chair Professor John V.A. Fine, Co-Chair Professor Fatma Müge Göçek Professor Mary Kelley Professor Rudi Lindner Barbara Reeves-Ellington, University of Oxford © Nevila Pahumi 2016 For my family ii Acknowledgements This project has come to life thanks to the support of people on both sides of the Atlantic. It is now the time and my great pleasure to acknowledge each of them and their efforts here. My long-time advisor John Fine set me on this path. John’s recovery, ten years ago, was instrumental in directing my plans for doctoral study. My parents, like many well-intended first generation immigrants before and after them, wanted me to become a different kind of doctor. Indeed, I made a now-broken promise to my father that I would follow in my mother’s footsteps, and study medicine. But then, I was his daughter, and like him, I followed my own dream. When made, the choice was not easy. But I will always be grateful to John for the years of unmatched guidance and support. In graduate school, I had the great fortune to study with outstanding teacher-scholars. It is my committee members whom I thank first and foremost: Pamela Ballinger, John Fine, Rudi Lindner, Müge Göcek, Mary Kelley, and Barbara Reeves-Ellington. -
