As America’s largest student-produced musical, the show engages 150 students from across the University. Of course School of Communication students are very involved as producers and performers—including radio/television/ film major Michael Norman Henry (C12), above, in last year’s Ragtime. There 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 are also engineering students designing sets, music students in the orchestra, and New Year’s Day Winter quarter classes begin economics majors tracking the budget. From each experience the Little Prince gained a unique insight, which he in turn shares with the Aviator: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.” Ultimately, the Little Prince and the Avia- tor return home—each with a new understanding of how to laugh, cry, and love again. Children and Grown-ups Discussion: The Little prince says that the aviator at first “talks just like the grown-ups.” What are the differences between grown-ups and children? Why might the aviator miss be- ing a boy? Other Worlds Objective: Students use imagination to create other worlds. Discussion: The Little Prince has come from another planet. What do you think his planet is like? If you could create a planet, how would people there live? What would they eat? How is it different from Earth? What would they travel in? How long would it take to get here? Activity: Have students think of a name for their planet. Have them explain why they gave it that name. Using paper mache and paints, have students make a model of their planet or make a model of the spaceship they would use to travel to Earth. -

© 2018 JETIR June 2018, Volume 5, Issue 6 www.jetir.org (ISSN-2349-5162) TALE OF THE ROSE: REDEFINING ROSE THROUGH THE LENS OF FEMINIST THEORY IN THE LITTLE PRINCE 280 Williams Abstract-From her very first encounter with Antoine De Saint-Exupéry in 1930, Consuelo Suncín de Sandoval has both intrigued and charmed him but despite her extensive role in Antoine’s life as his wife and muse,she was forgotten until 1999 when The Tale of the Rose was discovered.Consuelo died in 1979,written but never having published her side of the story.The new found account by Consuelo De Saint-Exupéry,the human embodiment of the infamous proud Rose of the Little Prince raises many questions but most importantly that of her lack of agency.This paper will focus on her abjection from her position as the wife of Antoine De Saint-Exupéry alongside her attempts at delinking herself as the extension of him by telling her own account of their marriage.Within the framework of Feminist theory the paper will draw the parallels between the artistic representation of Consuelo in The Little Prince and the physical, more realistic conditions she underwent in The Tale of the Rose. The text has been conveniently termed as that of a romantic retelling of a widely celebrated aviator and his renowned literary creation,placing it as a variation of the original text but a more subliminal reading reveals the lack of female subjectivity,that the paper will further argue on Key words – Feminist, The Little Prince, The Tale of the Rose, subjectivity, agency, embodiment, the rose, delinking, extension and representation. -

The simple tale tells the story of a child, the little prince, who travels the universe gaining wisdom. The novella has been translated into hundreds of languages and has sold some 200 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling books in publishing history. Plot summary. The narrator introduces himself as a man who learned when he was a child that adults lack imagination and understanding. He is now a pilot who has crash-landed in a desert. He encounters a small boy who asks him for a drawing of a sheep, and the narrator obliges. The narrator, who calls the child the little prince, learns that the boy comes from a very small planet, which the narrator believes to be asteroid B-612. Over the course of the next few days, the little prince tells the narrator about his life. On his asteroid-planet, which is no bigger than a house, the prince spends his time pulling up baobab seedlings, lest they grow big enough to engulf the tiny planet. One day an anthropomorphic rose grows on the planet, and the prince loves her with all his heart. However, her vanity and demands become too much for the prince, and he leaves. -

The History of Photography: the Research Library of the Mack Lee
THE HISTORY OF PHOTOGRAPHY The Research Library of the Mack Lee Gallery 2,633 titles in circa 3,140 volumes Lee Gallery Photography Research Library Comprising over 3,100 volumes of monographs, exhibition catalogues and periodicals, the Lee Gallery Photography Research Library provides an overview of the history of photography, with a focus on the nineteenth century, in particular on the first three decades after the invention photography. Strengths of the Lee Library include American, British, and French photography and photographers. The publications on French 19th- century material (numbering well over 100), include many uncommon specialized catalogues from French regional museums and galleries, on the major photographers of the time, such as Eugène Atget, Daguerre, Gustave Le Gray, Charles Marville, Félix Nadar, Charles Nègre, and others. In addition, it is noteworthy that the library includes many small exhibition catalogues, which are often the only publication on specific photographers’ work, providing invaluable research material. The major developments and evolutions in the history of photography are covered, including numerous titles on the pioneers of photography and photographic processes such as daguerreotypes, calotypes, and the invention of negative-positive photography. The Lee Gallery Library has great depth in the Pictorialist Photography aesthetic movement, the Photo- Secession and the circle of Alfred Stieglitz, as evidenced by the numerous titles on American photography of the early 20th-century. This is supplemented by concentrations of books on the photography of the American Civil War and the exploration of the American West. Photojournalism is also well represented, from war documentary to Farm Security Administration and LIFE photography. -

Richard Deakin 111 ABSTRACT Whateverperspective one takes, contradictions in the relationship between the capital and the provinces have always been evident to some extent, and the British undergroundpress of the late 1960s and early 1970s is no exception. The introductoryfirst chapter will definethe meaning of the term 'underground' in this context, and outline some of thesources used and the methodologies employed. Chapter Two will show how the British underground press developed froman alternative coterie of writers, poets, and artists - often sympathisers of the Campaign forNuclear Disarmament movement. It will also show how having developed from roots that were arguably provincial the undergroundadopted London as its base. The third chapter will take a more detailed look at the background of some London and provincial underground publications andwill attempt to see what extent the London undergroundpress portrayed the provinces, and vice-versa. In Chapter Four actual aspects of lifein urbanand rural settings, such as communes, squats, and pop festivals,will be examined in relation to the adoption of these lifestylesby the wider counterculture and how they were adapted to particular environments as part of an envisioned alternativesociety.
