TECOM Group and JCDecaux to develop a global benchmark for smart communities through digital advertising solutions The futuristic project will see sustainable creative installations integrated within Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City and Dubai Knowledge Park Paris, 16 November 2016 – In line with its commitment to creating smart, vibrant and sustainable business communities, TECOM Group, a member of Dubai Holding, has partnered with JCDecaux SA (Euronext Paris: DEC), the number one outdoor advertising company worldwide, to pioneer state-of-the-art digital advertising solutions, at Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City and Dubai Knowledge Park. BASE PROSPECTUS EMAAR SUKUK LIMITED (incorporated as an exempted company in the Cayman Islands with limited liability) U.S.$2,000,000,000 Trust Certificate Issuance Programme Under the trust certificate issuance programme described in this Base Prospectus (the Programme), Emaar Sukuk Limited (in its capacity as issuer, the Issuer and, in its capacity as trustee, the Trustee), subject to compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and directives, may from time to time issue trust certificates (the Trust Certificates) in any currency agreed between the Issuer and the relevant Dealer (as defined below). Trust Certificates may only be issued in registered form. The maximum aggregate face amount of all Trust Certificates from time to time outstanding under the Programme will not exceed U.S.$2,000,000,000 (or its equivalent in other currencies calculated as described in the Programme Agreement described herein), subject to increase as described herein. Saruq Al-Hadid to Jebel Ali: Dubai’s Evolving Trading Culture by Robert Mogielnicki ecent discoveries at the Saruq Al-Hadid archeological site located outside of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) demonstrate the emirate’s connection to key trading routes dating as far back as 4,000 years ago. In light of the July 2016 inauguration of the Saruq Al-Hadid Archeology Museum by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, it is clear that the government is making a conscious effort to reconstruct this early trading identity and promote it broadly to the public. Sheikh Mohammed’s comments at the museum’s opening reinforced the links between the archeological museum and Dubai’s trading culture: “Museums reflect the culture of the nation.”1 Saruq Al-Hadid While the museum links the region’s early trading culture to that of today, it is important to note the contin- ual evolution of Dubai’s mercantile traditions, which can be broadly categorized into three distinct phases: i) Saruq Al-Hadid, ii) Dubai Creek and iii) the proliferation of free zones. The evolution in the location of trading hubs and nature of trade over these periods had clear implications for the infrastructure of modern Dubai and for the identity of its inhabitants. Indeed, Dubai’s free zones are the modern-day manifestations of the trading culture that started in Saruq Al-Hadid and further developed around Dubai Creek. 10 Gulf Affairs II. -

2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expression Quadrennial Periodic Report 2016-2019 - United Arab Emirates General Information Describe the multi-stakeholder consultation process established for the preparation of this report, including consultations with relevant ministries, public institutions, local governments and civil society organizations Official letters were sent to 103 stakeholders including federal and local governments, private and public institutions and civil society organizations, inviting them to appoint a focal point within their organizations who can work with the UAE National Commission to prepare the UAE’s QPR for the period 2016-2019. One-on-one meetings were held with each stakeholder to discuss the objectives of the report and address any questions regarding the report. All stakeholders provided their input to the report in writing. In many cases, multiple follow up phone calls and meetings were held with stakeholders to further refine the responses. Further, the National Commission team conducted extensive desk research to find examples of good practices. The responses from stakeholders were studied, and together with the results of the desk research served to shape the report as seen below. The UAE National Commission has had to edit, paraphrase, summarize, and supplement some information submitted by partners to ensure a holistic narrative, accuracy, readability, and suitability for the purposes of this report. Furthermore, it must be noted that the information provided in the report is a reflection of the data available at the time of writing and that, in some cases, what is included in this report may be adapted, refocused or amended. -

Looking forward, GREs will likely continue to pose significant risks to the sovereign balance sheet and the financial system. Although little information is available on the financial situation of most GREs, with an estimated US$60 billion of debt due in 2011–12, the U.A.E. face rollover risk and would need to manage this carefully in light of continued turmoil in global markets. Moreover, with the restructuring of Dubai Inc., a significant amount of debt has been shifted to the medium term with potential bunching risks in 2014–15. -

University of Nottingham The Development of Venture Capital and Private Equity in GCC Countries by Abdullah Abdulmuhsen BinHassan 2010 A Management project presented in part consideration for the degree of MBA. i Abstract The rapid economic growth of Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) countries in the last decade, have facilitate the entry of new industries. Private equity industry is no exception, the number of firms and funds grown significantly since 2001. However, the economic recession and the under-developed local corporate governance regulations impacted the flows of international private equity investments, especially, in a region where deal flows and fundraising activities are governed via the local relationships networks, which ultimately resists the investors inflows to the region. Therefore, the study analysis the GCC markets using Wright et al (1992) conceptual framework of private equity development.
