The Ten Commandments Of Quentin Ellett

1. Be simple. Always, however, note the complexities of simple living. Leave nothing unexamined so you might be at rest in what you know, and be at rest in what you don’t (the trick will always be telling the dif- ference).

2. Respect fate and appreciate irony. Engage what hap- pens.

3. Never, never, never drink weak coffee. Have noth- ing to do with the kind that leaves a fruity aftertaste, either.

4. Rather than constantly trying to be good, try to be whole. Efforts toward authenticity don’t heap loads of guilt and resentment on one’s head like the quest to be “good” does.

5. Remember your dreams.

6. Beware those in positions of authority— most are bullies deserving neither respect nor the title they bear. Always, however, acknowledge the potency of strength.

7. As a habit one should both read and listen to music daily, exploring both new books and new music.

8. Always be in love, regardless of the pain it brings you. Quentin Ellett Devout Matholic 9. Surrender to your own ferocity, intensity. Be human, all too human.

10. Be in touch with the rapturous undercurrent, what lies beneath immediate awareness— the transient inter connectedness of life in all its furious wave-play. Wake yourself up to the animations, the personalities found in the shared Ground of Being. Recognize yourself as an agent of change within the All, not an abstraction or fragmented unit of inconsequence. Will Harris
