  • Annual Report 2017 -2018
LANCASHIRE COUNTY RUGBY FOOTBALL UNION ANNUAL REPORT 2017-18 THE SECRETARY’S OPENING REMARKS Firstly I have to thank the President, Steve Blackburn. Steve has done tremendous work over the year in travelling around clubs and representing the County. A truly approachable gentleman who has brought his own distinct sense of humour to the office. A lot of my Monday mornings have included a phone call from Steve starting with the phrase “I think I may have got away with it but……”. Needless to say the tales have me in stitches. As well as his Presidential duties he is an active member of the Disciplinary and Club & Community Committees which means he’s constantly on the go with his County missionary work. Steve has the huge support of his wife Val, who is also involved on the Mini & Junior committee. A couple entrenched in rugby and its administration, thank you both. To Rugby matters, Our Senior XV have reached the final and other reports in this booklet will cover how they got there, at the time of printing we are in the run up to the final at Twickenham against Hertfordshire whom we were runners up to in the final of the 2011-2012 season. Thanks to Mark Nelson, Steve Rigby, John Greenwood and all the backroom team, along with players who give up their time at the end of very busy seasons to support senior Rugby in Lancashire. Its an absolute joy to be involved in this side of County rugby and one which I look forward to each season.

WHEN? Inter Faith Week 2017 will take place from Sunday 12 - Sunday 19 November. Inter Faith Week will usually begin on Remembrance Sunday, and run until the following Sunday. It is hoped that the additional Sunday will provide the opportunity for other weekend events to take place as well as those linked to Remembrance Sunday. WHAT? Inter Faith Week: Highlights the good work done by local faith, inter faith and faith-based groups and organisations Draws new people into inter faith learning and cooperation Enables greater interaction between people of different backgrounds Helps develop integrated and neighbourly communities Celebrates diversity and commonality Opens new possibilities for partnership WHY? Building good relationships and working partnerships between people of different faiths and beliefs is part of the year-round work of many people and organisations across the UK. Having a special Week provides a focal point, helping to open inter faith activity up to a wider audience so that more and more people are made aware of the importance of this vital work and are able to participate in it. • Prospectus 2020
Prospectus 2020 …best lesson,AMBITION best day,DETERMINATION best year,RESPECT best future… Welcome to Walthamstow Academy Walthamstow Academy is a dynamic, thriving and successful academy at the centre of the local community. I believe that at the heart of our success are three key factors. The first is the dedication of our staff, who are all wholly determined to do whatever it takes to get the best possible outcomes for every single one of our students. This involves nurturing every child and tracking their progress to make sure that they are on track and that we are bringing out the best in them. Second, we are committed to raising ambition through very high expectations and a belief that every child can achieve great things if they have the opportunity, the drive and the support that they need. As a Ms Emma Skae result, our students have these expectations of themselves. They want to learn, they want to be successful Principal and they want to be proud. Our attendance is outstanding: students want to be here, they describe being BSc BEd MA NPQH part of Walthamstow Academy as like being part of a family. Third, at Walthamstow Academy we believe that there is no time to waste. We make the most of every day. For every minute of every lesson, we make sure that our students are happy, engaged and learning. They know they need to make the most of every opportunity they are offered and we want to be there to make sure they succeed. I want all our students to have hopes and dreams for the future that mean they are challenging themselves to be the best they can be.

CANDIDATE BRIEFING PACK Headteacher of AKS Lytham unitedlearning.org.uk WELCOME LETTER FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE Thank you for your interest in becoming Head of AKS Lytham. Six years ago, we created AKS Lytham by merging Arnold and KEQMS schools. Under the leadership of Mike Walton, AKS has developed to an extraordinary extent. Mike saw the tremendous potential in taking forward the best of both those former schools. In doing so, he has created a new identity for the school, giving scope for innovation and enhancing the links between the Junior and Senior Schools, creating a whole school approach to learning and development. The school is part of the Round Square network of schools who believe in new approaches to teaching and learning that broaden horizons and challenge students to go beyond their comfort zone. AKS has created an environment where young people are given the time, motivation, support and opportunity to achieve beyond traditional expectations. We are looking for an energetic and charismatic Head who can lead the next stage of school’s development, building on the work that has already been started, enhancing on strong academic results and the varied co-curricular opportunities, whilst at the same time bringing new ideas and approaches that will generate excitement and energy in the school. The new Head will inspire confidence from staff, pupils and parents and have a strong track record of success and impact. This opportunity will offer a stimulating and challenging role for an excellent school leader who shares our values and who has ambitions to make AKS Lytham the best school in the region.

  • Promoting Safety and Wellbeing at Rossall School PROVIDING a REASSURING RESPONSE to COVID-19 Introduction by JEREMY QUARTERMAIN, HEADMASTER
Promoting Safety and Wellbeing at Rossall School PROVIDING A REASSURING RESPONSE TO COVID-19 Introduction BY JEREMY QUARTERMAIN, HEADMASTER Whilst the majority of independent and state schools have closed their doors, we have had the opportunity to continuously trial, develop and refine the measures that we have put in place to respond effectively to COVID-19. At all times, we have exceeded the recommendations of Public Health England and the World Health Organisation. Throughout this period, Rossall School has remained open to a small community of boarders. Travel restrictions have meant that some pupils elected to stay with us in the sure knowledge that their safety, wellbeing and happiness was our priority. Similarly, we have continued to educate the children of key workers on site and our beautiful campus is home to the families of many of our teachers. This dedicated approach has helped to ensure that there have been no cases of COVID-19 at Rossall School. At all times, we have sought to minimise risk and maximise the safety of all within our community. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that others within the boarding sector are now looking to Rossall to provide advice, guidance and leadership. As parents ourselves, we were very quick to understand the need to maintain the highest level of confidence in our pastoral provision. We have achieved this by communicating with our families with clarity, openness and regularity. Since reports of the COVID-19 crisis began to emerge in early January, we have carefully planned each stage of our response and adopted a strategically proactive stance.
