And that rivalry is spurring them both on to fi ne per- formances - as they produced in the recent Ironman New Zealand event in Taupo. The rivalry was fi rst established in the Tauranga half ironman a couple of years ago, when Livingstone rode away from Strong to beat him home. She repeated that success over the endurance event ‘veteran’ in the Rotorua half marathon, with Strong being caught out after miscalculating how far he had to go.
