Introduction e-Granthalaya: A Digital Agenda for Automation and Networking of Government Libraries – is an application developed in NIC for Computerization purpose is and being implemented in Government Libraries since 2003. The current version of the software is 4.0 which is a 'Cloud Ready Application', hosted in NIC Cloud and Government libraries are using it for Online/LIVE services. The e-Granthalaya provides a complete solution to convert tradtional library to e-Library with integration of Digital Library. 2. Applications and Products under e-Granthalaya Project Following applications have been developed under ‘e-Granthalaya Project’ – an Internal / In-house project of NIC, for Indian Libraries:- A. e-Granthalaya 4.0 : A Digital Agenda for Library Automation and Networking – LIVE application for data entry and members management at https://eg4.nic.in B. eG4 OPAC on Mobile – https://eg4.nic.in/mobile for registered members to access library catalog and e-Books etc. using mobile device (Re-Developed during 2020) C. e-Granthalaya Web site at https://egranthalaya.nic.in D. e-Granthalaya Mobile App – Adnroid based e-Granthalaya App form members on Google Play Store. e-Granthalaya is a Library Management Software which is very useful for computerization of library activities and user services. The charges are collected by NICSI under a paid project. e-Granthalaya Services provides following:- Installation and Setup of e-Granthalaya Software on NIC Cloud Issue of Login to Libraries National Cloud Hosting Facility Open source DBMS (Postgresql) Data Migration from Old Versions of e-Granthalay DR Services for Library Data Digital Library Objects (e-Documents) storage and Delivery on Cloud On-Site Support and Training Database Backup, Recovery and Maintenance Empanelment of agencies for Library End Services in NICSI. Union Catalog of Government Libraries A New kind of service was launched from NIC for the benefits of Indian libraries in general and users of e-Granthalaya specifically. Under the services, a Union Catalog of Government libraries which are using e-Granthalaya software has been hosted in NIC Server and available in public domain at https://egranthalaya.nic.in . Monitoring Agency for the Project. 2nd April, 2019. SUMMARY PROGRESS IN BRIEF 1. The total number of complaints received from the 15th June 2009 till 31st March, 2019 is 5998. Complaints received in this quarter are 228.During this quarter 113 cases were closed at the Monitoring Agency level to the satisfaction of the complainant. 10 cases were escalated to UGC. 5 cases were closed by UGC after following the due process. As of now 15 cases are pending with UGC. 2. Progress on development of data base of colleges is good. We have a data set of about 47982 colleges. Out of which we have E mail & phone numbers for roughly 38100 colleges. ___________________________________________________________________________ 1 Support Aman Movement For Eradication of Ragging. 1800 180 55 22 [email protected] 3. The campaign to register on line for affidavits is growing & going on strong. It will continue to grow in the future. As of now we have a data set of 5763768 students & E mail/Phone Contact data of 3565500 parents. 4. Progress on self declaration of “Compliance of Regulations” by Colleges/Universities is poor. So far – no work has been done in this regard. 5. Exceptionally high numbers of complaints continue to be received from Medical Colleges across the country. 28 complaints were received in this quarter alone. 6. On awareness the Trust has two dedicated internet lease lines that send 150000 e-mails per day to students & parents to create awareness against Ragging.
