Se describen 5 especies nuevas de Pselliopus Bergroth (Reduviidae: Harpactorinae) recolectadas en México (Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora y Tamaulipas) y en los Estados Unidos de América (Arizona). Pselliopus karlenae Hussey se registra por primera vez para la República Mexicana. Se ilustran caracteres diagnósticos del pronoto, del borde posterior del segmento abdominal VII, de la cápsula genital del macho (pigóforo) y parámeros. Se incluye una clave para la identifi cación de las especies basada principalmente en los genitales masculinos. Palabras clave: Insecta, Hemiptera, Reduviidae, Harpactorinae, Pselliopus, especies nuevas, clave, México. Abstract. Five new species of Pselliopus Bergroth (Reduviidae: Harpactorinae) from Mexico (Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora and Tamaulipas) and from the United States of America (Arizona) are described. Pselliopus karlenae Hussey is a new record for Mexico. Diagnostic taxonomic characters of pronotum, posterior border of abdominal segment VII, male genital capsule (pygophore) and parameres are illustrated. Rhynocoris squalus (Distant), Staccia diluta (Stal), Oncocephalus notatus Klug, Oncocephalus fuscinotum Reuter, Ectrychotes dispar Reuter, Androclus pictus (Herr-Schiff), Ectomocoris tibialis Distant, Lisarda annulosa Stal, Acanthaspis quinquespinosa (Fabricius) and Acanthaspis flavipes Stal of the family Reduviidae from the state of Odisha, India. General characters of the group, keys to various taxa, diagnostic characters, synonymies, distribution in India and elsewhere under each species are also provided. KEY WORDS: Hemiptera, Reduviidae, Odisha The members of the family Reduviidae are commonly known as “Assassin bugs”. Most of the species of Reduviidae are nocturnal. The family Reduviidae belongs to the superfamily Reduvoidea of the suborder Heteroptera under the order Hemiptera of class Insecta. Their large size and aggressive nature enable them to predate and eat many insects. With more than 6878 described species and subspecies under 981 genera belonging to 25 subfamilies of the family Reduviidae recorded from the world (Henry, 2009) are one of the largest and morphologically most diverse group of Heteroptera or true bugs. Of which, 465 species under 144 genera belonging to 14 subfamilies are recorded from India (Biswas and Mitra, 2011). Distant (1904, 1910) recorded three species from Berhampur, Odisha viz Acanthaspis rama Distant of Reduviinae, Ectomocoris ochropterus Stal and Peirates flavipes (Walker) of Peiratinae. -

Five species are reported for the first time for Albania, indicating insufficient baseline information on the distribution of true bugs in the region. Future sampling designs should consider the interstitial habitats, river gravel and sand banks, and adjacent dry grassland areas. Certain difficulties aside, true bugs are a significant group of insect species with de- scriptive and indicative value. Während einer kurzen Exkursion im April 2017 entlang des Flusses Vjosa im Pocem Überschwemmungsgebiet, Albanien, wurden 61 terrestrische Wanzenarten (Heterop- tera) festgestellt. Fünf Arten werden der erste Mal für Albanien gemeldet, ein Hinweis auf die unzureichende Datenlage der Verbreitung von Wanzen im Gebiet. Zukünftige Erhebungen sollten insbesondere die interstitiellen Habitate am Flussufer, Sandbänke und die angrenzenden Trockenrasenstandorte untersuchen. Trotz gewisser Schwierig- keiten sind Wanzen als Deskriptoren und Indikatoren der Lebensräume eine aussage- kräftige Insektengruppe von hohem Wert. Williams1 ABSTRACT Basic to our understanding of any animal and its habitat requirements is knowing what it eats. Reported here are observations of feeding by 49 species of true bugs (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) encountered in Wisconsin over 1992-2002. ____________________ Knowing what an animal eats is basic to our understanding of that ani- mal and its habitat requirements. From 1992 through 2002, I accumulated many observations of insects feeding in Wisconsin. Presented here are data from 49 species and subspecies in 11 families including Alydidae, Berytidae, Coreidae, Cydnidae, Lygaeidae, Miridae, Nabidae, Pentatomidae, Reduviidae, Rhopalidae and Scutelleridae. -

S. de Medeiros1 & Cassandra G. Extavour1,2* Over the course of evolution, organism size has diversified markedly. Changes in size are thought to have occurred because of developmental, morphological and/or ecological pressures. To perform phylogenetic tests of the potential effects of these pressures, here we generated a dataset of more than ten thousand descriptions of insect eggs, and combined these with genetic and life-history datasets. We show that, across eight orders of magnitude of variation in egg volume, the relationship between size and shape itself evolves, such that previously predicted global patterns of scaling do not adequately explain the diversity in egg shapes. We show that egg size is not correlated with developmental rate and that, for many insects, egg size is not correlated with adult body size. Instead, we find that the evolution of parasitoidism and aquatic oviposition help to explain the diversification in the size and shape of insect eggs. Our study suggests that where eggs are laid, rather than universal allometric constants, underlies the evolution of insect egg size and shape. Size is a fundamental factor in many biological processes. The size of an 526 families and every currently described extant hexapod order24 organism may affect interactions both with other organisms and with (Fig. 1a and Supplementary Fig. 1). We combined this dataset with the environment1,2, it scales with features of morphology and physi- backbone hexapod phylogenies25,26 that we enriched to include taxa ology3, and larger animals often have higher fitness4. -

Introduction The Stenopodainae are Reduviidae; the subfamily consists of 113 genera and 713 species worldwide (Maldonado Capriles 1990). They are characterized by a large cell usually pentagonal or hexagonal in the venation of the hemelytra or basal cell, formed by the cubital and postcubital veins and the apical and posterior Cu-PCu crossveins (Barber 1930; Wygodzinsky & Giacchi 1991; Schuh & Slater 1995). From the basal cell arise two elongate cells in the membrane. Antenniferous tubercles and jugae are usually strongly produced anteriorly (Barber 1930; Wygodzinsky & Giacchi 1991; Schuh & Slater 1995).
