For Immediate Release January 30th, 2012 LAMB OF GOD Guitarist Mark Morton Offers Autographed Guitar and Strings for Auction to Benefit DM Research Heavy metal fans now have a chance to own a piece of musical history and help find a cure for Myotonic Dystrophy (DM). LAMB OF GOD lead guitarist Mark Morton has donated the custom-designed and autographed Jackson guitar from his personal collection, and the strings and LAMB OF GOD guitar picks he used to record four of the songs from the band’s album Wrath, to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation (MDF). All proceeds from the sale of the guitar will support research into treatments and a cure for this devastating disorder. This auction will be run through eBay MissionFish. Bidding begins at 5:00 PM PST on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 and ends at 5:00 PM PST on Saturday, February 4, 2012. Three-time Grammy-nominated LAMB OF GOD has been helping MDF raise funds for DM research since 2009, when Randy Blythe (lead vocals) donated his Grammy nomination medallion as an auction item. Randy and Mark support MDF in honor of their friend Todd Stone, an MDF board member who has two young sons who are living with the disorder. 01-July-2019 Steve Stemac lights metal rockers Lamb of God with Elation Heavy metal rockers Lamb of God have been on four tours over the past year as support for thrash metal band Slayer’s long-running farewell tour, the latest leg in May beneath a rig of Elation lights. Lighting design was by Steve “Cowboy” Stemac with lighting supply and support by Gemini. Stemac started with Lamb of God in May, 2018, as lighting director, inheriting a stage set-up designed by tour manager Brian Griffin. After earning the band’s, and Griffin’s, trust over the following legs of the tour, the designer began to evolve the show, a process that eventually led to fixture changes. For the latest leg, a 16-date trek across the southern U.S. states and up the east coast, Stemac chose to reinforce the band’s signature sound and stage presence using Elation DARTZ 360™ LED beam/spot fixtures and Elation ACL 360 Bars™. A balance “Lamb of God likes a lot of backlighting with not too many revealing hues,” Stemac says of the type of lighting required for the Grammy-nominated veteran rockers. After respecting their parameters, he says he simply approached it as a fan, asking himself, “What do I think would look right for this song?” As direct support for Slayer, and following death metal act Amon Amarth, who Stemac says had a formidable lighting package, the LD strove for differentiating the show from theirs as much as possible, while still keeping it appropriate for Lamb of God's music.

For example, metal is believed to be satanic, or to celebrate and inspire violence; the fans are seen to be angry or depressive. This study uses surveys of 62 heavy metal fans, and other relevant research, to undermine such stereotypes. The sound of heavy metal, the lyrics of metal songs, and the audience of heavy metal music are analyzed separately. Heavy metal fans ultimately are not dissuaded by misconceptions about the music, and continue to place high value on its community, purpose and musical creativity. There Are Metal Bands and Then There Is Lamb of God
There are metal bands and then there is Lamb of God. A new breed of modern American metal was erected in the 2000s, with Lamb of God serving as an architect, designing the blueprint that would become the standard by which bands that came after them would be judged. So often, the European metal scene has set the tone and established the creative high watermark of the global metal scene, providing the template that their American brethren would follow. Then Lamb of God came along and all bets were off. It was Lamb of God who rewrote the rules, devised a new playbook and raised the standard. The genre was forever and irrefutably changed by what the band has done. By the mid-00s, there was a full metal Renaissance, if you will, in America, with the genre enjoying several years of renewed success and critical respect. Lamb of God worked to establish themselves without question as the scene's alpha males, dominating at every turn, leaving a parade of other acts to merely feast on their leftovers and scraps. Mind you, this was not a scene, style or era populated by middling acts. The era was filled quality bands and still, it was Lamb of God who defined the time period and that quickly ascended as the game changers and torch bearers. No. Questions. Asked. Turns out, they've merely nicked the surface of what they can do and plan on accomplishing. In 2012, Lamb of God remain the pre-eminent metal band and not by default, either. The scene is still healthy, even if some of the peers who stood shoulder-to-shoulder with them during that period of growth have fallen by the wayside.
