These particulars are intended only as a guide and must not be relied upon as statements of fact. St Catherine’s Point Your attention is drawn to the Important Notice on the last page of the text. Bembridge The Village has a good range of small shops for everyday needs, including an excellent fishmonger, with freshly caught fish off the boats, a butcher, delicatessen and several good restaurants. A more comprehensive range of shopping facilities is available in the county town of Newport (13 miles) and the nearby town of Ryde (7 miles).

The Isle of Wight Only 23 miles by 13 miles, and a short sea crossing from the mainland, the Island has a unique atmosphere boasting many attributes, not least of which is its slower pace of life and its own microclimate. It enjoys unspoilt villages and fine seaside resorts with many miles of impressive coastal scenery. With safe sandy beaches, it is a place for sailing, windsurfing and swimming, ideal for both young and old.

The Island is an international sailing mecca with many events throughout the season. The most famous is Cowes Week which takes place in the first week of August, drawing people from all over the world to compete in this prestigious regatta. In addition, there are many premier yacht and sailing clubs including Bembridge Sailing Club, which is within easy reach.

Additional leisure amenities include numerous cricket and golf clubs. Located close to the eastern most point of The Island, Bembridge offers a wide range of amenities and is particularly popular with yachtsmen, offering excellent mooring facilities within the harbour, two sailing clubs and a marina. There are shallow beaches, perfect for swimming, kite-surfing and beach- combing, with a busy harbour always well stocked with pleasure craft and fishing boats. Pleasant coastal paths wind along the cliffs and are a great attraction for those who enjoy walking. The White House A hidden treasure with influence from the renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, the White House was built as a summer villa before the First World War, at the height of Edwardian exuberance, by the current owner’s grandfather who had commissioned Lutyens to remodel his 17C house in Leicestershire, Papillon Hall. Part of the design for Papillon was incorporated into the design for the White House. Extensive and beautifully presented family accommodation is laid out over two floors following a recent comprehensive refurbishment to create a fun house with lovely interiors which suit both entertaining and comfortable family living, boasting excellent style and attention to detail and finished to a very high standard. One of The White House’s key architectural features is the loggias which provide an idyllic link to the garden perfectly positioned for dining and to enjoy the evening summer light. Most principal rooms enjoy a splendid garden outlook and there are also glimpses to the harbour from the Master Bedroom suite. Accommodation Ground Floor There is a great flow to the house with an array of entertaining spaces and comfortable rooms including a large, impressive drawing room which looks out onto the garden. The well-appointed kitchen also incorporates a large dining area seating sixteen. Modernisation has been achieved without sacrificing Edwardian elegance. The kitchen television, for example, is concealed behind a modern painting by the marine artist Annabel Menheneott. The Pantry is multi-purpose serving as a boot room with masses of storage space, a wine fridge and ice maker. There is a steel gun cupboard accommodating sixteen guns. The rear hall of the house has a laundry room, shower room and a further cloakroom while beyond the drawing room are three further rooms, the Green Room, with a parquet floor, is currently a study and the other two are arranged as bedrooms, but could equally serve as a cosy family room and perhaps a library in addition to the Green Room, a charming space which already provides a second sitting room. First Floor Taking either staircase to the first floor leads to 6 bedroom suites all individually styled with distinctive character and plenty of space with names borrowed from iconic sailing races from around the globe. Of particular note is America’s Cup, a stunning enormous bedroom, more like an apartment, with huge sofas and views over the garden, an en suite bathroom with double basins, walk in shower and large Edwardian bath. Other bedrooms on this floor all benefit from en suite shower rooms while the Admiral’s Cup suite also has a freestanding bath, romantically raised on a dais. The Grounds The walled garden is a particular feature from which the best view of the house is obtained and its signature Lutyens arches can be enjoyed. The white rendered walls enclose these private gardens among the various fountains, wisteria, fanned fig trees, climbing roses and agapanthus. A pair of 18C lead figures of dancers stand above a flagstone path and beyond the lawned garden there is a terrace paved in herringbone brick for dining al fresco by the main gate. Garage and Parking There is private parking for several cars and a large double garage with barn door. Services: Mains electricity water and drainage. Heating is provided by gas fired boiler and delivered via radiators. EPC Rating E Miscellaneous: Plans have been drawn and pipework prepared for a lap-height pool in the centre of the lawn. There is also space and potential for the development of ancillary or staff accommodation on the driveway and over the garage, subject to the necessary planning consents and approvals. Viewings: All viewings will be strictly by prior arrangement with the sole selling agents, Spence Willard. Approximate Gross Internal Floor Area TOTAL : 480 sq.m/5,167 sq.ft.
