Ag new BA NPQH Aspire, Apply, Achieve Ymgeisio, Gweithredu, Cyflawni Transport to and from Darland from October 2015. For some students it will be easy to walk or cycle to school and we have the facilities for bike and helmet storage. We are aware, however, that Darland is an increasingly popular choice of school and that more children are travelling from outside Rossett to get here. For this reason, we have provided this leaflet to help families to make an informed choice about travelling to and from school as safely as possible. WCBC and Free bus transport If you live at least three miles from Darland High School, you may qualify for a free bus pass which can be used on certain buses only. A number of current students have these passes. For example, if you live in the HOLT area or LLAY area it is likely that you will qualify. To apply for these bus passes you need to go onto the WCBC website and follow the links for Education Transport Assisted Transport for Primary and Secondary school pupils. You can fill out an application online or print and post. If you have not already done this please do so as soon as possible. If you have any questions about WCBC transport the number is: 01978 292056. Arriva Buses Arriva public transport bus services operate between Chester and Wrexham and there are bus stops outside the school. The buses are supposed to run at 12 minute intervals. Safe Queuing on Chester Road if using Arriva We are asking for the continued cooperation of students and parents regarding which bus stops to use in the afternoon. Please could: Years 10 and 11 use the bus stop at Lavister Year 9 use the bus stop known as the ‘ lay-by’ stop Any Year 7 or 8 students who wish to use the Arriva service should use the bus stop directly outside school. It should be noted that Arriva no longer provide a bus from inside the school bus park and so there has been a situation where many students have been forced to queue up for some time at bus stops at the end of the school day. Darland has improved this situation for September 2015 We have been working with other local transport partners in order to provide a safe alternative service to different parts of the area. The buses will require a bus pass from school and information about charges has been sent home from the Headteacher. Spare letters are available at the school office. Oares of Holywell are now operating buses to and from the school bus park. The first route followed will be all stops along Chester Road through MARFORD, GRESFORD and ACTON and then into WREXHAM TOWN CENTRE (Oares ‘A’ Route). A second service (Oares ‘B’) is about to start which will provide a link between Rhosddu, Bradley, Llay and Burton. We will be looking to add additional services by the summer of 2016. Pay on the bus service Prices coaches currently operate a service from Borras Park. It is highly likely that by next term the Prices service will have changed to a bus pass only service. Please note that Darland bus passes will only be accepted on the Oares buses. They cannot be used on Arriva Service Buses.
