Before there was Kanye in Cody, there were the guns! Check out the new podcast History Unloaded, created at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West Museum, and co-produced by Kamila Kudelska and Center’s curator Ashley Hlebinsky and assistant curator Danny Michael. The Cody Firearms Museum Collection provides the perfect backdrop for a series of the topic of firearms. As one of the world’s outstanding firearms collections, it chronicles the technological development of firearms through history, and serves both as a tourist attraction and an educational facility. As a joint appointment by the Center and WPM, Kamila Kudelska is in the perfect position to produce this podcast to both WPM and the Center. It’s a strong partnership that benefits .

New signals bring new challenges. Improvements in the Rawlins and Saratoga areas created some reduced signal pockets. If you are experiencing signal changes in the Rawlins area, please join us for a meet-and-greet Saturday, January 25th from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the Carbon County Library in Rawlins. WPM Director of Engineering Paul Montoya will join me to chat with listeners. Rawlins area listeners represent a large swath of south-central Wyoming, and the I-80 corridor through Rawlins is a core connector for traffic moving through the state. Hope to see you there, even if you have a perfect signal in your home, place of work, or car!

Impeachments proceedings are in limbo at the time of this writing. As a public service, WPM will carry the Senate proceedings when they become available. For listeners who prefer our regular programming, please check out our streaming service at www.wyomingpublicmedia.org, which will carry the content via a special link. In addition, this may be the perfect opportunity to check out our Classical Wyoming, Jazz Wyoming, and Wyoming Sounds channels, available on radio in many locations and everywhere through streaming.

It’s my pleasure to introduce Naina Rao to you, as WPM’s new host replacing Caroline Ballard. After a national search with many excellent candidates, Naina emerged as the top contender for this highly visible position. Naina completed the NPR Story Lab Internship, worked at the Knight Center for Environmental Journalism, , WDBM, and WKAR. She holds a B.A. in Journalism from Michigan State University. Naina will arrive in mid-January, and start training on segments before stepping into the Morning Edition chair. Please extend a friendly Wyoming welcome to her. WPM and all our listeners owe a huge thanks to staff who provided Morning Edition hosting during the past several months. These hardy announcers no longer need to rise at 4 a.m. to greet early bird listeners with smiles and good cheer!

And speaking of listeners, here’s a nice note to share--

“I love WPR. It is as important to me as my morning coffee at home and for the other daily programs as I drive. When I began as an itinerant speech pathologist in the District in 1998 I searched the radio for programs as I traveled between schools. I am amazed to reflect on my state of mind 20 years ago! Being a busy working wife and mother I never read the news. Diverse programs presented by WPR and NPR opened the whole world to my thinking.”

Sally Sarvey, Casper Thank you for your support and for listening on radio, online, on your smartphone, or wherever you may find us.
