BC-DX 280 31 Dec 1996 ________________________________________________________________________ ANGUILLA New 6090 kHz Caribbean Beacon 0610 //5935 (non Aguilla, via WWCR) Cr. Gene Scott talking about first night. Broadcasting only at nights with 80 kW while testing tx. They will announce day freq on Sun, Dec 29. Asking for reception reports. Recheck 0735 UTC and they were gone. (Hans Johnson-USA, Dec 28) Thanks to a tip from Hans Johnson and Cumbre DX, 6090 kHz Caribbean Beacon noted with an open carrier at 0340 UTC, audio started 0400 UTC sharp //WWCR-5035, and the first 10 minutes Scott was asking for telephone reports on the signal. Here on the NRD-535D, on the high 300-ft inverted-L it is +50dB/s9, the low 50-ft doublet (with the high skywave angle) it is +60dB/s9. Telephone reports started up coast to coast by 0413 UTC. Hardly difficult. (Tom Sundstrom-NJ, 29 Dec) 6090 kHz - 0410 UTC, rock mx, Dr. Scott talking about the new txer, saying at one point it was "just shy of" 75 kw, at another 80 kw, "100% modulation." Invited calls to their usual phone numbers, and ran down the calls they had been getting from listeners, mostly west coasters, TX, KS, etc, all of whom seemed to be having better reception than I was. Good strength, though I would have expected better; a hum on the signal; and a bad fqy in my area, with splatter in both directions from DW powerhouses on 6085 and 6100 until DW closes at 0600. Better, and dominant, thereafter, but nowhere near as good as the //WWCR-5935 signal.

  • Torn: the Story of a Lithuanian Migrant
Torn: the story of a Lithuanian migrant By Grazina Pranauskas MA, Faculty of Arts, Deakin University, Geelong. BA (Hons), Faculty of Arts, Deakin University, Geelong. BA, Major Studies in Journalism Studies and Literary Studies, Faculty of Arts, Deakin University, Geelong. BMus. in Choral Conducting, Conservatorium of Music, Vilnius, Lithuania. Submitted in fulfillment of the requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy, College of Arts, Victoria University, Melbourne, 24 November 2014. Abstract This doctorate consists of two parts: a novel Torn and the exegesis: Writing the migrant story: nostalgia, identity and belonging. The novel and theoretical exegesis are intended to complement each other in capturing the 20th century Lithuanian historical and political circumstances that led to Lithuanian emigration to Australia. In my novel and exegesis, my intention has been to explore how the experiences of Lithuanian refugees and migrants differ, especially in relation to nostalgia, identity and belonging, depending on the time and circumstances of their arrival in Australia. Lithuanians came to Australia from the same place geographically, but from a different place in terms of history and politics. My novel is a creative representation of the Lithuanian migrants’ experience in the diaspora. It is set in the 1980s and 90s when the political, socio-economic and cultural environment radically shifted under Mikhail Gorbachev’s policy of perestroika (restructure). Daina, a theatre producer from Soviet Lithuania, comes to Australia to look after her great-uncle, Algis. As a postwar Lithuanian refugee, settled here since the 1940s, Algis has strong views about his Soviet-occupied homeland and its people. He lets Daina know that he hates anything associated with Russia and Russians who, in his opinion, were responsible for killings and deportations of Lithuanians during the war.

N.Z. RADIO New Zealand DX Times N.Z. RADIO Monthly journal of the D X New Zealand Radio DX League (est. 1948) D X November 2002 - Volume 55 Number 1 LEAGUE http://radiodx.com LEAGUE ARTICLE: Compiled by NEW PRIVATE AUSTRALIAN David Ricquish Wellington DOMESTIC SW LICENCE ISSUED (c) Double X and Station X Australian Domestic Shortwave Radio Station X Gold Coast granted 2368.5 Recent reports about a private commercial SW licence being granted in Australia are true. Yes, this does open up a whole new world of downunder SW DX targets, as the stations will generally have a power of around 1kW. What’s happening? How come these stations are starting to be licenced? The answer lies in changes made to the Broadcasting Act as far back as December 2000. The laws had to be changed to permit Christian Voice International to begin using the Radio Australia SW transmitters in Darwin, and to allow HCJB Australia to build a new facility at Kununurra in Western Australia. These, and other major SW broadcasters need to go through a detailed process for an international broadcasting licence, as their primary target audiences are outside Australia. (c) Double X and Station X Contribution deadline for next issue is Wed 4th December 2002. PO Box 3011, Auckland NEW ZEALAND DX TIMES NOVEMBER 2002 PAGE 1 If a broadcaster wants to target a domestic CONTENTS audience within Australia, all they need do is apply to the Australian Communications Authority for a Domestic REGULAR COLUMNS HF Licence (DHFL). It costs a few hundred dollars and Talkback 3 the lower range frequency allocations are specifically with David Ricquish exempt from ITU Regulations.

Äntligen Okeechobee verifierad efter många försök. 28:e USA- The most interesing KV-station. station heard was the new Peruvian R Avance on 1520. This station was heard by a few oth- er Swedish DX-ers and with the help of Henrik Klemetz we all got the station verified as well as a special 8 minute long greeting in their programme. A very exciting log. I couldn't resist show you the col- lection of QSL's from the Nordic countries presented by Torsten Söderström in the FB group Sveriges DX-Historia. At the end I added Faroe Islands and Greenland as those Grattis till alla fina KV-verifikationer från USA! /TN two countries also are included in Robert Wilkner : Mosquito Coast DX News ~ 16 July 2016.
