SCC 2009 Football All-Conference Bios

DIVISION I OFFENSE

Brandon Maroney Senior - Offensive Tackle Xavier 6-3, 260

One of the top run blockers in the SCC, Brandon registered 27 pancake blocks to lead the Falcons to nearly 2,300 rushing yards this season. Brandon also did not allow a sack all season. He was a New Haven Register Third Team All-Area selection and earned Honorable Mention All-Courant recognition. Brandon is also a member of the Falcon baseball team. Brandon is looking to extend his football career and among some of the schools he’s looking at include Maine, Central Connecticut, Marist, Trinity and URI.

Luke Scinto Senior - Offensive Line Cheshire 6-1, 240

A two-way starter for the Class LL state champion Rams, Luke was a key component of an offensive line that helped a rushing attack accumulate over 3,200 yards this season. From his defensive end position, Luke registered 31 tackles and three sacks. For his efforts, Luke was a Coaches Class LL All-State selection. In addition to his athletic pursuits, Luke is active in school and local community and is interested in attending UCONN or Penn State in the fall.

Frank Civitello Senior - Offensive Center West Haven 6-0, 257

A three-year varsity letterwinner for the Blue Devils, Frank was one of the most devastating blockers in the SCC. He was also called the “best offensive center we’ve ever had” by his veteran head coach. One of the team’s captains, Frank earned Coaches Class L All-State honors and was named to the New Haven Register’s Second Team All-Area team. Frank is interested in continuing his football career at the University of New Haven.

Dom Diglio Senior - Offensive Line Notre Dame 6-3, 300

Dom was a force on the Green Knights’ line and helped its offense set a SCC scoring record and more importantly, win a Division I East title and Class LL state championship. A two-way starter, Dom contributed 62 tackles and four sacks and earned a slew of postseason accolades, including Coaches Class L All-State, New Haven Register First Team All-State and All-Area, First Team All-Area and All-Levi Jackson. Among his collegiate choices include Boston College, URI, New Haven, Maine, UMASS and Southern Connecticut.

Alex DeMarco Senior - Offensive Line Hamden 6-4, 225

A three-year starter on the Green Dragons’ offensive line, Alex was a key component that helped open holes for a rushing attack that gained over 2,000 yards this season. For his effort, Alex was named to the New Haven Register Third Team All-Area squad. Alex also plays basketball. Among his college choices included AIC and Southern Connecticut or attending prep school.

Conor Keniry Senior - Wide Receiver Notre Dame 6-1, 180

Coaches Class L All-State, New Haven Register’s All-Area and All-State Player of the Year, Walter Camp All-Connecticut team, and ESPN Radio 1300 Player of the Year… That’s not too bad when football is your second-best sport. Conor Keniry had a pretty nice fall for the Division I East and Class L state champions. He had 33 receptions for 768 yards and nine touchdowns and added one more score on a punt return. Defensively, he was even better – team-high 85 tackles and seven interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown in the state semifinals…. And don’t forget the fourth-quarter interception that sealed the Green Knights’ first state title in 10 years. And to top it off, he has committed to play baseball – his better sport – in the ACC at Wake Forest University.

Maurice Morrison Senior - Wide Receiver Wilbur Cross 6-3, 177

A two-way standout for the Governors, Maurice Morrison totaled 37 catches and eight touchdowns this season. He also added three interceptions from his free safety position. A Coaches Class L All-State and New Haven Register Third Team All-State selection, Maurice was also a Register First Team All-Area honoree. Maurice is playing

2 basketball for the Governors this winter. Among his plans for next year include Dean Junior College, Milford Academy, Lackawana JC and Victor Valley JC.

Paul Piccirillo Senior - Wide Receiver Shelton 6-0, 165

An exciting all-around player who scored a touchdown five different ways this season- receiving, rushing, interception return, punt return and kickoff return. Paul totaled over 1,500 al-purpose yards and 15 touchdowns on the season and earned Coaches Class LL and New Haven Register All-State honors. In addition, he was First Team All-Area by both the New Haven Register and Connecticut Post. Paul would like to play football in college and Stonehill, UMASS, Marist, URI, Ithaca and Endicott are among his choices.

Alex Shaw Senior - Wide Receiver Hand 6-3, 190

A talented two-way player for the Tigers, Alex had a courageous fall as he played through two painful injuries. At receiver, he caught 26 passes for 674 yards and on defense, he made two interceptions – one of which he returned for a touchdown. He earned New Haven Register Third Team All-Area honors for his efforts. Also a baseball player, Alex would like to pursue it in college, but is still undecided as to where he will go.

Julian Hayes Senior - Running Back Xavier 5-10, 215

Julian had a big year as a two-way starter as the Falcons won the Division I West title and returned to the state playoffs. He rushed for 1,367 yards and 21 touchdowns, and on the defensive end – he added 35 tackles, three sacks and one interception which he returned for a touchdown. A consensus All-State honoree – Coaches Class LL, New Haven Register, and Walter Camp – Julian is looking to continue his football career and is looking at Maine, Central Connecticut, Marist and Temple.

Justin Willis Senior - Running Back Notre Dame 5-11, 170

3 One of the top running backs in the SCC, Justin rushed for 1,386 yards – good for 11th among all state players - and 16 touchdowns this season for the high-powered Green Knights’ offense. A member of the All-Levi Jackson team, Justin earned New Haven Register First Team All-Area honors and was a Coaches Class L All-State selection. Also an All-State outdoor track sprinter, Justin is interested in Sacred Heart, Southern Connecticut, Central Connecticut and Hampton for his collegiate destination.

James Ward Junior - Running Back Wilbur Cross 5-8, 167

Another two-time All-SCC honoree, James has totaled over 2,100 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns in just two seasons as a starter. This season, James had 967 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns and earned Third Team New Haven Register All-Area honors. This past weekend, James took part in a National Combine – as part of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl – in San Antonio. He is running indoor track this winter, and big things will be expected this coming fall.

Alex Pace Senior - Quarterback Xavier 5-10, 175

A two-year starter for the Falcons, who earned their first state playoff berth since 2005, Alex accumulated over 1,800 yards of offense this season. He passed for 1,344 yards and 13 touchdowns, and rank for another 530 yards and seven more scored. He earned All-Area honors from , and Third Team All-Area accolades from the New Haven Register. Alex is also a member of the Xavier baseball team. He would like to play football in college and Western Connecticut, Hobart, Marist, Western New England, Mount Ida and Endicott are among his choices.

Jason Lassiter Senior - Quarterback Hamden 5-10, 160

One of the Green Dragons’ captains this season, Jason threw for over 1,900 yards and 12 touchdowns. He added 463 rushing yards and five more touchdowns. In two years as a starter, he threw for over 4,000 yards, led the team to 16 victories, a division title and state playoff berth. Jason earned All-Levi Jackson honors. Among his college choices include Central Connecticut, Sacred Heart, Stonehill and Western Connecticut.

Greg Palmer Senior - Quarterback Cheshire

4 6-0, 185

Greg Palmer stepped in nicely in his first season as starting quarterback for the Rams, leading them to the Class LL state title – their first since 1997. He was well honored - Coaches Class LL All-State, a New Haven Register First Team All-Area and All-State pick, and a Walter Camp All-Connecticut Team selection. He accounted for over 2,400 yards of offense, passing for 1,080 and six touchdowns while rushing for 1,350 and 24 touchdowns. He set a school record with five rushing touchdowns in a game. Among the colleges he is interested include Amherst and William & Mary.

Nick Merullo Senior - Utility Hand 6-0, 210

Nick is another fine SCC student athlete where football may be his second-best sport. A three-year starter at quarterback for the Tigers, Nick accounted for over 80 percent of Hand’s total offense this season. He passed for 1,766 yards and added 852 yards rushing. For his efforts, Nick was a Coaches Class MM All-State selection and an honorable mention All-State pick by the New Haven Register. Also an All-State baseball player, Nick hopes to play it in college and is interested in James Madison, Trinity, and URI for his collegiate destination.

DIVISION I DEFENSE

Robert Bowman Senior - Defensive End Notre Dame 6-5, 270

A two-way starter for the Division I East and Class L state champion Green Knights, Rob was a dominant force in the interior. He registered 70 tackles and 10 quarterback sacks – which ranked sixth among all state players. He caused 10 turnovers and added one interception. A consensus All-Area and All State selection, Rob is off to the University of New Hampshire in the fall to play for the Wildcats.

Connor Capasso Senior - Offensive Line Amity Regional 6-2, 235

A two-way starter on the line for the Spartans, Connor was a tough defender who totaled 53 tackles and one quarterback sack this season. Offensively, he helped the team gain over 3,000 yards from scrimmage. A New Haven Register Second Team All- Area selection, Connor was All-Levi Jackson selection. Among his college choices include New Haven, Assumption and Western Connecticut.

Jo-Von Ladson Senior - Defensive Line Hamden 6-0, 285

A repeat selection to the All-SCC team, Jo-Von was once again a force on the defensive side of the ball as the Green Dragons won seven games. He registered nine quarterback sacks and had 16 tackles for loss. For his efforts, he once again earned Coaches Class LL All-State honors and was a New Haven Register Second Team All- Area selection. Among some of the colleges interested include Stony Brook, New Haven, AIC and Southern Connecticut.

Hayden Stanton Senior - Defensive Tackle Xavier 6-2, 270

A three-year starter on the offensive side of the ball, Hayden was pretty good in its first year on the defensive side. He had 53 tackles, two quarterback sacks, four forced fumbles and broke up five passes. One of the team’s co-captains, Hayden has been recognized for his efforts – a Coaches Class LL All-Stater and a First Team New Haven Register All-State and All-Area selection. Hayden also plays baseball, but is looking to continue his football career at University of Maine, Central Connecticut or Marist.

Cameron Davis Senior - Defensive Line Hamden 6-2, 255

Another repeat selection to the All-SCC team, Cam finished his high school career in grand style with seven quarterback sacks and 20 tackles for loss. A three-year starter, Cam was a Coaches Class LL All-State selection as well as a New Haven Register Second Team All-State pick. He is also a member of Walter Camp’s All-Connecticut squad. Interested in Cam are New Haven, Southern Connecticut, Stony Brook, and Central Connecticut.

Dan Sweeney Senior - Linebacker Cheshire 5-10, 190

A two-time All-SCC selection, Dan was instrumental in the Rams’ run to the Class LL state championship. He had 105 tackles and one interception on the defensive end, while contributing over 1,100 offensive yards and 10 touchdowns. A New Haven Register First Team All-Area pick, Dan was a Coaches Class LL All-Stater and the

6 ’s Defensive Player of the Year. Also a talented swimmer and lacrosse player, and a member of the National Honor Society, Dan’s potential college destinations include Colby, Hobart, Gettysburg and UCONN.

Tito Slaughter Junior - Linebacker Wilbur Cross 5-9, 204

A repeat All-Conference selection, Tito Slaughter finished another great season in the middle for the Governors defense – ranking among the state’s best with eight quarterback sacks. For his career, he accumulated over 200 tackles and made 11 sacks. A New Haven Register First Team All-Area pick in 2009, Tito was also a Coaches Class L All-Stater. Also an All-SCC and All-State wrestler, he’s been a two- year captain of the New Haven wrestling squad. Hobart, Springfield, New Haven and Bentley are among Tito’s college choices.

Graham Stewart Junior - Linebacker Xavier 6-1, 200

Just a junior, Graham had a monster year for the Division I West champion Falcons. He was in on 110 tackles, including 13 for losses, had five sacks and broke up three passes while intercepting one. Graham was named to the Coaches Class LL All-State team and was a New Haven Register Third Team All-State selection. In addition, he was on the Register’s First Team All-Area team. Already several colleges are interested – UCONN, UMASS, Rutgers, Iowa and Temple.

Joel Youd Senior - Linebacker Shelton 5-11, 180

Joel was a two-way standout for the 7-3 Gaels. An All-Valley selection, he led the team with 74 tackles and added one sack, two interceptions and a blocked punt. Offensively, he rushed for 587 yards – averaging 7.5 yards per carry – and scored 11 touchdowns. He also plays lacrosse. Joel plans to attend Central Connecticut and major in criminal justice.

Devante Credle Senior Linebacker West Haven 5-10, 187

7 A two-way standout and captain for the Blue Devils, Devante was the team’s leading rusher with 467 yards and nine touchdowns. At linebacker, he recorded a team-high 81 tackles. He was an All-Levi Jackson honoree and was named to the Coaches Class L All-State team. He also plays basketball and track & field. Among his collegiate choices include Mount Ida, Anna Maria and Becker.

Kyle Vignone Junior - Defensive Back Fairfield Prep 5-6, 140

An all-around performer with tremendous speed, Kyle was a two-way starter at running back and strong safety and saw action on all special teams for the Jesuits. He totaled 698 yards of total offense and scored three touchdowns. Defensively, he led the team with 54 tackles. Active in the Prep community, he also plays lacrosse. Just a junior, Kyle has aspirations of attending an Ivy League school after graduation.

Mike Georgalas Junior - Defensive Back Shelton 6-3, 185

Just a junior, Mike was a two-way starter for the 7-3 Gaels. He led the team with 44 receptions for 676 yards and six touchdowns, while contributing 47 tackles and three interceptions from his defensive back position. He also earned All-Valley honors and was named to the New Haven Register’s All-Area Second Team. He was recently named captain for the 2010 Gaels. Look for even bigger things from Mike next season.

Tom Scanlon Senior - Defensive Back Amity 6-0, 185

A two-way standout for the Spartans, Tom caught 22 passes for 500 yards and five touchdowns, and made 69 tackles and nine interceptions –which was tied for first among all state players - from his free safety position. He ran back three of those interceptions for scores. He was a Second Team All-Area pick by the New Haven Register and a Second Team All-Star by the Connecticut Post. He has some options for 2010 – Choate for a PG year or Gettysburg, Ithaca, Trinity or St. Lawrence for college.

Paul Tuscano Senior - Defensive Back Cheshire 5-8, 180

8 A captain and key member of the Rams’ defensive secondary, Paul totaled 56 tackles and one interception this season from his safety position. He added seven pass deflections. He earned Coaches Class LL All-State honors and was named to the New Haven Register Second Team All-Area squad. He is interested in attending the University of Connecticut and pursuing a business degree.

Ray Pendagast Senior - Punter Shelton 6-5, 185

Ray averaged 38 yards per punt this season, and had six of his punt down inside opponents’ 20-yard lines. He also played quarterback and led the SCC with 1,860 passing yards and threw 16 touchdowns. An All-Valley selection, he was a New Haven Register First Team All-Area selection, and a Walter Camp All-Connecticut pick. He also plays basketball and was recently selected a SCC/SportsCenter of Connecticut Scholar Athlete of the Month. Ray looks to continue his football career next fall at Cornell, Trinity, UMASS or URI.

DIVISION II OFFENSE

Anthony Chiaia Senior - Offensive Tackle North Haven 6-0, 250

A two-way starter, Anthony was an integral part of the team’s seven victories and Division II East title. He was also the team’s place kicker, and he hit a last-second game-winning field goal to beat Hillhouse. Defensively, he made 50 tackles and three quarterback sacks. A three-sport athlete, he is a member of the Indians’ indoor and outdoor track & field squads. For college, he is interested in Western New England, Western Connecticut, Nichols, Endicott and Curry.

Ben Urbasik Senior – Offensive Line Lyman Hall

A Coaches Class M All-State selection, Ben was a captain of the team and three-year starter at center. His blocking helped a rushing offense total over 2,400 yards rushing this season. Ben was a two-way starter. He will attend West Virginia University.

Michael Ficorilli Senior - Offensive Line Guilford 5-11, 245

9 The anchor of the Indians’ offensive and defensive lines, Mike had 60 tackles and one fumble recovery this season. He earned Coaches Class M All-State honors and was a Third Team All-Area pick by the New Haven Register. Mike is active in the Guilford high school community – serving as Class President. He’s interested in UCONN, Bridgewater State and Westfield State as his college destination.

Ryan Furlow Senior - Offensive Guard Foran 6-3, 220

Ryan joins his brother Russ, who earned All-Conference honors a year ago. Ryan was a big part of the Lions’ winning season starting both ways. On defense, he recorded 14 sacks and recovered two fumbles. He was a Coaches Class SS All-State honoree and earned Connecticut Post Second Team All-Star honors and New Haven Register Second Team All-Area accolades. Among his interested schools include New Haven, Western New England, Southern Connecticut and Pace.

Robert Goldstein Junior - Offensive Line Lyman Hall

Just a junior, Robert was a two-way starter for the Trojans. His outstanding blocking at right tackles was an integral reason Lyman Hall totaled over 2,400 yard rushing in 2009. In fact, over 80 percent of the Trojans’ plays were run behind him on the right side.

Matt Fallon Senior - Tight End East Haven 5-11, 210

Matt caught 15 passes for 200 yards and one touchdown from his tight end position. Defensively, he made 88 tackles, five quarterback sacks and blocked two kicks. He earned All-Levi Jackson honors and was a New Haven Register Third Team All-Area selection. He would like to continue his football career at the Division III level while studying criminal justice and is interested in Salve Regina, Becker College and UMASS- Dartmouth.

Predrag (Pedro) Boskovic Senior - Tight End Branford 6-0, 185

A two-way standout for the Division II West co-champion Hornets, Pedro was a consistent performer in 2009. He had three touchdown receptions from his tight end position, and defensively he made 60 tackles and made one interception. A three-sport

10 athlete, he also plays basketball and will captain the outdoor track & field squad in the spring. Southern Connecticut, Sacred Heart, New Haven and Quinnipiac are among his college choices.

Stephen DeJournett Junior - Wide Receiver Hillhouse 6-0, 175

Just a junior, Stephen led the Academics with 17 receptions and four touchdowns this fall. Defensively, he led the team with 77 tackles and had one interception as the Academics shared a piece of the Division II West title. Also a member of the Academics’ track team, he is interested in playing football at the collegiate level after high school.

Kendrick Amaker Senior - Running Back North Haven 6-2, 190

Kendrick scored 17 touchdowns this fall. He had 831 rushing yards – averaging over 11 yards per carry – and scored nine touchdowns. He added 411 receiving yards and six scores. He also passed for one score, and returned a punt for another. Defensively, he ranked among the state’s leaders with seven interceptions. He earned Coaches Class MM All-State honors and was a New Haven Third Team All-State and First Team All- Area pick. Also an outstanding track sprinter, he is undecided about his future plans.

Spencer Jones Senior - Running Back Hillhouse 5-8, 185

One of the top running backs in the SCC, Spencer totaled 1,212 yards on the ground this fall and scored 18 touchdowns. He averaged 7.7 yards per carry and earned Coaches Class M All-State honors and was a New Haven Register Second Team All- Area selection. Plymouth State and Western New England College are two of the many colleges interested in Spencer for next fall.

Joe DeSandre Sophomore - Running Back Lyman Hall 5-10, 165

Just a sophomore, Joe led the team with 1,191 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. He also added 533 return yards. Joe has been a two-way starter for two years. He earned

11 New Haven Register Second Team All-Area honors. He also plays basketball for the Trojans.

Tucker Schumitz Junior - Quarterback Foran 6-0, 175

Tucker averaged 261 yards of total offense per game, which ranked him sixth among all state players. He passed for 1,458 yards and rushed for another 1,161 as the Lions won six games. He earned Connecticut Post Second Team All-Star honors. A three- sport athlete, Tucker plays basketball and will run track in the spring. Look for big things from Tucker next fall.

Andrew Luzzi Senior - Quarterback Branford 5-11, 190

Despite missing the second half of the season with an injury, Andrew did made his mark as one of the top quarterbacks in the SCC - rushing for four touchdowns and throwing for five more as the Hornets clinched a Division II West title. A two-time All-SCC football selection, Andrew has also earned All-League honors in ice hockey and baseball, and recently was selected a SCC/SportsCenter of Connecticut Scholar Athlete of the Month. He is currently undecided about his post high school options.

Zach Prefontaine Senior - Utility Sheehan 5-9, 185

A repeat All-SCC selection, Zach totaled 1,267 all-purpose yards this fall for the Titans. He rushed for 542 yards and six touchdowns, averaging just over 5 yards a carry. He also caught 23 passes for another 208 yards and two scores. He also handled kickoff returns – averaging 21 yards a return. Zach is considering New Haven, Bridgton Academy and Dean College.

Adam Dear Senior - Placekicker Guilford 5-10, 190

Adam handled all of the Indians’ kicking and punting duties this fall. He averaged 35.5 yards per punt with a long of 68 yards. He connected on two field goals, and converted 20-of-22 point after kicks. He also recorded seven tackles on kickoffs during the season. Also a standout lacrosse player, he was All-SCC last spring and was recently

12 was selected a SCC/SportsCenter of Connecticut Scholar Athlete of the Month. Among his college choices include University of Virginia, University of Michigan, Trinity and Union.

DIVISION II DEFENSE

Jon Proto Senior - Noseguard North Haven 6-2, 270

A two-way starter on the line for the Division II East champions, Jon recorded 77 tackles and four quarterback sacks in 2009. An All-Levi Jackson selection, Jon earned Coaches Class MM All-State honors and was a New Haven Register Third Team All- Area selection. Among the interested colleges include Southern Connecticut, Central Connecticut, Marist, New Haven, and Sacred Heart.

Stanley Bajerski Senior - Defensive Line Jonathan Law 6-3, 245

A two-way starter on the line for the Lawmen, Stan was a consistent performer this past fall. Stan served as one of the team’s captains and is a two-sport athlete, Stan is also a member of the Law baseball which won the SCC title last spring. Among his college choices include URI, Fordham, Post University and Pace.

Kunimel Lomotey Junior - Defensive End Branford 6-1, 200

Just a junior, Kunimel started both ways for the Division II West co-champions. At tight end, he caught 14 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, he made 44 tackles and three quarterback sacks. He was named a Coaches Class M All-Stater and was a New Haven Register Honorable Mention All-State selection. Kunimel intends to play college football after graduation next year.

Dashon Riley Junior - Defensive Line Hillhouse 6-3, 300

An imposing figure in the Academics’ interior, Dashon was a key contributor to the team’s share of the Division II West title. He recorded 9.5 quarterback sacks and led

13 the team with 14 tackles for loss. Just a junior, Dashon has plans on continuing his football career at the collegiate level.

Ugur Citlak Senior - Linebacker Lyman Hall

Ugur led the team with 7.5 quarterback sacks and was third on the team with 61 tackles. Also saw duty on offense as a blocking back and helped pave holes for a rushing offense that totaled over 2,400 yards this season. Ugur is undecided about his collegiate options.

Jon Lytle Senior - Linebacker Sheehan 6-1, 225

Jon was all over the field this fall. He was in on 131 tackles – the third-highest total in the state – and recorded five forced fumbles while recovering three. Offensively, he played three positions on the offensive line and on all special teams. He was a Third Team New Haven Register All-Area selection. He is being recruited by prep schools and junior colleges, including Bridgton Academy, Lackawanna College and Dean College.

Reno Dunkley Senior - Linebacker Hillhouse 5-10, 200

Reno led the Academics with 115 tackles and added eight quarterback sacks. A Coaches Class M All-State selection, he was an honorable mention All-State and a Second Team All-Area selection by the New Haven Register. He served as the team’s lone captain this fall. Several Division III schools are interested in Reno, including Plymouth State, Nichols and Norwich.

Bret Biestek Senior - Linebacker Sheehan 6-3, 220

A repeat All-SCC honoree, Brett was a three-year, two-way starter for the Titans. At linebacker, he made 40 tackles, one quarterback sacks and one interception. At quarterback, he passed for 1,357 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also led the team with 650 rushing yards and added five touchdowns. A Coaches Class M All-Stater, he earned Honorable Mention All-State status by the New Haven Register. Several

14 Football Championship Subdivision schools are interested in Brett, including Cornell, Brown, Penn, Princeton, Dartmouth and Fordham.

Joe Williams Senior - Defensive Back North Haven 6-1, 195

One of the leaders of the Indians’ defense, Joe led the team in tackles with 90 this fall. He added one quarterback sack and played a big role as the Indians captured the Division II East title for the second time in three years. He is interested in several colleges, including Plymouth State, Central Connecticut, Western Connecticut and Southern Connecticut.

Harrison Goodkind Junior - Defensive Back Branford 5-9, 160

A two-way starter for the Hornets, Harrison recorded 63 tackles and two interceptions from his secondary position. Offensively, he rushed for 951 yards and eight touchdowns, and added 12 receptions for 134 yards and another score. A Coaches Class M All-State selection, he earned New Haven Register Second Team All-Area accolades. Also a lacrosse player, Harrison has plans to both sports in college after graduation.

Alex Mihalov Senior - Defensive Back Jonathan Law 5-9, 150

One of the Lawmen’s top speedsters, Alex recorded two interceptions from his defensive secondary position this fall. He also started at receiver and returned kicks. He scored two touchdowns on the season and earned Coaches Class M All-State honors and was an Honorable Mention All-State pick by the New Haven Register. Among his college choices included Virginia Tech, UCONN and the University of New Haven.

Will Stitilis Junior - Defensive Back Guilford 5-10, 160

A two-way starter for the Indians, Will made 31 tackles and six interceptions from his defensive back position. Offensively, he caught 23 passes for 464 yards and six

15 touchdowns. He also returned kickoffs and scored one touchdown. Will is a three-sport athlete who also plays basketball and baseball.

Ricky Festa Senior - Defensive Back Foran 5-9, 145

Ricky had a big year for the Lions and always seemed to make a big play. He made two interceptions, blocked an extra point to seal a victory against Guilford, and recovered two fumbles. Offensively, he scored 15 touchdowns, closing out his scholastic career in grand style on Thanksgiving when he scored five touchdowns against city-rival Jonathan Law. For his efforts, Ricky was named to the Coaches Class SS All-State team and was a First Team New Haven Register All-Area selection. Western New England, Worcester State and Western Connecticut are among his college choices.

Cory Vienneau Senior - Punter Jonathan Law 6-1, 190

Also the team’s quarterback, Cory was one of the state’s top punters with his 45-yard per punt average this fall. He also was successful on four fake punts for first downs. A Coaches Class M All-State selection, he earned Honorable Mention All-State status from the New Haven Register. A two-sport captain, Cory also plays basketball. Cory is interested in several state schools for college, including Southern, Central and Western Connecticut and UCONN.

Doug Daniells Senior – Utility Foran 6-2, 195

An outside linebacker for Lions, Doug was a consistent defensive player this fall. He recorded seven quarterback sacks, one interception and forced two fumbles as the Lions record their second straight winning campaign. He served as captain of the football team, and also captains the Lions’ basketball squad. He is interested in attending UCONN, Eastern Connecticut or Western Connecticut for college.
